MoveWell-Review

As we grow older, our bodies start to show signs of it in one way or another. Some people experience gray hair and wrinkles on their skin, other people experience cognitive decline, and some might even experience weaker vision, joint pain, tooth loss, difficulty hearing, etc.

In fact, most people experience a combination — if not all — of these factors. It’s a normal part of the aging process and something you can’t run away from. With that said, there are a variety of things you can do to reduce the aging process and maintain your health for as long as possible. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and a normal sleep schedule are some of the best things you can do for yourself long-term, but eventually, your body will need some extra help — especially when your joints start to show signs of aging, such as pain, loss of movement, and more.

The good news is there are a lot of supplements out there designed to keep your joints healthy and provide relief from the normal aging process. The bad news is a majority of those supplements don’t do what they’re intended to do, and you must be careful when choosing one.

MoveWell is a supplement you might’ve heard about in your search for a joint relief formula. As with any supplement, though, it’s important to know if MoveWell really does what it claims and if it is worth the price. Let’s take a closer look at this joint health supplement in this thorough MoveWell review so you can find the answers you’re looking for!

MoveWell Plus

What Is MoveWell?

MoveWell is a supplement brought to you by a company called Live Conscious, formerly LiveWell. They have produced a wide variety of well-known supplements, including OmegaWell Fish Oil, CurcuWell, ZenWell, Beyond Brew Mushroom Coffee, and MagWell. MoveWell is marketed as a proprietary joint health blend for daily support. It’s marketed as a peanut-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, non-GMO, preservative-free, and GMP-certified supplement.

The clinically studied formula is designed to help the body’s joints in three major ways. First, it supports joint comfort, reduces joint pain, and improves flexibility. Second, it encourages healthy joints and cartilage. Third, it provides the body with sustainably sourced Omega-3 fatty acids.

The formula is available in soft gel (capsule) form for easy consumption. You only need to take one soft gel per day, which is great for those that don’t like taking capsules. They supply you with enough soft gel servings to last you an entire month when taking it once per day.

MoveWell Bottle

There are three ingredients included in the proprietary blend — Antarctic krill oil, hyaluronic acid, and Zanthin natural astaxanthin. While you aren’t given the exact dosage of each ingredient, they are transparent about the dosage of the proprietary blend in whole, which is 353mg per day.

Before we take a closer look at each of the ingredients and what they do to keep your joints healthy, let’s first learn a little bit about the joints, why omega-3 fatty acids are important in your diet, why you need to limit oxidative stress in the body, and how to keep your joints healthy.

Why do we need healthy joints and cartilage?

Without healthy joints and cartilage, our bodies would have an extremely hard time moving. This includes everything from your fingers to your arms, knees, feet, back, hip, and so much more. With limited mobility, you wouldn’t be able to run, walk, grab, stretch, stretch, dance, etc.

The joints are where two or more bones meet in the body, which is what allows movement between those two or more bones. There are six major types of joints in the body — ball and socket, saddle, hinge, condyloid, pivot, and gliding. Everyone has between 250-350 of them.

Cartilage is the main type of connective tissue that protects the body’s joints, ligaments, tendons, and bones. There are three main types of cartilage found in the body — elastic, fibrocartilage, and hyaline. Hyaline cartilage is the type that’s found in the lining of the joints.

While the joints provide movement and allow us to remain physically active on a daily basis, the cartilage is what cushions the joint surface. As we age, we start to lose cartilage in the joint surface, which exposes the bone ends and creates excessive stress on those areas.

Does oxidative stress cause joint damage?

When your body experiences inflammation, it produces free radicals that contain oxygen and an uneven number of electrons. The uneven number of electrons makes it easy to react with other molecules — this reaction is called oxidation. Your body needs it, but not in excessive amounts.

That’s why the body also naturally produces antioxidants that help donate an electron to the free radical. When this happens, the free radical is stabilized and won’t cause as much harm to the body. This is a process that happens naturally and helps keep us healthy on a daily basis.

The problem occurs when the body has so many free radicals that the antioxidants can’t keep a healthy balance. The free radicals start to damage fatty tissue, DNA, and other proteins found in the body — this is called oxidative stress. In fact, oxidative stress largely contributes to aging.

Many studies suggest that oxidative stress can have a negative impact on the cartilage in your joints. Of course, less cartilage increases your chances of experiencing joint damage and joint pain. That’s why we suggest adding antioxidants to your daily diet to help keep this balance.

What do omega-3 fatty acids do in the body?

Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil do a lot for the body, but the main benefit is its impact on inflammation — especially in those with arthritis and other joint issues. When consumed, the body converts these Omega-3 fatty acids into more powerful compounds that include resolvins.

Once converted, resolvins help bring inflammation to an end. This not only reduces the amount of joint damage caused by inflammation but can help reduce the amount of stiffness and pain caused in the joint area. This means a lot of good things for your joints and cartilage.

In addition to that, Omega-3 fatty acids are also known to improve heart health by lowering high levels of triglycerides and reducing the chances of heart disease. They can also improve cognitive health and lower your risk for diabetes, though research is currently ongoing.

