Alpha BRAIN Review – A Look At This Supplement From Onnit

About Alpha BRAIN

When it comes to performance supplements, many of them focus on workouts, energy, weight loss, and the like. As it happens, some have positive side effects that happen to be beneficial but aren’t necessarily the goal of the product. But what if you could take a supplement designed to improve your mind?

Enter Onnit’s Alpha BRAIN, a nootropic supplement designed to help you with memory, focus, and brainwave function.

Onnit is a company run by Aubrey Marcus (and backed by Joe Rogan).

If you’re not familiar with nootropics, they’re essentially cognitive enhancers—“smart drugs” that enhance cognitive and executive function, memory, and motivation. Mind performance drugs, if you will.

This means that the effects of Alpha BRAIN can extend to several areas of life and activities, from workouts and work meetings to school projects, parties, and performances. Sounds like a pretty good addition to your lifestyle, doesn’t it? Keep reading our Alpha Brain review to see if it lives up to the hype.

What Is Alpha BRAIN?

Alpha Brain by Onnit is one of the leading nootropics on the market. This brain supplement is designed to help with focus, memory, and overall brain health.

A certified drug-free product, Alpha BRAIN has tested safe when it comes to side effects and drug tests. This means that you can take the supplement anytime and feel confident that those random drug tests at your job won’t be a concern.

This also means that Alpha BRAIN contains no stimulants—so you shouldn’t have to worry about jitters, crashes, or interactions with coffee, tea, or energy drinks. In fact, Onnit Labs states that it’s perfectly fine to take Alpha BRAIN along with coffee or caffeine because Alpha BRAIN stimulates your neurotransmitters directly and doesn’t bog down your adrenal glands. Taking the supplement is essentially like shifting your brain into the next gear, which sounds harmless and helpful.

Alpha BRAIN is also one of the only nootropics to be subjected to clinical testing, so it’s backed up by solid research.

It’s non-habit-forming, so there’s no dependency concern or withdrawal if you don’t take it.

Who Is Alpha BRAIN Best For?

Alpha BRAIN is ideal for students, athletes, executives, those in the limelight or those who have social anxiety, those who require mental concentration and focus at work, those involved in competitions, performances, and shows—really, anyone who experiences mental sluggishness, brain fog, or fatigue. It also works for anyone who just wants to increase focus and processing speed or boost your brain function by a notch.

Is Alpha BRAIN Safe?

Despite the fact that Onnit states that Alpha BRAIN should have little to no side effects, some users have noticed problems such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramping, headaches, light-headedness, dizziness, brain fog, weakness, fatigue, sweating, rapid heartbeat, insomnia, and tremors. While it’s entirely possible that a very slim minority is affected adversely, it’s enough for the product to have just about an equal ratio of one-star to five-star reviews on Amazon.

Alpha BRAIN Ratings

Onnit’s website reports a much higher ratio: only 82 one-star reviews compared to 480 five-stars. Could this have something to do with the product quality coming directly from the seller? Possibly, although the product is sold only by a third-party seller on Amazon and not directly.

On the flip side, the users who reported positive effects really love Alpha BRAIN. Many state that they notice improved moods, are able to focus better, and can remember more than ever before—and some say it’s a definite game-changer. For those, it does exactly what it says it’ll do.

Whether Alpha BRAIN truly works is largely up to each individual. Especially if you know you’re sensitive to medications and supplements, it’s probably best to start out with a smaller dose and increase gradually to test the effects. Perhaps this is one supplement that some users have to adjust to, but there’s only one way to find out for sure.

Alpha BRAIN Ingredients

Vegan-friendly, Caffeine- and gluten-free Alpha BRAIN is made with a host of natural and non-GMO ingredients, some of which include:

  • Bacopa
  • Cat’s claw
  • Oat straw
  • Huperzine A
  • L-Tyrosine
  • L-Theanine
  • L-Leucine
  • Vinpocetine
  • Pterostilbene

Alpha Brain Ingredients

Bacopa Monnieri

Sometimes used in Ayurvedic medicine, bacopa monnieri is an herb that improves cognition, memory disorders, and anxiety, which is where Alpha BRAIN gets some of its cognitive enhancement and mood-boosting properties. Possible side effects include nausea, stomach cramps, and digestive issues.

