About Joint Advantage Gold 5x

Joint Advantage Gold 5x was developed by Dr. David Williams, with the intent of helping individuals who suffer from everyday joint pain and other related problems.

Williams Nutrition Joint Advantage Gold 5x

The main headline is that Joint Advantage Gold 5x is supposed to reduce joint discomfort starting in as little as seven days. A bold claim, no doubt. But does this claim, among other purported benefits, hold its own against the research? Let’s dive in to find out!

Joint Advantage Gold 5x Benefits

As noted above, the main claimed benefit of Joint Advantage Gold 5x is that it will reduce joint discomfort and stiffness. It also claims to improve joint flexibility and mobility and decrease inflammation.

Joint Advantage Gold 5x-Joint Pain

Reduced Discomfort and Stiffness

Joint Advantage Gold 5x is primarily featured by ApresFlex, an ingredient that contains Boswellia serrata extract, among other botanical properties which have a history of soothing joints for thousands of years. This product claims that ApresFlex has enhanced the bioavailability of this extract, leading to more efficient and effective results.

Joint Support, Flexibility, and Mobility

ApresFlex is also a main player in Joint Advantage Gold 5x to enhance overall joint support, flexibility, and mobility. So, you can see that this product is geared both towards reducing joint ailments and improving positive functional aspects of joint health.

But Joint Advantage Gold 5x contains more than just ApresFlex. This main compound is also supported by a number of other key ingredients, mainly glucosamine sulfate, eggshell membrane, and a number of exotic botanicals, all of which are supposed to aid in joint support, flexibility, and mobility.

Curb Inflammation

Inflammation is vital to keep at bay if you want to have optimal joint health, and Joint Advantage Gold 5x claims to reduce inflammation as well. They list that ApresFlex, along with a number of exotic botanicals included, is able to reduce key inflammatory markers, thus aiding joint health this way.

So, with all of this in mind, it looks like Joint Advantage Gold 5x could very well be a solid product for joint health. But as always, it is important to look specifically into the ingredients to see if there is research to back up the claims.

Joint Advantage Gold 5x Ingredients

Joint Advantage Gold 5x’s formula contains a variety of different ingredients that have the potential to improve joint health. The ingredients in this product are the following:

  • Boswellia serrata Extract (gum resin) (ApresFlex)
  • Eggshell Membrane (NEM)
  • HerbaZyme Soothing Blend
  • Glucosamine Sulfate 2KCl
  • Bovine Cartilage
  • Calcium
  • Chloride
  • Potassium

One last thing to mention before reviewing the specific ingredients is that the serving size is two capsules, but the “doctor’s suggested use” is 4 capsules daily. We will be listing the amounts of the ingredients based on the doctor’s suggested dose since that is what they appear to recommend.

Joint Advantage Gold 5x-Supplement Facts

Boswellia serrata extract (gum resin) (ApresFlex)

The most-cited ingredient in this product is ApresFlex. And if you take the suggested dose of four capsules, you’ll be getting 100mg. Boswellia serrata has been used for thousands of years to treat joint issues, but ApresFlex differs from traditional use because it also contains natural compounds from the Boswellia tree that, when added alongside the extract, help to improve absorption.

ApresFlex has some solid research backing it up as well. Various clinical studies show that taking 100mg can improve joint health starting in as little as five days, and that it is much more effective than placebos. And after taking it over 30 days, individuals noted over 40% improvement in joint comfort and stiffness and nearly 40% improvement in functional ability.

On top of this, research has shown that ApresFlex reduces a number of inflammatory markers and inhibits various inflammatory pathways in the body. It is also proven to be 21 % more effective than a leading Boswellia extract in reducing inflammation.

Eggshell Membrane (NEM)

Another ingredient in the product is eggshell membrane (NEM). This product contains 500mg per four capsules. Natural eggshell membrane has a number of active compounds, mainly glycosaminoglycans, such as chondroitin sulfate, which may improve joint health and connectivity. The compounds in it are also known to regenerate cartilage and play a role in a number of immune and inflammatory pathways.

Research on eggshell membrane (NEM) is also solid. 500mg daily leads to reductions in everyday joint aches and discomfort and is also effective at reducing pain in those with osteoarthritis. Furthermore, this same dose can lead to a significant decrease in joint discomfort after exercise compared to placebo. Notably, some of these benefits can occur in as little as seven to 10 days, and these benefits also continue for the long term.

HerbaZyme Soothing Blend

Next in line is HerbaZyme Soothing Blend, which contains a number of individual herbs and plants from around the world. The total proprietary blend weighs in at 400mg per four capsules and includes extracts of the following herbs/plants:

  • Hibiscus
  • Devil’s Claw
  • White Willow
  • Yucca
  • Feverfew
  • Celery Seed
  • Papaya
  • Bromelain (from pineapple)

The main benefit of this blend is that all of these ingredients are anti-inflammatory and contain a high number of antioxidants. The problem is that it is unclear how much of each ingredient is in this blend. This is always an issue for any product that contains a proprietary blend.

It is impossible to tell how many mg of hibiscus, yucca, papaya, etc., are in this product; therefore, the exact nature of the anti-inflammatory properties can’t be stated definitively, which is a downfall. Nonetheless, given that all of the ingredients are similar in their healing nature, this blend will likely provide at least some benefit.

