There are over 37 different fruits, vegetables, and plant extracts in Monat Total Greens. These are all included in a proprietary blend weighing 4,500mg. 

We won’t list out every ingredient, but it’s important to understand the gist of what’s in here. 

Basically, Monat Total Greens gives you a wide variety of berries, other fruits, vegetables, herbs, grains, and grasses, along with oat fiber, so it’s quite the combination. Now, let’s see what these ingredients may have to offer.

Oat Fiber

Monat Total Greens has 4g of fiber which likely comes from primarily the oat fiber. 

Oat fiber aids digestive health by stimulating the production of good bacteria. And it can also improve metabolism, cholesterol, blood sugar, and other metabolic markers. Just some of the many reasons you should be eating oats!

Matcha Green Tea

Another highlighted ingredient in here is matcha green tea, which is known for its rich catechin and chlorophyll content. It has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, can help improve energy and mood (due to theanine), and is beneficial in preventing many diseases and aiding cognitive health.

Acai, Goji, and Other Berries

Next up in Monat Total Greens are acai, goji berry, and a number of other berries, including blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries.

After running through the list, it’s almost hard to find a fruit they didn’t include!

Papaya is unique because it contains high amounts of B-vitamins as well as enzymes that support optimal digestion. 

And many of the other fruits in here give a wide variety of vitamins (e.g. vitamin C, vitamin A), minerals (e.g. potassium, magnesium), enzymes, phenolics, flavonoids, carotenoids, and many other bioactive components. 

Basically, you can’t go wrong with loading up a product with fruit extracts; they’re some of the healthiest foods on the planet. 

Vital Greens

This supplement also has what I like to call “vital greens”, which are spirulina, parsley, barley grass and wheat grass.

One of the most notable aspects of this group is the high concentration of chlorophyll. But make no mistake, these greens have many other beneficial nutrients, including calcium, iron, zinc, and other minerals; vitamin A, B-vitamins; and many others. 

Overall, these greens reduce the risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insulin resistance, inflammation, and many other diseases.

Vegetables

Monat Total Greens also has a boatload of vegetables in here, including spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, beet, and much more. 

Once again, like the other ingredients, these vegetables are all rich in phytochemicals, vitamins (e.g. vitamin K, vitamin C), minerals (e.g. calcium, potassium, phosphorus), and antioxidants. 

Consuming enough vegetables is known to be one of the best things you can do to protect your health and reduce the risk of various chronic diseases (turns out mom was right all along!). 

Does Monat Total Greens Work?

Monat Total Greens should likely be a good greens supplement, but there are some areas that could use improvement.

While we do like the inclusion of so many different fruits, vegetables, and other plant substances, all of which have many health benefits, these are all included in a proprietary blend weighing only 4.5 grams. For context, here are the blend weights of some competing products:

Now, there isn’t really a standardized recommended dose for superfood extracts and the actual ingredients matter as well, but most of the better ones out there typically have 7 to 10 grams or more of powder in each serving. 

This doesn’t mean that Monat Total Greens isn’t effective; we just don’t know how concentrated it actually is and thus, can’t know how effective it truly is.

Claims vs Reality

Since Monat Total Greens simply states that users will get “support” for digestion, immune health, energy, and mood, these claims are likely true. 

Without specific dosages, it’d be hard to directly claim that this product will massively increase energy levels, rapidly improve digestion, or increase immune function. 

But all of the ingredients in Monat Total Greens should certainly support all of these areas. 

In particular, matcha green tea is good for energy and mood; the oat fiber and honestly all of the fruits and vegetables should aid digestion; and the numerous phytochemicals in all of these plant extracts should support immune health. 

So, while Monat Total Greens certainly isn’t a cure-all, it can definitely give your diet a good nutritional boost.

Final Verdict

Monat Total Greens stands out for its wide variety of superfood ingredients. And even with a lower dose than we’d like to see, it still is likely a greens supplement worth buying for those looking for additional nutrient support.