Can you improve joint health without supplements?

There’s no doubt that the right supplement can help you improve your joint and cartilage health. With that said, it’s not the only thing that’s proven to help in these situations. In fact, there are things you can do on a daily basis to put your joints and cartilage in a position to succeed.

The first, of course, is to stay physically active. This doesn’t mean you need to overdo yourself by going to the gym every single day and tiring yourself out. In fact, simply going for a walk can make all the difference. If you’re someone who sits often, change positions and stretch often.

The next thing you can do is eat a healthy diet. Make sure your body receives Omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants to help fight inflammation. Calcium, Vitamin D, and lean proteins can also help you build strong bones and muscles. Losing weight will reduce the amount of stress on your joints.

Finally, maintaining correct posture throughout the day — whether you’re sitting or standing — is extremely important. Incorrect posture places an extreme amount of stress on your body’s joints, which increases the amount of joint damage you experience throughout the day.

MoveWell Ingredients

Now that we understand a little more about the body’s joints and cartilage, we can finally start to break down the ingredients found in the MoveWell supplement by Live Conscious. It’ll start to make a bit more sense now that you have a better understanding of how the joints work.

There are three ingredients found in the MoveWell proprietary blend — Antarctic Krill Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, and Zanthin Natural Astaxanthin. Each ingredient comes with its own unique benefits for joint health, so let’s take a closer look at each one.

MoveWell Supplement Facts

Antarctic Krill Oil

When adding Omega-3 fatty acids to your diet, you’ll be targeting either eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), or Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is found in plant foods and is converted into EPA and DHA when consumed in the body. EPA and DHA are only found in marine sources.

While most people turn to fatty fish for EPA and DHA, it’s not the only source. In fact, krill is one of the most popular alternatives to fatty fish when targeting Omega-3s — which is why they use it in the MoveWell supplement. Some reports suggest it’s the best source, but more research is needed.

Krill oil has a lot of benefits. It’s an excellent source of healthy fats (Omega-3s); it helps fight inflammation in the body, reduces arthritis and joint pain, improves blood lipids and heart health, and is very easy to add to your diet. It’s definitely a good addition to this supplement.

Hyaluronic Acid

Also known as hyaluronan, hyaluronic acid is a clear substance your body produces all by itself. It’s largely found in the eyes, skin, and connective tissues. While it holds several functions in the body, it’s mostly tasked with lubricating and moistening your tissues by retaining water.

You can also find hyaluronic acid in the joints. By lubricating the space between your bones, hyaluronic acid helps reduce the amount of grinding between bones. Of course, this means you’ll experience less pain and discomfort in the joints — especially with osteoarthritis.

In addition to joint pain relief, hyaluronic acid helps improve skin health, speeds up wound healing, can soothe acid reflux symptoms, relieves dry eye symptoms, preserves bone strength, and can help reduce painful bladder symptoms. Another great addition here.

Zanthin Natural Astaxanthin

Zanthin Natural Astaxanthin is a patented form of astaxanthin, a naturally occurring carotenoid discovered nearly 40 years ago. It’s most commonly found in shrimp, krill, salmon, and microalgae. Supplementing with astaxanthin comes with a wide range of benefits for the body.

Most of these benefits are present because it’s an extremely powerful antioxidant. It helps protect cells, lipids, tissues, and proteins from oxidative stress by maintaining a proper balance of free radicals and antioxidants in the body. It spans the cellular membrane, acts as an immunomodulator, and balances inflammation.

In fact, many studies suggest that Zanthin® Natural Astaxanthin is 10 times more powerful than beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin, as well as 100 times more powerful than Vitamin E. It’s a large reason why so many people are adding it to their daily diet for continued overall health.

MoveWell Dosages, Packaging, and Pricing

The MoveWell supplement comes with quite the attractive packaging. The actual bottle is black, but the top is a beautiful and shiny Au Chico color. The label is half white with dark lettering and half yellow/gold with white lettering. The tagline reads “It’s Your Move.”

MoveWell Live Conscious Website

The back of the label gives you directions for safe use, noting that you should take one capsule per day with a meal. It also states the supplement facts, noting that there’s 353mg in the proprietary blend of Antarctic Krill Oil, Zanthin Natural Astaxanthin, and Hyaluronic Acid.

Since there’s Krill Oil in the blend, there’s also 0.5 grams of fat per serving. Each bottle comes with 30 soft gel capsules, which is enough for one month when taking one capsule per day.

MoveWell Pros vs. Cons

No supplement is perfect, and not all joint-related supplements are created equal. If you’re looking for a supplement that’s right for you, it’s very important that you weigh all the pros and cons of that supplement before purchasing — especially since some formulas are harmful.

Don’t worry; we’re going to break down everything we like and don’t like about the MoveWell™ Plus supplement; that way, you have all the information you need when making an informed buyer’s decision. After all, that’s the main reason you came here, isn’t it? Let’s take a look!

