Green Vibrance was the first product conceived by Vibrant Health in 1992. Since then the product has changed with the addition of several different ingredients. Green Vibrance comes in a couple of different flavors as well as powders and is packed with 70 ingredients. Thankfully, you won’t see any proprietary blends on the ingredient label. Everything is listed plain as day for your evaluation.
Benefits of Green Vibrance
Green Vibrance is designed to support overall health. Their website does not list any bold claims that you’ll become Superman after using their product.
Green Vibrance is designed to support:
Many people are lacking a nutrient-dense diet. The Standard American Diet is rife with calories but devoid of phytonutrients and micronutrients. Green Vibrance contains an array of plant matter and trace micronutrients absent in the Standard American Diet.
There a few ingredients within Green Vibrance that can aid and support normal blood circulation. This is due to both direct and indirect effects.
Several ingredients in Green Vibrance can help with normal, healthy, digestion. Things like probiotics and fiber can help alleviate GI discomfort for individuals with a poor diet.
Green Vibrance may support healthy immune function for a few reasons. By replacing critical nutrients, improving digestion, and reducing chronic inflammation your immune system will thank you.
Green Vibrance Ingredients
The health benefits of grasses extend far beyond people juicing wheatgrass. Things like barley and oat grasses are packed with phytonutrients. Barley grass can be considered a functional food that provides key nutrients and aids in the removal of toxins. In fact supplementing with grasses, like barley, can help to ease the issues associated with chronic diseases.
Industrialized nations have a tendency to eat calorically dense foods devoid of micronutrients. Green Vibrance contains a blend of several micronutrient dense plants like spirulina, beet root, and broccoli sprouts to name a few.
Spirulina is one of the most popular ingredients in supplements. It has several benefits due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory effects. Medicinal use of spirulina may date back to the Aztecs!
Beet roots are loaded with nitrates. These nitrates can contribute to the production of nitric oxide. This results in several cardiovascular benefits like reduced blood pressure. Beet root extracts are also commonly used by athletes for its vasodilatory effects.
Broccoli sprouts are packed with the sulfur-containing molecule sulforaphane. This compound has been shown to help reduce oxidative stress and protect our DNA. Depending on how broccoli sprouts are grown will determine the amount of sulforaphane the sprouts will contain.
Antioxidant Life Preservers
Antioxidants work by reducing oxidative stress. They often do this by donating or accepting an electron and reducing the damage of free radicals. Vitamins, as well as plant extracts, can function as antioxidants. Things like turmeric, vitamin E, and green tea all function as antioxidants.
Turmeric contains several compounds called curcuminoids. The most well known and studied is curcumin. It has direct antioxidant benefits and anti-inflammatory benefits by blocking the same enzyme aspirin works on.
Vitamin E comes in two forms, tocopherols, and tocotrienols. Each of these forms can be further separated into 4 unique types (alpha, beta, delta, and gamma). Many physicians will recommend a blend of all forms of these types of vitamin E. Supplementing with only one type may imbalance the antioxidant system.
Green tea is one of the least processed types of tea leaves. For this reason, it has the most antioxidants and beneficial polyphenols. It has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine.
Beta-glucans are some of the most potent natural immune-boosting agents. The outer membrane of yeast contains several different types of beta-glucans. Saccharomyces cerevisiae contains a high concentration of a unique beta-glucan that has been shown in several studies to improve immune function.
Adaptogens are things that help to stabilize our stress response. Green Vibrance has a blend of adaptogens that work synergistically to balance out things like, mood, anxiety, focus, and stress. Holy Basil is one of the chief adaptogens in the blend. There has been significant research on this shrub native to northern India. Holy Basil has been used for several maladies related to stress and immune function.
Green Vibrance has some discrepancy with their labeling in particular to vitamin D. In one spot it lists vitamin D at 25mcg and in the skeletal support section it’s listed at 10mg. Regardless, vitamin D plays a crucial role in maintaining bone health. Calcium cannot be absorbed efficiently when serum vitamin D levels fall.
The average American gets less than half of their recommended daily intake of fiber. The general rule of thumb is you should consume about 15g of fiber for every thousand calories. That means people should be getting about 30g of fiber every day. Green Vibrance includes 1.8g of fiber in its fiber blend. These fibers can help with everything from reducing inflammation, improving blood sugar, and reducing cardiovascular disease risk.
Our liver is the primary site of detoxification in our body. Nearly everything that goes into our body must be processed by the liver. Some plants can help to enhance certain functions in the liver that makes its job easier. Milk thistle is the most common liver support supplement. It works by increasing the production of special enzymes in the cytochrome p450 family.
Enzymes & Tonics
The enzymes included in Green Vibrance are digestive enzymes. These enzymes aid in the breakdown of different types of macronutrients. Each enzyme is defined by the nutrient they break down. For example, proteases break down protein, lipase breaks down fat, amylase breaks down carbohydrates. The tonics included, such as ginger root and cayenne pepper, help to stimulate your body’s natural production of digestive enzymes.
Green Vibrance uses low doses of digestive enzymes. Additionally, the label suggests the protease enzymes function at a pH range of 4.5 or 6.0. Our stomach acid has a pH around 2.0 This means those enzymes would do little to nothing to aid digestion. Digestive enzymes should also be separate from other supplement ingredients. This is due to the fact the enzymes can break down the other ingredients while just sitting in the container.
Probiotic supplements have exploded into the market for the last few years. They are in everything from drinks, yogurts, supplements, and other food items. Not all probiotics are created equal though. The probiotic research realm has only just started and there is a lot we don’t know. What we do know is, dose matters and the specific strain of probiotics is important.
Doses of probiotics below 10 (ish) billion colony forming units (CFU) rarely have many benefits. In general, the higher the dose the better. Green Vibrance contains two unique strains of lactobacillus rhamnosus. However, they are still different strains and may have very different effects. It is great that Green Vibrance labels their probiotics with such detail.
Does Green Vibrance Work?
Green Vibrance was not designed to be the panacea for everything that ale’s you. Green Vibrance is supposed to provide you with nutrition that the Standard American Diet neglects. The combination of micronutrient dense plant matter can help fill the gaps left by a poor diet. As a result, some people may experience benefits like improved digestion, circulation and immunity.
Claims vs. Reality
Green Vibrance packs a lot into a little container. With 70 ingredients this product tries to address a lot of general health concerns. Even with all of these ingredients, the addition of things like vitamin K2 and more magnesium could make an even bigger difference.
On the other hand, more is not always better. It’s great that Green Vibrance contains 70 different ingredients. But some ingredients should not be mixed. For example, digestive enzymes and probiotics are not a great combination. Probiotics shouldn’t be mixed with any other type of ingredient realistically. While probiotics are great for gut health, including them with these other ingredients can dramatically reduce their effectiveness.
