Qualia Mind Review

Qualia Mind is a supplement that “unlocks” your brain’s potential. It enhances memory, focus, and productivity by increasing key neurotransmitter and brain factor levels to optimize brain function.

If you’ve seen the movie Limitless with Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, you’re likely searching for a pill that can unlock your brain’s truest power. At the same time, you probably think that’s only achievable in the movies. But what if we were to tell you that wasn’t necessarily true?

Of course, the movie exaggerated this concept beyond belief, but the core idea behind a pill designed to fuel your brain isn’t so far-fetched. They’re all over the place and have earned themselves a unique name –nootropics.

The ‘nootropics’ term was coined in the 1960s when scientists accidentally discovered the power behind what we now call nootropics.

Since this discovery, various ingredients and nutrients have been proven to have cognitive benefits, some of which have been used for centuries. This has also led to an uptick in Nootropic supplements as well. There’s Focusene, Genius Joy, Mind Boost, and many more.

Of all the companies that have tried to create a quality nootropic, though, Neurohacker Collective has received much attention with its Qualia Mind product. Qualia Mind is ingredient-heavy with a whopping 28-ingredient formula. How does this nootropic rank up?

Our Qualia Mind review reviews this supplement’s critical ingredients, benefits and side effects, cost, and value for money. We will tell you if we think Qualia Mind is worth buying and what relevant market alternatives are available.

What Is Qualia Mind?

Qualia Mind is a nootropic manufactured by Neurohacker Collective, the same makers as Qualia Focus, Qualia Synbiotic, and Qualia NAD+. It was released several years ago and has received much praise throughout the nootropic community. Unfortunately, some competitors have released cheaper alternatives that work just as well as this one.

Nootropics, also known as cognitive enhancers, act as fuel for the brain. With Qualia Mind, you’ll most definitely get a strong mental boost that improves memory, focus, concentration, energy, and mental clarity.

Qualia Mind is not designed for you if you’re looking for a simple formula. It contains a total of 28 ingredients that range from vitamins to herbs, amino acids, ancient plants, and much more. While it is generally safe for consumption, some ingredients don’t belong in this formula.

We’ll break down the ingredients one by one later in this review, but we believe it’s vital first to understand how nootropics work –or how they’re supposed to work –and what you should be looking for in a nootropic. You’ll find that Qualia Mind is a quality nootropic, but it comes with a few concerns.

How Do Nootropics Work?

Nootropics work in many unique ways to bring your mental performance to a peak. They are primarily responsible for five significant benefits to the brain and body –memory, focus, energy, mood, and brain health.

Let’s take a closer look at these five benefits:

  1. Memory – nootropics help regulate and synthesize several neurotransmitters involved in memory (epinephrine, dopamine, serotonin, glutamate, and acetylcholine)
  2. Focus – the neurotransmitters acetylcholine, dopamine, and norepinephrine are also known to play a role in focus and concentration
  3. Energy – nootropics help the body produce ATP, increase blood flow to the brain, reduce stress, and regulate neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin, adrenaline, and norepinephrine)
  4. Mood – the neurotransmitters dopamine, GABA, serotonin, and norepinephrine play a significant role in mood management, as well as reducing cortisol levels
  5. Brain Health – nootropics help protect your brain cells and cell membranes, improve cell signaling, build new brain cells, provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, improve blood flow, and enhance brain structures

As you can see, nootropics benefit your brain from all angles and allow you to feel your absolute best throughout the day!

What Should You Look For In A Nootropic?

Like the food you consume daily, quality is the most important trait to keep an eye out for when shopping for nootropic supplements. Not all nootropic stacks are created equal, and many companies will try to use synthetic versions that don’t work.

To make an informed decision that your body will thank you for, we have several tips for you when adding a nootropic supplement to your daily routine:

  • Do your research; it’s well worth your time
  • Be mindful of the ingredients being stacked together; some won’t react well with others
  • Stimulants aren’t needed with a proper nootropic stack
  • A clean label is a safe label; avoid the use of additives, artificial colors, GMOs, and more
  • As a worst-case-scenario, always look for a money-back guarantee

Being extra careful when selecting a nootropic stack is one of the best things you can do for your body. There are a lot of quality stacks available on the market, but many of them get overshadowed by useless companies trying to make a quick dollar.

