Beetelite Review: Is This Supplement Effective?

Research-Based Trusted Source

Workout powders come in many kinds. Some blends are focused on building muscle and repairing tissue post-workout while others are meant to regenerate endurance and increase blood flow to the extremities. As more people are focusing on their health and fitness, more workout powders are being made, using all kinds of ingredients.

Beetelite is one such workout powder. The key feature of Beetelite is right in its name; it is a workout supplement powder made from powdered beats. Beetelite is designed to supply your pre-exercise body with valuable nitric oxides that boost endurance and increases oxygen flow. Beetelite claims that their workout supplement has more essential nitric oxides than any other product on the market.

Workout powders sometimes promise the world but don’t hold up in reality. Today we’re going to take a look at Beetelite and talk about its pros, cons, ingredients, effectiveness, and whether it is worth the purchase or not.

Beetelite Workout Powder

Overview: Beetelite Pre-Workout Powder

Beetelite is a workout performance-enhancing supplement made by HumanN, formerly known as Neogenis. Beetelite contains an amount of nitric oxide equivalent to 6 whole servings of beets. Beetelite is made in the USA, is GMO-free, and can be mixed in a cup of water or other liquid. For maximum results, HumanN recommends taking one 4-6 oz. mixture 30 minutes prior to workout. Each container comes with enough powder for 20 servings.

Beets and other vegetables like spinach, kale, potatoes, and carrots are high in nitric oxides which are believed to relieve hypertension by regulating blood flow. Beetelite is used by over 150 professional and collegiate athletes, many of whom vouch for its efficacy such as 7-time national triathlon champion Hunter Kemper. Of course, just because people say so doesn’t mean it does work, but it’s some positive evidence nonetheless.

Who Makes Beetelite?

Beetelite is made by HumanN, a Texas-based company that was formed under the name Neogenis in 2009. HumanN was borne out of a growing interest in nitric oxide, whose role in the biological signaling process netted the discoverers the Nobel Prize in Physiology in 1998. HumanN has partnered with several leading nutrition labs such as the University of Texas to identify ways the nitric oxide interacts with the body and its potential health benefits. Neogenis Labs was named one of America’s fastest-growing companies in 2015 and rebranded and adopted its current name HumanN in 2016.

All of HumanN’s products are designed around nitric oxide. Their first product, Neo40 daily supplements, was released in 2011 and Beetelite hit the market in 2013. Since then, Beetelite has released several new products and has performed several clinical studies regarding the efficacy of their products. In 2016, HumanN hit a company milestone with over 60 million Neo40 tablets sold, and Beetelite won the 2019 Taste for Life Essential Supplement Award.

HumanN is the only company in the world that holds an exclusive license to its nitric oxide technology, which was developed with help from researchers at the University of Texas Health Science Center. They are currently performing several clinical trials to determine the validity of their products.

All of this is to say that the makers of Beetelite have an impressive pedigree and some solid research and tech backing their products.

What Are the Ingredients of Beetelite?

Beetelite Workout Powder Product

Beetelite has relatively few ingredients. The core ingredient is non-GMO beet powder and it includes traces of black cherry flavoring, malic acid, magnesium ascorbate, and stevia leaf extract. A single serving of Beetelite contains 30 calories and 100% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C. Beets are becoming more popular in energy supplements, such as Energy Renew and SuperBeets.

The key chemical molecule in Beetelite is nitric oxide which comes from the powdered beets. Magnesium ascorbate is a crystallized chemical that is processed into vitamin C. The stevia leaf extract is mostly to add a slightly sweet taste, though there is some evidence that stevia leaf extract might help control blood sugar and insulin levels.

Otherwise, Beetelite is pretty bare-bones and does not contain and fancy chemicals with impossible to pronounce names.

How Does Beetelite Work?

Beetelite Workout Powder how it works

Beetelite can stimulate blood flow and increase endurance due to nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is an important biological signaling molecule that performs several functions in the body. Key among these functions is the role nitric oxide plays in vasodilation and cardiac (heart) regulation. Nitric oxide interacts with the smooth vessel tissue and causes blood vessels to expand, increasing blood supply and lowering blood pressure. The increased blood supply allows the heart to send more oxygen to the other parts of the body, which increases endurance and stamina.

By the same mechanism, nitric oxide works on cardiac muscle to regulate heart rate and decrease contractility. In fact, there is some evidence that several cardiac problems can be linked to a deficiency of nitric oxide.

Is Beetelite Safe?

Beetelite is made from non-GMO ingredients and does not contain any gluten, dairy, soy, or animal products, so both vegans and those with allergies can consume unless you have an extremely rare allergy to beetroots.

Nitric oxide is generally safe and only causes very mild side effects, such as blurred vision, dizziness, and sweating. Generally, these symptoms are only caused by ingesting large quantities of nitric oxide, much more than is contained in a single serving of Beetelite. So unless you drink around 10 servings of Beetelite a day, you should not notice any symptoms related to nitric oxide.

Beetelite: Worth It or Not?

Beetelite Workout Powder powdered sachets

Yes absolutely. Unlike many workout supplements out there, Beetelite has a fair amount of clinical research backing its efficacy and HumanN has a good track record and established pedigree making effective and medically sound supplements. The only downside is that it only comes in black cherry flavor, which can be a polarizing flavor.
