winged glow up review

Being a woman comes with its own bundle of stressors. Unfortunately, stress can not only wreak havoc on our health, but it also targets our physical appearance. Chronic stress can cause hair loss, fine lines and wrinkles, brittle nails, and more.

To fight stress and keep that youthful glow, many women have opted for multi-ingredient supplement blends such as Winged Women’s Wellness Glow Up Collagen & Stress Powder (also known as Winged Glow Up) with biotin and tremella. But do these products actually help treat stress and all the unpleasant side effects or is it just another money trap?

Let’s take a deeper look in this Winged Glow Up review.

Winged Women’s Wellness Glow Up is a powdered supplement specifically formulated for skin and stress. It contains 10 grams of grass-fed collagen peptides along with vitamin C, biotin, and the adaptogen Schisandra, and tremella from Snow mushrooms to support radiant, hydrated skin, stress, and hair and nail health.

Winged Glow Up Benefits

According to their website, Winged Glow Up promotes radiant, glowing skin, lustrous hair, and strong nails in addition to protecting against the damaging effects of the stress hormone cortisol. Because cortisol causes collagen to break down, this can lead to poor skin integrity and an increased risk of developing fine lines, wrinkles, and dry or sagging skin.

Winged Glow Up Serving

Glow Up provides ingredients such as collagen peptides, to replenish collagen stores, and vitamin C to help increase the body’s production of collagen. They also include the adaptogen Schisandra and tremella from Snow mushrooms for complexion and biotin to support hair and nail strength.

Winged Glow Up Ingredients

The main ingredients in Winged Glow Up powder are grass-fed collagen peptides, vitamin C, Schisandra, tremella, and Biotin.

Collagen Peptides and Vitamin C

Collagen is known to play many important functions in your body, including your skin health. Your body produces less collagen as you age which can lead to decreased skin elasticity, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Collagen supplements are believed to help stimulate collagen production in your body while also promoting the production of other important compounds for skin health, such as the proteins elastin and fibrillin. Numerous studies have found that taking supplemental collagen can help to improve skin elasticity and hydration.

Vitamin C is an important nutrient for collagen synthesis. It’s often recommended to take collagen with a good source of vitamin C, such as citrus fruits. Many supplement companies opt to include vitamin C in their collagen supplements for this reason, including Glow Up.

Schisandra

Schisandra is a vine that yields deep-red berries and is believed to contain adaptogenic compounds that can be used as an alternative to medicine. It is potentially beneficial for certain conditions, including stress. However, there is not a lot of research available on Schisandra and its mechanism of action. Further studies are warranted on its use as an adaptogen.

Tremella

Tremella is a type of fungus that is often found on trees. It is an edible mushroom commonly used in Chinese medicine to promote health. It is also known as the Snow mushroom or snow ear.

One of the reported benefits of tremella is improving skin complexion. Research has found that the polysaccharides in this fungus might improve skin hydration by protecting your skin from collagen and water loss during sun exposure.

Biotin

Biotin is a common vitamin supplement used to promote the strength of hair, skin, and nails. A biotin deficiency can result in brittle nails and hair loss therefore it’s not far out to assume taking more biotin may help to improve the strength and overall health of these structures.

Despite biotin being a widely popular supplement for these ailments, there aren’t a lot of studies to support the theory that taking biotin helps with this unless a deficiency is present. However, there is no harm in taking a biotin supplement as it is a water-soluble vitamin, and your body will flush out any excess that it does not need.

Does Winged Glow Up Work?

Based on the ingredients in Winged Glow Up and the subsequent research available, it is likely that some consumers may experience improvement in the look and feel of their skin. However, when it comes to stress the results are up in the air.

Keeping in mind that there is a lot of power in the placebo effect, there is not enough research to support ingredients such as Schisandra for stress. Although there are some small studies with promising results, further research is warranted. That is not to say that some may not feel that this product works well for them in this arena.

According to their consumer reviews, this product received 4.8 out of 5 stars. Customers reported mainly noticing improvements in their hair, skin, and nails however, one customer reported “I always had stress cortisol issues and body fat that just would not budge, no matter how much I exercised, this product has begun a new transformation in my calmness and now I see fat loss happening.” As with any supplement, individual results may vary.

Who is Winged Glow Up Best For?

This product is best for the average healthy adult woman who is looking to improve the strength and appearance of her hair, skin, and/or nails. Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant should avoid taking this product. This product should also be avoided if you have a history of GERD, ulcers, or struggle with acid reflux.

Always speak to your doctor or healthcare provider before adding a supplement to your routine, especially if you are taking any medication for a chronic condition. Ingredients in this product could interact with certain medications.

Claims vs. Reality

Winged Glow Up claims to promote radiant, glowing skin, lustrous hair, and strong nails in addition to protecting against the damaging effects of the stress hormone cortisol. Based on the research available on the active ingredients listed in their products, this supplement is suitable for promoting healthy hair, skin, and nails but its effects on the hormone cortisol and its impacts are not proven through adequate research at this time.

Although these ingredients are not considered high-risk and are generally considered safe for the average healthy adult, consumers should use them with caution until further research is available on their potential health effects.

Is Winged Glow Up Safe?

Some of the ingredients in Winged Women’s Wellness Glow Up supplement are considered perfectly safe while others should be used with caution. For example, collagen, vitamin C, and biotin supplements are considered safe and are not associated with any significant side effects for most healthy adults. However, Schisandra can cause gastrointestinal challenges and is not suitable for people who struggle with conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or ulcers. This supplement is also not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women due to a lack of research.