Pros

  • Atlantic Krill Oil supplies the body with much-needed Omega-3 fatty acids
  • Hyaluronic Acid helps lubricate the joints to reduce discomfort caused by grinding of bones
  • Zanthin® Natural Astaxanthin is one of the most effective antioxidants for the body
  • Omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation
  • Antioxidants reduce oxidative stress
  • Only costs a little over $1 per day when taking one capsule per day
  • Helps reduce joint pain and encourages healthy joints and cartilage

Cons

  • The blend is only 353mg, which is a pretty low dose either way
  • Shouldn’t be taken if you have a seafood allergy

Claims vs. Reality

MoveWell markets itself for premium daily joint and cartilage support. It’s designed to give your joints and cartilage the nutrients it needs for reduced discomfort, better mobility and flexibility, and improved overall health in those areas. Better yet, it works.

Despite only using three ingredients, those three ingredients are highly effective at doing what’s listed above. The Atlantic Krill Oil is an excellent source of DHA and EPA, both of which are the best sources of Omega-3 fatty acids. Not only that, but they improve heart health as well.

Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body and helps lubricate the joints and cartilage for reduced pain and discomfort. The Zanthin Natural Astaxanthin is one of the most powerful antioxidants available today and helps reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the body.

With that said, it’s a little disappointing we don’t know the exact dosages of each ingredient. The 353mg proprietary blend is a little low, but it would be nice to know how much we have of each ingredient to truly determine how effective this supplement can be. The good news is it shouldn’t harm you and should be safe for all to take — so long as you don’t have a seafood allergy.

MoveWell Competitors and Alternatives

Anytime you come across a supplement, chances are you’ll also come across a wide range of competitors and alternatives that claim to do the same thing. Believe it or not, that’s the case with the MoveWell supplement and any supplement regarding joint and cartilage health.

Whether you’re unhappy with the proprietary blend or dissatisfied with the use of Krill Oil and the Zanthin Natural Astaxanthin (seafood-related), we have several other options to consider when trying to improve your joint and cartilage support on a daily basis. Let’s take a look at what’s in store!

Flex by Performance Lab

Flex by Performance Lab

Anytime you’re looking for a supplement, Performance Lab is a good place to start. They have a wide range of formulas to choose from, including their daily joint support formula called Performance Lab Flex. It’s designed to provide joint lubrication, shock absorption, and relief for stiff and achy joints.

The formula consists of CurcuWIN Turmeric, Boswellia serrata, Glucosamine Sulfate 2KCL, Mythocondro, OptiMSM, and Nutrigensis Strontium. They also boast prebiotic capsules, vegan-friendly, GMP-certified, non-GMO, caffeine-free, soy-free, and synthetic additive-free.

Each bottle comes with 60 capsules, and you’re directed to take two capsules per day for daily support. A bottle will cost you $39, which is a little more expensive than MoveWell™ Plus. With that said, you can earn yourself a free bottle when purchasing three bottles for $117.

Ancestral Supplements

Ancestral Supplements

While the MoveWell formula does a great job of providing marine-sourced joint support, Ancestral Supplements has two different formulas that are sourced from bovine (cattle) — Grassfed Collagen and Grassfed Trachea. Either one will do a lot for your joints and cartilage.

Grassfed Trachea provides the body with Glycosaminoglycans, Proteoglycans, Chondroitin Sulfates, and Type II Collagen from the tracheal-derived collagen. It also has 250mg of grass-fed bovine liver. You’ll need to take 6 capsules per serving, and it costs $44 for a one-month supply.

Grassfed Collagen is an even more intense formula. It provides the body with collagen derived from bovine trachea, scapula, and bone. You’ll still get a good amount of Glycosaminoglycans, Proteoglycans, Chondroitin Sulfates, and trace minerals. It’ll cost $58 for a one-month supply.

Collagen Protein by Bulletproof Protein

Collagen Protein by Bulletproof Protein

In the event, you’re looking for a collagen supplement that’s sourced from bovine, but the Ancestral Supplements formula is too intense for you, Bulletproof Protein has you covered. Their Collagen Protein formula is very simple yet extremely effective at the same time.

Bulletproof Collagen Protein contains 24 grams of Hydrolyzed Collagen, which is easily digested by the body. Since bovine collagen is high in Type II collagen, it’s an excellent supplement for joint and cartilage support. In addition to that, it’s a great formula for skin, bones, hair, nails, tendons, and ligaments.

It’s a powdered formula, so you’ll need to add it to your favorite beverage — don’t worry, it’s unflavored. A one-month supply will cost you $47.95, but you can save some money by purchasing a three-pack for $108. They also have a chocolate flavor and vanilla flavor.

Final Verdict: MoveWell

We really like what Live Conscious provides in their MoveWell formula. It might be just three ingredients, but those three ingredients pack a ton of daily joint and cartilage support. All you need is one capsule per day, which makes it extremely easy to add to your daily routine.

In the event your body doesn’t process seafood-related products well, there are other options for you out there. Flex by Performance Lab is a safe option, and Bulletproof Protein has a basic formula sourced from bovine. For the ultimate support, consider Ancestral Supplements.

Either way, make sure you’re staying physically active and following a healthy, balanced diet on a daily basis. Supplements are here to help, but they aren’t the only thing that will keep your joints and cartilage healthy long-term!