Cat’s Claw

Named for its claw-like thorns (and they scratch just like a cat’s claws!), cat’s claw offers benefits such as immune boosters and antioxidant effects. Possible side effects can include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches, and diarrhea.

Oat Straw

Oat straw benefits include increasing energy, reducing anxiety and depression, boosting cognition, reducing inflammation, and improving performance in many areas. Amazingly, there are no negative side effects of oat straw, as oats are very nontoxic and neutral. However, exceeding the recommended dosage may reduce cognitive enhancement benefits.

Hupezine A

Without getting too much into the science of it, Huperzine A is a natural compound that is used to treat memory impairment and increase alertness. It is often used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s and other age-related memory conditions. As for side effects, it seems that Huperzine A can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, cramping, muscle twitching, and restlessness.

Amino Acids (L-Tyrosine, L-Theanine, and L-Leucine)

As for the rest of the long-named ingredients, the next three are amino acids. L-tyrosine boosts dopamine and memory; L-theanine reduces anxiety and depression, prevents and treats Alzheimer’s and ADHD, and improves mental performance and attention; L-leucine boosts energy and metabolic functions.

Vinpocetine, a chemical reproduction of an herb, may improve memory and concentration by increasing blood flow to the brain. It also prevents Alzheimer’s and boosts processing skills. Vinpocetine can also produce nausea and stomach pain, headaches, dizziness, and nervousness.

Vitamin B6

Onnit keeps the vitamin blend simple and only includes Vitamin B6 in the formulation. Alpha Brain contains 10MG of Vitamin B6, which plays a role in neurotransmitter production.

Last, but not least, pterostilbene is the main antioxidant found in blueberries and other berries, almonds, and grape leaves. It’s a chemical relative to resveratrol.

With all these individual ingredient profiles, it’s easy to see why Alpha BRAIN may cause adverse effects in some users despite the fact that most of the ingredients are completely natural.

Onnit Alpha BRAIN Benefits

The benefits of Onnit Alpha BRAIN are numerous. Alpha Brain helps overall brain performance. This includes memory support, mood support, and overall brain support.

Memory Improvement

Many users cite improved memory and mental clarity, alertness, cognition, peak alpha brain waves, retention, and processing speed.

Don’t expect a major memory improvement over a few days, but you should notice improvement over time.

Mood Improvement

Some have even reported improvement in anxiety or depression, which makes sense based on some of the ingredient benefits. The ability to think faster and remember things better is probably Alpha BRAIN’s biggest positive.

Does Alpha BRAIN Work?

For those for whom Alpha BRAIN does work, it works well. Onnit’s claim that the supplement works after just a single dose can be backed up by several user testimonials. Then, of course, you have those who report nothing but adverse effects.

The third category is those who report no effects at all—positive or negative. Some also report more vivid dreams but little or no alertness increase during the day. It’s also worth mentioning that Onnit recommends giving the product at least two weeks before determining whether it’s working for you or not. While it may work instantly for some, everyone is different. It may also be necessary to adjust the way you take it—with food and only one capsule at a time, etc.

Many of the ingredients have proven clinical studies.

As mentioned, Alpha BRAIN is one of the few nootropics studied in trials. In one study, recall of verbal words was dramatically improved. Another showed a boost in focus, executive function, and processing speed. Onnit has studied and continues to test its supplement as if it’s a drug, and that is a definite positive. The company seems highly dedicated to producing the best and safest formulas on the market.

Where To Buy Alpha BRAIN

A 90-count bottle of Alpha BRAIN is under $70 on Onnit’s website and under $60 on Amazon. It’s also available at several natural food stores, drugstores, and vitamin/supplement stores.
