Electrolyte supplements are often used by athletes and other fitness-minded people to support exercise performance.

As there become more options available, it’s important to find ones that are of the highest quality and contain only the nutrients you need, with nothing you don’t.

In this review, we’re going over an electrolyte supplement called Key Nutrients Electrolyte Recovery Plus (also known as Key Nutrients Electrolyte Powder) to see how useful it is for athletes, lifters, and other health-conscious individuals.

Keep reading this Key Nutrients Electrolyte Powder review to see what makes this electrolyte formula unique and if it’s truly worth buying.

This formula is completely free from carbs and calories too, which makes it a good option for people who only want the electrolytes and nothing else. And it’s also NSF-certified for Sport, which ensures that it’s highly safe for athletes to take.

It comes in powdered form and is available in eight different fruity flavors, so you can find out which is the most enjoyable.

Key Nutrients Electrolyte Powder Benefits

Key Nutrients Electrolyte Powder is designed to offer several benefits for various populations.

These benefits include:

  • Enhanced Hydration
  • Improved Energy
  • Keto Support
  • Exercise Performance & Recovery

Enhanced Hydration

Water is obviously the most important part of hydration. But you also need enough electrolytes and minerals, especially if you sweat a lot and/or are very active.

Key Nutrients Electrolyte Recovery Plus claims to provide enhanced hydration by giving your body the vital minerals and electrolytes it needs for cellular hydration.

Improved Energy

Vitamin and mineral deficiencies, along with dehydration, can cause fatigue and poor performance in whatever it is you’re doing.

Electrolyte Recovery Plus is designed to improve energy by recharging your body with electrolytes, B-vitamins, and other important nutrients.

Keto Support

If you switch over to a keto diet you may experience the “keto flu” which is often due to electrolyte deficiencies.

Key Nutrients Electrolyte Powder claims to offer specialized keto support by giving your body calcium, sodium, magnesium, and other vital electrolyte minerals.

Exercise Performance & Recovery

Athletes and other exercisers who go through highly intense, long-lasting workouts can use up boatloads of electrolytes. If you don’t replenish these, you’ll have impaired performance and worse recovery.

Electrolyte Recovery Plus is advertised to improve exercise performance and recovery by loading up your body with potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, and other important electrolytes.

Based on the ingredients, these benefits seem to make sense. But is Key Nutrients Electrolyte Recovery Plus truly a high-quality electrolyte supplement?

Key Nutrients Electrolyte Powder Supplement Facts

Electrolytes

There are six electrolytes in Key Nutrients Electrolyte Powder. These are sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, and phosphorus.

Key Nutrients uses roughly 100 to 200mg for these different electrolytes, which is nothing huge, but still enough to provide electrolyte support.

These different electrolytes have different functions. But they all are generally involved in muscle contractions, brain and nervous system health, heart function, and of course, hydration.

If you don’t get enough electrolytes, you may experience cramping, dehydration, fatigue, poor mental function, and other side effects.

Some people who may need more electrolytes include high-intensity athletes, people who work in really hot, humid environments, and possibly people who switch over to a keto diet.

B Vitamins

There are also five B-complex vitamins in this formula: thiamin (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), niacin (vitamin B3), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), and biotin (vitamin B7).

These B-complex vitamins may provide support for energy production, metabolism, and brain health

Athletes may also find that B-complex vitamins reduce fatigue and improve exercise performance, particularly endurance.

Trace Minerals

Key Nutrients Electrolyte Recovery Plus also has five trace minerals: zinc, selenium, chromium, molybdenum, and manganese.

Having a deficiency in any of these minerals can impair athletic performance and recovery. However, supplementation doesn’t seem to offer any huge benefits unless you don’t get enough from your diet.

Vitamin C

There’s also a pretty high dose of vitamin C in Electrolyte Recovery Plus. You probably know of this vitamin for immune support. But it also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, which may have benefits for exercise recovery

Does Key Nutrients Electrolyte Recovery Plus Work?

Key Nutrients Electrolyte Recovery Plus seems likely to work. It has six major electrolytes that are all important for muscle function, brain health, heart function, and other important areas.

The doses aren’t very high, but still could be useful for people who need more electrolyte minerals than the average individual, such as athletes or manual laborers.

We also like the inclusion of additional vitamins and minerals. There are many different ones in here that make it easier for you to get your nutrient requirements. And this can be useful especially if you have higher nutrient demands due to athletics, weight training, diet restrictions, or other factors.

Overall, we want to note that the benefits of electrolyte and micronutrient supplements in general aren’t massive. You won’t suddenly break an endurance PR by 20 seconds or recover twice as fast from exercise. But this product still should provide support for hydration, energy, exercise, and the keto diet, just like it says.

How Does Key Nutrients Electrolyte Powder Compare?

Key Nutrients Electrolyte Recovery Plus contains many of the same electrolytes used in other products. One of the most unique things about it is that it also has a variety of trace minerals and essential vitamins, which may make it more useful for some people.

One similar product is Dr. Berg’s Electrolyte Powder. It has all of the same electrolytes as Electrolyte Recovery Plus, except for phosphorus. But Dr. Berg’s formula also has a trace mineral complex, although it’s unclear which ones are in it. The main highlight is 1,000mg of potassium.

You can see the value of Key Nutrients electrolyte product when comparing the prices. After all, Dr. Berg’s Electrolyte Powder costs $33.99 for 50 servings whereas Key Nutrients Electrolyte Recovery Plus is only $34.99 for 90 servings, despite them both having similar formulas.

Another popular product is LMNT, which is known for its high sodium content. With 1,000mg of sodium, it may be more useful than Key Nutrients’ product for people who sweat a bunch during the day. However, LMNT only has two other electrolytes (magnesium and potassium), both of which are dosed lower than Electrolyte Recovery Plus.

And given that Key Nutrients Electrolyte Recovery Plus has other ingredients, it seems more of a well-rounded formula for people who want general vitamin and mineral support. Whereas LMNT is really for hard-charging athletes needing primarily more sodium.
