Chromium picolinate in Q Trim is advertised to improve fat and carb metabolism, and this is combined with green tea extract and other ingredients that are designed to increase thermogenesis and metabolic rate, so you can burn calories around the clock.

Various caffeine sources and amino acids in Q Trim are designed to support a natural energy boost so you can work out harder and also enjoy life more while dieting down. 

Balanced Blood Sugar

Finally, Q Trim is supposed to help balance blood sugar levels, which certainly plays a role in weight loss as well as overall health and wellness.

Q Trim Ingredients

Q Trim is supposed to be taken twice per day: three capsules with breakfast and three capsules with lunch.

Below is what the ingredient breakdown looks like per serving (6 capsules) of Q Trim:


The first ingredient is chromium (polynicotinate). Chromium polynicotinate includes niacin, which enhances chromium absorption. Chromium is tightly involved in fat, carbohydrate, and protein metabolism, and has key roles related to insulin sensitivity and function. 

Research has shown that chromium supplementation improves insulin sensitivity and helps regulate blood sugar levels. Plus, it is effective for increasing lean body mass during weight loss phases. 

Another benefit is that it increases glucose and amino acid uptake into the muscles, which may make it beneficial for muscle gain. 

The recommended dose is 200 to 600mg. 

Proprietary Blend

The rest of the ingredients in Q Trim are in their Proprietary Blend, which consists of white kidney bean extract, Garcinia Cambogia extract, l-carnitine l-tartrate, citrus bioflavonoids, guarana seed extract, green tea extract, and Atlantic kelp. 

White Kidney Bean Extract

White kidney bean extract is most known for its ability to inhibit α-amylase, which in turn reduces carbohydrate digestion and absorption. In turn, this can lead to increased weight loss. Research shows that white kidney bean extract leads to pretty small but still significant weight loss and may also improve metabolic health and gut health. 

Studies have used anywhere from 500 to 3,000mg per day. 

Garcinia Cambogia Extract

One ingredient that’s been around for a while in the fat loss industry is Garcinia Cambogia. Garcinia cambogia is a fruit native to Southeastern Asia. It is known primarily for its high hydroxycitric acid content, which may aid in weight loss by stimulating fat oxidation, increasing serotonin, and balancing fatty acid levels. 

Overall, research shows Garcinia Cambogia is effective for reducing weight, fat mass, and BMI, especially in obese people. 

L-Carnitine L-Tartrate

Up next is carnitine tartrate. This amino acid compound does a few interesting things, such as it increases fatty acid oxidation, regulates fat metabolism and energy expenditure, and may even decrease appetite and food intake. 

While the studies are somewhat inconsistent, the research overall shows that carnitine supplementation can reduce body fat and overall weight loss, especially in overweight and obese people. 

Recommended dosage is 500 to 2,000mg daily.

Citrus Bioflavonoids

Q Trim also contains citrus bioflavonoids, which are polyphenolic compounds found in citrus fruits. They are mainly known for their antioxidant effects and for their ability to affect cellular signaling mechanisms. 

Related to fat loss, citrus bioflavonoids appear to be able to decrease appetite, increase energy expenditure, increase fatty acid breakdown and decrease fatty acid formation, and inhibit carbohydrate digestion. 

Thus, all of these factors can promote weight loss and reductions in body fat, as some research shows. It would be more effective to see which bioflavonoids are in here, though. 

Guarana Seed Extract

Guarana is another fruit high in flavonoids as well as methylxanthines and other health-boosting compounds. It has antioxidant effects, and it also contains caffeine which can increase metabolism and thermogenesis

Plus, certain compounds in guarana turn on genes that decrease fat cell formation and turn off genes that increase it. More research in humans is ultimately needed, but it does show initial promise for helping treat obesity. 

The recommended dose is 200 to 500mg per day, although there is a wide range used. 

Green Tea Extract

Q Trim also has the widely-used green tea extract. It has caffeine which may boost thermogenesis. Plus, its high content of catechins, such as EGCG, can improve metabolic rate and energy expenditure, as well as fatty acid oxidation, all of which can contribute to fat loss. 

The recommended dose is 250 to 750mg per day.

Atlantic Kelp

The final ingredient in Q Trim is Atlantic kelp, which is a form of algae. It is most often used due to its alginate content, which is a type of fiber that can inhibit fat digestion and absorption. Other research shows kelp may reduce blood glucose levels. Overall, most research is preliminary, but it does show promise. 

Does Q Trim Work?

Based on the evidence, Q Trim should be effective for supporting natural weight loss. Pretty much all of the ingredients are well-researched, and they target weight and fat loss through many mechanisms, such as appetite suppression, increased metabolic rate and thermogenesis, decreased fat and carbohydrate absorption, and inhibited fat cell formation.

Plus, the dosage for chromium is definitely high enough. 

Yet, we run into a problem because the other ingredients are in a proprietary blend that weighs a little over 4 grams. The total dosage is pretty high here, but it’s impossible to tell how much of each individual ingredient is in it. So unlike other options with more transparent formulas, like TriTrim or Trans4orm, with Q Trim’s proprietary blend it can be difficult to determine how truly effective this supplement can be.

Claims vs. Reality

As you can see from the different ingredients, all of the claims made by Q Trim should occur; it’s just not clear how significant these effects will be. But you definitely should see at least some improvement in appetite suppression, fat-burning, metabolism, energy, and blood sugar levels, as well as decreased fat and carbohydrate absorption. 

Based on the available research, I’d expect an additional weight loss of about 5 to 7 pounds over a period of 6 to 10 weeks on top of the weight loss you’d normally experience from diet and exercise alone. So, nothing huge, but still significant, as every pound matters.

The main ingredients responsible for these are chromium, green tea, white kidney bean extract, Garcinia Cambogia, and guarana, since these are the most well-researched. But the citrus bioflavonoids, kelp, and carnitine should all help too. 

Who is Q Trim Best For?

Q Trim is for anyone who wants additional help to lose weight and improve their body composition. Users who take Q Trim alongside diet and exercise should likely lose a few more pounds over a period of several weeks compared to diet and exercise alone, so if you need that extra boost, Q Trim is worth looking into.

Is Q Trim Safe?

Each capsule of Q Trim has 33mg of caffeine (198mg per serving), so caffeine-sensitive individuals should be cautious. Plus, Q Trim may lead to changes in blood sugar, so any individual with diabetes or related health problems should be cautious. Always speak with your doctor before implementing any supplement.

  • Anxiety, nervousness, jitters, and insomnia
  • Headache and dizziness