Glucosamine Sulfate 2KCL

Joint Advantage Gold 5x also contains 1500mg of glucosamine sulfate per four capsules. Glucosamine, a natural compound found in cartilage, is one of the most widely-researched and well-known ingredients for joint health. And the specific form of glucosamine sulfate is used to reduce many of the symptoms of osteoarthritis. Research shows that glucosamine sulfate reduces joint pain and stiffness in those with osteoarthritis and can help to slow the breakdown of cartilage.

Bovine Cartilage

Did this name grab your attention? Yes, there is also bovine cartilage in this product, which is cartilage from cows. This product contains 100mg per four capsules. The premise behind this ingredient is that certain chemicals in bovine cartilage may help restore cartilage in individuals with osteoarthritis. However, research is limited, and there is not enough evidence to definitively state if it is beneficial or not.

Calcium, Chloride, and Potassium

Finally, this product contains additional calcium, chloride, and potassium in the amounts of 170, 166, and 176mg, respectively, per four capsules. Calcium is needed for proper bone growth and function, yet research for its benefits on joint pain is less prominent. Plus, at such as low percentage of the daily value (14%), it is unlikely to provide any major benefit. Next, chloride by itself seems to have no specific benefits on joints. Finally, very high potassium levels are known to have a pain-killer effect in those with arthritis, but the dosage needed to achieve this is well beyond the amount listed in this product. Thus, these final ingredients don’t appear to offer much benefit for joint health. They may play a nice supporting role to the main players in this product, but even that is speculative.

Does Joint Advantage Gold 5x Work?

There are many joint health supplements out there, from Joint Vibrance to MoveMD, and some work while some don’t. So, how does Joint Advantage measure up? Considering all of the information so far, it seems very likely that Joint Advantage Gold 5x will work. The main reason for this is that the product contains many research-backed ingredients, primarily ApresFlex, eggshell membrane (NEM), and glucosamine sulfate. All of these ingredients have been used in numerous clinical and human studies showing that they reduce joint pain and stiffness, improve joint flexibility and mobility, and aid in fighting inflammation.

Some Concerns

Now, there are a few concerns with regard to efficacy. The first relates to the HerbaZyme blend, given that it doesn’t list the specific amounts of the individual ingredients within that blend. However, given that they are all anti-inflammatory and offer antioxidant support, it is likely that users will gain at least some anti-inflammatory benefit regardless of what exact combination of dosages is used in the blend.

Lastly, there is a concern related to the lack of research and proven efficacy for bovine cartilage, calcium, chloride, and potassium. Dosages for the latter three are also relatively small and thus unlikely to provide much additional benefit.

Nonetheless, the positives of this supplement appear to weigh out the limitations. Despite a few lackluster ingredients, Joint Advantage Gold 5x is highlighted by some of the best joint health ingredients on the market today and is likely to provide both short-term and continuous joint support.

Joint Advantage Gold 5x Dosage

Another big plus is that the dosage for these ingredients in Joint Advantage Gold 5x specifically corresponds to the dosage used in the studies. Many supplement companies out there claim specific benefits of their products due to specific ingredients, even if the dose is minuscule and likely to not do anything of value. But Joint Advantage Gold 5x took the time to ensure that the dosage they used was actually verified by research.

Joint Advantage Gold 5x-Effective Dosage

As a reminder, though, the doctor’s recommended dose of four capsules, rather than the serving size of two capsules, provides the exact dosages used in most of the studies, so this will be the most effective dose.

Claims vs. Reality

Okay, so you understand that Joint Advantage Gold 5x is likely to work. But is it able to hold up to its big claim of reducing joint discomfort in as little as seven days? Well, based on the research, the answer is likely yes.

ApresFlex is clinically researched to reduce joint discomfort and stiffness in as little as seven days. As for some of the other ingredients, eggshell membrane (NEM) starts providing benefits for joint aches, pain, and discomfort in around seven to 10 days. It’s hard to tell whether the other ingredients will work as fast since there is not as much research. But given that two of the main players start providing benefits around seven days, this claim is likely to hold true. Even if it doesn’t work as fast as that, based on the research, it should still start working very close within that time period.

Who is Joint Advantage Gold 5x Best for?

Based on the available evidence, Joint Advantage Gold 5x is for the person who experiences everyday joint aches, pains, stiffness, and discomfort. For these individuals, this product may very well be all they need to receive relief.

Individuals with osteoarthritis and other more serious concerns will also benefit from this product, but they should be particularly cautious about expecting a cure-all from this product, given that their issues are more complex.

Is Joint Advantage Gold 5x Safe?

Overall, Joint Advantage Gold 5x appears to be a safe product. It has a number of standards and processes to ensure safety, such as producing in accordance with the FDA’s best practices and assuring quality with their Triple-Testing Philosophy. There are also no known side effects of eggshell membrane (NEM), and most of the other ingredients have minimal concern for side effects.

Although these side effects are unlikely, they still need to be noted. Side effects of Boswellia (which is in the ApresFlex) and glucosamine include nausea, acid reflux, heartburn, and diarrhea. As for bovine cartilage, you may want to avoid it if pregnant or breastfeeding as it is unknown if there will be any effects. Lastly, some of the ingredients in the HerbaZyme blend, such as yucca and feverfew, sometimes lead to digestive issues, including nausea, bloating, and acid reflux, but these are rare. Overall, this product appears to be safe with minimal side effects.