Does Neurohacker Collective Make Any Claims Or Guarantees About Qualia Mind?

With 28 ingredients included on their label, you can expect it to make some claim or guarantee with their product. Take a close look at these claims and keep them in mind for later –you’ll want to compare them to our findings when we break down the ingredients.

Here are the claims made by Neurohacker Collective with Qualia Mind:

  • Say goodbye to brain fog
  • Increased motivation and willpower
  • Boost energy when you need it most
  • Get those creative juices flowing
  • Sharper focus and heightened concentration
  • Nutrients your brain wants and needs

They boast many benefits here, and the good news is they’ll strike home with all of them. Continue reading if you want to see where Qualia Mind starts to go a little wrong with their supplement.

Qualia Mind Ingredients

Alright, it’s time to finally take a nice look at these 28 ingredients in Qualia Mind. It’s important to note that this is a lot of ingredients to include in a nootropic, especially considering how powerful nootropics can be. If you’re less interested in the science and more interested in the verdict of our review, feel free to skip to the next section.

qualia mind supplement facts

Without further ado, let’s break these ingredients down!

Vitamin C – 100mg

Aside from providing the body with immense immune support, Vitamin C is also needed for converting dopamine to serotonin, blood vessel integrity, and synthesizing collagen in the brain. It is commonly believed that most people do not consume enough Vitamin C daily.

Vitamin D3 – 25mcg

Vitamin D3 is best known for reducing inflammation and protecting neurons in the brain, but it also plays a role in the synthesis and growth of neurotransmitters in the brain. Receptors for Vitamin D can be found in the hippocampus, which is responsible for motivation, memory, learning, and emotion. Our bodies make Vitamin D when our skin is exposed to sunlight, yet many people remain deficient in this hormone-like vitamin.

Thiamine – 50mg

Thiamine, also known as Vitamin B1, plays a role in the metabolism of brain cells. This will help your brain receive clean energy and synthesize neurotransmitters more efficiently. If you often suffer from mental fatigue, Thiamine is an excellent vitamin to take. A little fun fact, Thiamine was the first b-vitamin to be discovered, hence the name Vitamin B1.

Niacin – 50mg

Niacin is another b-vitamin that will play a role in converting the food we eat daily into fuel for the body and brain. Most of its benefits will come from NAD and NADP, the two major coenzymes Niacin is responsible for helping. Aside from providing antioxidant properties, Niacin will also aid the body in defeating brain fog, cell signaling, and DNA repair. Most people will know it as Vitamin B3.

Vitamin B6 – 20mg

Pyridoxine, commonly referred to as Vitamin B6, is another vital B vitamin to the body and brain. It plays a significant role in neuron transmission, which allows your memory to fire on all cylinders. Vitamin B6 will also help reduce cognitive decline in older people and promote the synthesis of serotonin and norepinephrine.

Vitamin B12 – 1,000mcg

Vitamin B12 is one of the most common b-vitamins found in supplements and has many benefits. Besides providing the body with DNA synthesis and promoting red blood cell formation, Vitamin B12 is essential to synthesizing serotonin and can even prevent the loss of neurons in the brain. Like most b-vitamins, you may also receive a boost of energy!

Pantothenic Acid – 50mg

Pantothenic Acid, which most people likely refer to as Vitamin B5, is the final vitamin we’ll see in Qualia Mind. It plays a role in healthy skin, helps the liver function properly, supports the digestive system, produces red blood cells, and can help synthesize acetylcholine –essential for memory. Expect an energy boost since red blood cells help transport oxygen throughout the body.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine HCl – 500mg

Acetyl-L-Carnitine will likely be found in many sports supplements and energy boosters. It plays a significant role in moving fatty acids into the mitochondria in your cells. From here, the fatty acids will be burnt for fuel.

There are several forms of L-Carnitine, with ALCAR being one of the most heavily studied. Still, more research is needed on the cognitive benefits surrounding this nutrient.

