Essential Elements is a company that’s here to support your good health safely, naturally, and affordably. They produce high-quality supplements that consider your needs every step of the way–which, when it comes to their Elderberry Gummies, clearly includes using a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.

But do their confections bolster your immune health as much as they please the palate? There are a couple of options out there for elderberry supplements, so how do these gummies truly stack up?

Let’s find out in this review of Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies!

About Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies

Gummy forms of supplements are becoming all the rage as they combine health benefits with a tasty twist. There’s Goli Ashwa gummies, Hydroxycut Gummies, Olly Sleep Gummies, and the list goes on. So, why not get your elderberry in gummy form too? Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies are gummy supplements that combine herbs, vitamins, and bee spit (we’ll explain in a bit) all in one tasty little lump of sugar meant to bolster your immune system with its antioxidant-rich combination of ingredients. Its primary ingredient–Sambucus nigra, or black elderberry—has become a popular addition to cold and flu preventive treatments for the simple fact that it works; and the other key ingredients in Essential Element’s formula also combine for a multi-pronged, synergistic approach at keeping your immune health strong and active.

Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies Benefits

Improves Immune Response

Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies are packed with antioxidants that free your immune system from its fight against free radicals and inflammation, which allows it to produce a strong response against infections such as cold or flu virus.

The product also contains propolis, which is a type of compound formed by bees and used as a glue in hives, and it’s also found in honey. It has natural antifungal and antibacterial properties that not only protects hives and the bees within but can help guard your health as well.

Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies Boost Immune System

Contains All-natural, but Effective Ingredients

Protecting your health using an all-natural supplement is only part of the equation since it needs to be a supplement that actually works.

With Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies, you’re in luck since elderberries have not only been used for thousands of years for their immune-boosting properties, modern science agrees that they can prevent and reduce the duration of colds. This goes along with the product’s other ingredients, including vitamin C and echinacea, which are common go-to’s during cold-and-flu season simply because they work.

As Safe for Children as it is Easy to Administer

As Mary Poppins pointed out to us so many years ago, a spoonful of sugar does indeed help the medicine go down. By producing their supplement in the form of candy, getting little Suzie and Johnny to take their medicine won’t be a problem, and while the product does contain some sugars we’d rather not see in a “healthy” product, it is a relatively minimal amount that also includes some natural flavors that we do approve of.

Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies Ingredients

Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies’ formula contains vitamin C, echinacea purpurea extract, propolis extract, Sambucus nigra (Elderberry) Extract, cane sugar, and corn syrup. Below we will take a thorough look at each of these ingredients and their uses.

Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies Supplement Facts

Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid) 70 mg

Most of us are aware of vitamin C’s relationship with immune health, which, thanks to it being a potent antioxidant, is a positive one. There is also more to this common water-soluble vitamin than just that since it also helps your body absorb iron, reduces the risk of cancer, helps keep joints free and mobile, boosts cardiovascular health, and more.

Much of this is due to its ability to fight free radicals and relieve oxidative stress throughout the body—something which helps everything from your skin’s elasticity to your ability to think clearly.

But since Essential Elements doesn’t indicate a food source of the vitamin C they use here, we can only assume that like about 80% of all ascorbic acid in this country; it’s sourced from GMO corn and shipped from China—a country with control over nearly the entire world’s ascorbic acid market. We’ll skip on the politics, and of course, just because it’s from China doesn’t make it bad, though what does make it bad is its lack of diversity and status as a GMO crop—something else which may-or-may-not be a bad thing, just that we don’t know yet and most of us interested in optimizing our health would prefer to error on the side of caution.

So far as its lack of diversity, we would ideally like to see at least 2-or-3 food sources of vitamin C, such as from rosehips, acerola cherries, or citrus, since a variety of sources may increase the vitamin’s bioavailability and absorbency.

A good example of what we mean is Vitamin Code Raw Vitamin C, which would be a good product to pair up with Elderberry Gummies to enhance your vitamin C absorption and quality. Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C is another solid vitamin C supplement; it includes essential phospholipids, which better help transport vitamin C into the bloodstream.

Better yet, eat a diet high in vitamin C-rich foods such as berries, leafy greens, citrus fruits, and rosehips and skip the pills! It’s a tasty way to stay healthy.

Echinacea Purpurea Extract 400 mg

This type of daisy native to North America was originally used by Native Americans to treat many conditions, including those brought on by a weak immune system. It contains potent antioxidants to pair up with those in the product’s vitamin C and elderberry so that your immune system can spend less time battling inflammation and more time being strong and ready to kick the ass of any virus that tries to enter.

Plus, antioxidants don’t stop at boosting immune health since they help your brain health, joint health, skin health, and, well, we could go on since reducing inflammation is one of the best things you can do to remain healthy from head-to-toe.

Propolis Extract 100 mg

This sticky substance made up of bee spit, tree sap, and wax is what bees use to coat and protect their hives. Thousands of years ago, it was also discovered that propolis works well at treating wounds to get them to heal faster.

That, and it’s great for embalming mummies, just in case you need to send any souls to the afterlife.

But so far as its practical purposes, it contains polyphenols which act as potent antioxidants, and it also has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. This makes it not only effective at preventing you from catching viral or bacterial infections, but it also speeds up the healing of cold and herpes sores, and it’s thought to have properties that may be beneficial in preventing and possibly treating cancer as well.

Sambucus Nigra (Elderberry) Extract 200 mg

In ancient times it was used for everything from treating infections to helping improve complexions, and today elderberry is most commonly associated with its ability to prevent and shorten the duration of colds and flus.

Modern science also agrees with this, with studies showing elderberry syrup to be effective in reducing cold and flu symptoms by as much as 4-days, which is clearly significant!

Cane Sugar & Corn Syrup

Now, onto the stuff, we’d rather not see in an otherwise healthy supplement, which includes corn syrup and all its high-fructose glory. Sure, elderberry being a toxic plant may not be bursting with sweetness, to begin with (don’t worry, that’s raw elderberry, not the extract used here), meaning some may want to heed Mary Poppin’s advice to get it down. However, we’d prefer to see something a bit more beneficial through-and-through—perhaps a version that uses honey both as a source of propolis and sweetener? It’s still sugar, though honey does have other beneficial properties to it, such as making an excellent cough expectorant.

Even so, we may be splitting hairs here and shaking our finger over what amounts to around 4-grams of added sugar per-dose, though this does add up, and it’s something healthy people avoid for a reason—a very GOOD reason.

Do Essential Elements Elderberry Gummies Work?

All joking aside, the product is ideal for air travelers, those unable to avoid crowds during cold and flu season, and anyone else who wants to reduce their body’s inflammation and stay healthy. This includes kids, for who the product is not only perfectly safe for, but will love that it’s….candy!
