GOOPGLOW Review

Keeping up with a healthy lifestyle can be challenging. Staying active, eating 5-7 servings of fruits and veggies each day, getting at least 8 hours of sleep every night, keeping stress in check, choosing non-toxic products, keeping up with a regular skincare routine, and the list goes on. With so many things to consider, it can be overwhelming to stay on top of everything.

Because of this, many consumers have started reaching for combination multivitamin supplements, such as GOOPGLOW Everyday Glow multivitamins. With essential nutrients and antioxidants, this supplement claims to cover daily nutritional bases and support glowing skin and healthy hair from the inside out, but does it live up to these claims or is it just a well-marketed multivitamin?

Multivitamins

Multivitamins are supplements that contain multiple vitamins and minerals, alongside other ingredients. They are among one of the most popular types of supplements in the world. Multivitamins can be beneficial for some populations, including vegetarians, vegans, older populations, and those who have undergone weight loss surgery or who have a restricted diet due to allergies or intolerances.

Multivitamins are best for those who are likely to have nutrient deficiencies however, research has found only limited evidence to suggest a benefit for those without deficiencies to take additional vitamins and minerals through supplements.

Some small studies have found multivitamin use to help improve memory and mood. Other research has found the antioxidant content in some multivitamins may help stave off various eye diseases. Taking a multivitamin supplement will likely not harm you if taken as prescribed however, its benefits remain up in the air.

Ashwagandha root extract

Ashwagandha is a popular adaptogenic herb used in Ayurvedic medicine. It is best known for its ability to combat stress by helping to reduce the stress response. One small study found those who took Ashwagandha extract showed a reduction in perceived stress and production of cortisol than those in the control group. They also showed an improvement in sleep.

Another small study showed participants taking Ashwagandha extract had a significant anxiety reduction. Unfortunately, there is no evidence currently to show an exact effective dose to treat stress and anxiety.

Lycopene

Lycopene is an antioxidant that may protect against certain types of cancer, including breast, prostate, and lung cancer. It is part of the carotenoid family and is well-known for its presence in tomatoes. A 2015 review of 26 different studies found those who consumed high amounts of lycopene had a 9% lower chance of developing prostate cancer. Lycopene has also been found to benefit heart health due to its antioxidant effects, which help to protect the body against free radicals.

Does GOOPGLOW Work?

GOOPGLOW Everyday Glow Multivitamin may be beneficial for certain populations however, there is no adequate evidence to show that taking this supplement will provide all the benefits claimed on the bottle. Those who are lacking a balanced diet or cannot or do not like a variety of food groups will likely find this product to work well for them to supplement what they are unable to get from food. Subsequently, those who suffer from high-stress levels or who don’t do well with traditional stress management practices may find this product to be helpful.

Who is GOOPGLOW Best For?

GOOPGLOW is best for healthy individuals without underlying medical conditions. Those who would benefit the most from this product are those with possible nutrient deficiencies or challenges getting adequate vitamins and minerals in their diets, such as vegetarians, vegans, older individuals, or those who have undergone weight loss surgery. Those with underlying medical conditions or who are pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant, should avoid this product. Always ask your healthcare provider before adding a supplement to your routine. Some ingredients in this product may interact with certain medications.

Claims vs. Reality

GOOPGLOW claims to support healthy hair, skin, and nails, healthy immune function, nervous system health and cognitive function, stress response, healthy energy metabolism, bone health, thyroid health, and healthy red blood cell formation. Based on the current research available, some of these claims have merit.

Ashwagandha does have a fair amount of research to support its benefits regarding the stress response, and the antioxidants in lycopene do support a myriad of body systems with its antioxidant properties. Various vitamins and minerals have been shown to support immune function, energy metabolism, bone health, and red blood cell formation however, this is often in those who are lacking the nutrients from diet who will benefit the most. All in all, this supplement contains a lot of beneficial ingredients, but its claims may not be a reality for all consumers.

Is GOOPGLOW Safe?

Taking a multivitamin supplement will likely not harm you if taken as prescribed however, high doses of some vitamins and minerals can be harmful. This is most likely to occur in those who have a nutrient-dense diet along with a high-potency multivitamin. Certain vitamins and minerals to pay attention to include fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, along with iron.

Ashwagandha is considered safe for most people however, there are limited studies available on its long-term effects and appropriating dosing. Those who are pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant should avoid taking Ashwagandha root supplements. It may also interact with the thyroid therefore, those with thyroid disease may want to steer clear of this supplement as well.

Lycopene is also considered safe for most however those who are pregnant or who are taking certain medications should avoid this supplement.