Artichoke Leaf Extract – 500mg

Artichoke Leaf Extract might have powerful benefits on the brain, but there’s not enough research to label it a well-known nootropic. Some studies suggest it increases the generation of synapses in the brain, improves cell signaling, and enhances memory, but this is primarily noted when combined with forskolin. Luckily, Qualia Mind utilizes that plant as well –we’ll get into that later.

Bacopa Monnieri Leaf Extract – 300mg

One of the most popular, if not the most popular, nootropics available today, Bacopa Monnieri, has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It is finally making its way to the Western world and is known mainly for its memory-boosting capabilities. Bacopa can increase the dendritic length and branching of neurons in the brain while also providing antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to the rest of the body.

Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract – 300mg

Another extremely popular nootropic, Rhodiola Rosea, works differently than Bacopa Monnieri. Found in the mountains of Asia and Europe, this plant, known as an adaptogen, helps the body adapt to the various stressors we experience daily. Of the over 140 components found in the plant, the two most important are salidroside and rosavin. Rhodiola Rosea can also help fight fatigue, improve exercise performance, and make you happier.

DL-Phenylalanine – 300mg

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid that assists the body in breaking down proteins. It has been studied for several treatments, including depression, skin health, and pain relief. Unfortunately, it’s rather unnecessary in a nootropic and isn’t going to benefit the mind at all.

In addition to that, DL-Phenylalanine is a combination of two forms of Phenylalanine (d-Phenylalanine and l-phenylalanine). There need to be more studies being performed on d-Phenylalanine for safety.

Uridine-5’ -Monophosphate heptahydrate disodium – 250mg

Don’t worry; you don’t have to remember that long name. It’s commonly referred to as Uridine monophosphate –and even more widely known as just Uridine. You will often see Uridine in human baby formulas due to its importance on brain development.

It makes up RNA, increases neuron and synapse density, improves the synthesis and release of acetylcholine and dopamine, and enhances memory/learning. The addition of Uridine Monophosphate was a good choice here!

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine – 250mg

Another great ingredient in Qualia Mind is the most bioavailable form of L-Tyrosine –an amino acid that plays a prominent role in memory, creativity, mood, and executive function. A German chemist discovered N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine in the casein protein found in cheese. Tyros is the Greek word for cheese, which is where it gets its name.

Your body will convert L-Tyrosine into L-DOPA, the precursor to dopamine. From there, it will further break down into norepinephrine and epinephrine. Tyrosine also works well with stimulants.

Taurine – 200mg

Taurine is another essential amino acid and one of the most abundant ones found in the brain, spinal cord, and eyes. You’ll likely find it in the energy drinks we consume daily, such as Red Bull and Monster. Due to this connection, many people have ill feelings toward taurine and view it as unsafe.

In reality, it’s completely safe for you, and it’s actually the caffeine mixed with other ingredients that is harmful in those drinks. Studies have shown taurine increases cellular energy, relieves anxiety, enhances sleep, and improves mitochondrial health. It’ll even help synthesize GABA (neurotransmitter for memory) and contain antioxidants.

L-Theanine – 200mg

Yet another amino acid, L-Theanine, is structurally similar to the neurotransmitters Glutamate and Glutamine. It’s commonly found in green tea and is best known for its soothing, relaxing effects –especially when combined with a stimulant.

One of the beauties of this amino acid is its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier. It usually takes L-Theanine less than an hour to reach your brain after consumption. It helps reduce blood pressure, improve memory and learning, enhance creativity, and protect your brain from overstimulating.

Alpha GPC – 200mg

One of the most prominent supplement sources of choline, Alpha-GPC, is another ingredient that will easily cross the blood-brain barrier. It’s produced from soy or sunflower lecithin and can also be found in small amounts throughout the body.

It’s widely used in nootropic stacks for its memory-enhancing properties, ability to increase mental energy and to be used as protection for the brain. Without choline, our brains wouldn’t be able to function correctly, if at all.

Alpha GPC contains about 40% choline by weight, which is more than CDP-Choline (18%). Choline Bitartrate is also 40%, but it won’t cross the blood-brain barrier as easily, making Alpha GPC the preferred choice.

Cognizin – 150mg

Cognizin is a patented form of CDP-Choline, commonly referred to as Citicoline. Much like Alpha GPC, it will help increase choline levels in the brain. As we know, choline is vital to our memory and learning.

Citicoline is an even better alternative than Alpha GPC because it can deliver uridine to the brain. When we digest Citicoline, it breaks down into cytidine and choline. Where choline converts into acetylcholine in the brain, cytidine converts to uridine.

Uridine is essential to neuron integrity while helping build and repair cell membranes for optimal function.

Organic Coffeeberry Whole Coffee Fruit Extract – 129mg

Many people know that coffee beans produce that energy-boosting beverage we all enjoy in the morning. At the same time, many need to be aware of where the coffee bean comes from. Believe it or not, the bean is found in the pit of a tiny fruit grown on a tree –this fruit is called coffeeberry.

When extracted, you’ll get an extremely rich dose of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties due to its polyphenol content. It can also positively affect cholesterol and blood sugar and protect brain cells.

The 129mg dosage in Qualia Mind will deliver 90mg of caffeine, an extremely high dose. You shouldn’t exceed 400mg of caffeine in one day.

Velvet Bean Seed Extract – 100mg

Commonly referred to as Mucuna Pruriens, this bean has raised some eyebrows in the nutrition industry. It has serotonin on the surface, making you itch if touched. It is known to play a significant role in L-DOPA production.

Most of the studies supporting Velvet Bean extract are with increasing testosterone. It can aid mood regulation but doesn’t have much use in Qualia Mind’s formula.

Phosphatidylserine – 100mg

Phosphatidylserine is a common nootropic ingredient found in stacks today. It’s a phospholipid found on the outer covering of every cell membrane in your brain. If it weren’t for Phosphatidylserine, our brain cells would have difficulty maintaining fluidity and cell signaling.

If that’s not enough to get you excited, it’s a significant component of the Nerve Growth Factor, which helps maintain, build, and repair neurons in the brain.

Theobromine – 100mg

If you’re a chocolate lover, then you’ll love this ingredient. Theobromine is found in chocolate and has a similar chemical structure to caffeine. Theobromine can also be found in tea leaves, coffee beans, and guarana berries –outside of cacao beans.

Theobromine comes with a wide variety of benefits for the body. It gives you a boost of energy, promotes a healthy heart, short-term cognitive boost, a brighter mood, healthier teeth, and reduced inflammation. Although weaker than caffeine, it is a healthier source of energy –especially considering how much caffeine we already consume daily.

DHA – 80mg

Also known as docosahexaenoic acid, DHA is a part of the omega-3 fatty acids family. It plays a significant role in long-term brain structure and cognitive performance. It increases levels of BDNF in the brain, which is responsible for the growth of your brain.

In addition to that, DHA is essential to cell signaling, neurotransmitter synthesis, focus, memory, and concentration.

Celastrus Paniculatus Seed Extract – 60mg

You’re not going to find this extract in many nootropics, and there needs to be more quality scientific evidence supporting it. That said, Celastrus paniculatus is a tree found in India and is commonly used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine.

It’s commonly referred to as the black oil plant that is rich in antioxidants due to the presence of celestine and paniculatin. It’ll also help reduce the breakdown of acetylcholine, leading to higher levels of it in the brain and aiding in memory and recall.

Of course, human evidence is needed before we can get 100% behind this ingredient.

Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract – 50mg

When you look at the most popular nootropic stacks available today, most will contain Ginkgo Biloba. It’s a powerful nootropic that comes from the Ginkgo tree. Believe it or not, this tree has been around for over 270 million years and has earned the name “the living fossil.”

Even more impressive, four Ginkgo trees survived the Hiroshima atomic explosion.

Ginkgo prevents cognitive decline, increases blood flow, regulates neurotransmitters in the brain, and provides cerebral circulation. Expect a boost in focus, memory, and alertness.

Coleus Forskohlii Root Extract – 20mg

Commonly found in testosterone boosters and weight-loss supplements, Coleus Forskohlii has become famous for its active ingredient Forskolin. It’s used mainly in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, though limited human studies have been performed.

Unfortunately, no known cognitive effects are found in the ingredient, and we’re not entirely sure why it’s used in this nootropic.

Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Disodium – 10mg

Heavily known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Disodium (PQQ) can support mitochondrial function and acts as a REDOX agent in cells. There was a time when researchers thought PQQ was a vitamin.

Outside of that, there isn’t a lot of scientific-backed research that would warrant PQQ as a quality ingredient inside Qualia Mind.

Huperzine-A – 5mg

An alkaloid from Chinese Club Moss, Huperzine-A is responsible for reducing the breakdown of acetylcholine, providing the body with glutamate, supporting mitochondrial function, and providing antioxidants.

There is one issue with Huperzine-A, especially if you consider taking it daily. Due to its over 24-hr half-life, we highly recommend supplementing it in cycles –every other day. Luckily, Qualia Mind only uses 10% of the minimum recommended amount per day, which shouldn’t be a huge problem.

At the same time, it’s such a small dose that it might not do much short-term and maybe nothing at all long-term.

Qualia Mind Side Effects

Because Qualia Mind contains ingredients that stimulate focus and alertness, users may notice restlessness and sleep disturbances if taken close to bedtime. Some ingredients in Qualia Mind may cause nausea, stomach upset, skin irritation, fatigue, or headaches.

Qualia Mind Dosage, Packaging, And Pricing

Qualia Mind comes in quite an attractive bottle. Looking at it, you can tell it’s some kind of cognitive booster. The bottle is black with a silver lid, though the box it comes in is white with a black rim at the top. The font is also silver and elegant.

The main feature of the bottle is the Neurohacker Collective logo, which is unique. The bottle isn’t packed with claims, but the box does say “Premium Nootropic For Mental Performance.” The ingredients, dosages, and directions are printed on the label.

Each bottle contains 154 capsules, which might seem like many servings at first glance. Upon further review, you’ll find that the serving size is a whopping seven capsules. That means each bottle gives you 22 servings. Considering how small a lot of the dosages are, that can be a lot of capsules to swallow each day.

Qualia is definitely on the expensive side when it comes to nootropics. A 22-serving bottle will cost $139 (over $6/serving). You can save a little money by subscribing (½ off the first bottle, $20 off every bottle after that), but that’s still very expensive for a nootropic. We were also able to arrange a 15% discount for Fitness Clone readers. Use the code FitnessClone at checkout to save 15% on your purchase. This brings the price of your first bottle down to $59.07, which is far more reasonable.

Qualia Mind comes with a 100-day money-back guarantee which minimizes the risk of trying it. We always respect when companies are confident enough in their products to back them up with a warranty.

Qualia Mind Pros vs. Cons

It’s always important to get a glimpse of the pros and cons of any supplement you’re interested in purchasing. While some products look great on the surface, they could hide flaws they don’t want you to see.

Qualia Mind for brain

To help you make a more informed decision when considering Qualia Mind, we’ve outlined all the major pros and cons we’ve discussed with this supplement. Overall, it’s a fantastic product that allows the brain to work at peak performance.

At the same time, it won’t be for everyone, and there are cheaper alternatives you can consider.

Pros

  • Contains a lot of ingredients that will affect short-term cognitive performance
  • Expect a boost in memory, focus, concentration, alertness, ability to process information, and overall performance
  • Limited risk of side effects unless the supplement is abused
  • Good source of B-Vitamins (as well as Vitamin C and D)
  • Ginkgo Biloba helps improve blood flow to the brain
  • DHA and Phosphatidylserine can improve long-term brain health
  • L-Theanine can help reduce caffeine (from Coffeeberry WCFE) side effects
  • L-Tyrosine can help your brain perform better under stress
  • Rhodiola Rosea can help reduce stress, while Bacopa Monnieri helps improve memory
  • One of the highest-quality nootropics, despite having cheaper options
  • 100% Vegan, Non-GMO, and Gluten-Free

Cons

  • Should cycle five days on, two days off every week due to Huperzine-A concerns
  • Don’t necessarily need both Alpha-GPC and Citicoline in the same supplement
  • Very expensive, especially compared to other nootropics
  • Contains a lot of ingredients (not always a bad thing, but many seem unnecessary)
  • Citicoline helps the body produce uridine, so adding uridine at a high dose is unnecessary
  • Need to take seven capsules per serving

Claims vs. Reality

Earlier in this Qualia Mind review, we mentioned the various claims and guarantees made by Neurohacker Collective for Qualia Mind. They’ve designed the formula to help eliminate brain fog, increase motivation, boost energy, enhance creativity, improve focus, and promote overall cognitive health.

qualia mind benefits

Now that we’ve gotten a solid look at the ingredients included in Qualia Mind –all 28 of them –we can start to confirm whether those claims and guarantees were reality or smoke in the air.

The good news is there are a variety of ingredients in this formula that boast massive cognitive support. Consumers are sure to see their minds work overtime after just one use. We were surprised to see quite a few ingredients that don’t need to be included in this formula.

Qualia Mind Comparison To Alternatives

Many of you were likely super excited to hear about all the great benefits you’ll receive with Qualia Mind, but you’re probably wondering how it compares to alternatives.

Don’t worry; you’re not alone. Where one door closes, another one opens, am I right?

We have two products that we’d like to showcase here, both of which are cheaper than Qualia with a much more practical formula –Performance Lab Mind and Mind Lab Pro.

Performance Lab Mind

Performance Lab Mind

Performance Lab is home to various nootropics and other supplements, quickly establishing itself as a leader in the industry. Their products include Performance Lab Sleep, Performance Lab Flex, and this – Performance Lab Mind. Their Mind product contains just four ingredients, and each serving is only ONE capsule (yay!).

We’ve already mentioned three ingredients: Citicoline (Cognizin), Phosphatidylserine, and L-Tyrosine. These three ingredients strongly benefit your memory, brain health, focus, and motivation.

Performance Lab also utilizes Maritime Pine Bark Extract, which supports blood flow, and cell regeneration and provides antioxidants that can cross the blood-brain barrier. Performance Lab Mind will only cost you $49 per bottle (compared to Qualia’s $139 formula). Each bottle lasts one month when taken daily.

Mind Lab Pro

Mind Lab Pro universal Nootropic

Mind Lab Pro will boast a more complex formula than Performance Lab Mind, but the ingredients are well-researched. It contains 11 scientific-backed ingredients, many of which are found in Qualia Mind and a few new ones.

We’re already familiar with Citicoline, Phosphatidylserine, Bacopa Monnieri, L-Theanine, N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine, Maritime Pine Bark Extract, Vitamin B6, and Vitamin B12. In addition to that, Mind Lab Pro will also contain Rhodiola Rosea (stress reliever), Vitamin B9 (mood regulator), and Lion’s Mane Mushroom (memory booster).

Mind Lab Pro will cost $65 per bottle for a 1-month supply –a little more expensive than Performance Lab Mind, but still half of Qualia Mind.

Final Verdict: Qualia Mind

Qualia Mind has many ingredients to love, and there’s no doubt they’ll provide a cognitive boost. With that being said, the product contains 28 ingredients, many of which you may not need in a nootropic supplement.

I’m pretty surprised they could use that many ingredients and still keep this a relatively safe product. Outside of the Huperzine-A, these ingredients are unlikely to harm you. Most of the unnecessary ingredients lack the scientific evidence you should be looking for in a nootropic.

Overall, Qualia Mind is a high-quality nootropic from a reputable company. The supplement even has endorsements from respected leaders in the “brain” space, like Ben Greenfield and Jason Silva.

The only concern we have with the product is the pricing. We’ve reviewed a lot of nootropics; most are priced between $30-$60 per bottle. Qualia Mind is priced at $139/bottle (or $119 with a monthly subscription), which is expensive. Of course, value is subjective, especially regarding your health, so if Qualia Mind can help you improve your mental performance, it may be able to justify the costs.

If you’re curious about how a $139 nootropic performs, we recommend starting with a 1-month supply. You can sign up for a “subscribe and save” deal that lowers the price to $69.50. Stack the “FITNESSCLONE” coupon, and the price drops to $59.07, which is comparable to similar highly rated nootropics. Note that this subscription will auto-renew, but you can cancel it whenever you want.
