1st Phorm Ignition Review

Post-workout nutrition has been long held as a crucial aspect of muscle and strength building and recovery optimization. Perhaps you’ve even heard the term “anabolic window” thrown around to discuss the critical time period to ingest nutrients after a workout.

And while there is some debate about the degree to which this is necessary, the overall picture is that post-workout nutrition NEVER hurts, and always helps to some degree. This is why there are various supplements out there designed to enhance post-workout nutrition, such as the product in today’s article: 1st Phorm Ignition.

The question is, is 1st Phorm Ignition really the right pick when it comes to post-workout needs? That’s what we’ll find out. In this 1st Phorm Ignition review, we’ll take a more thorough look at this supplement, its ingredients, its benefits, and whether or not it’s truly worth the price. Ready? Let’s get started!

About 1st Phorm Ignition

Ignition was created by a pretty popular company called 1st Phorm. Highlighted by pure dexanhydrous glucose, Ignition is what 1st Phorm calls a “glycogen replenishment formula,” and it is supposed to be consumed immediately after working out to help shuttle nutrients to your cells and kickstart the recovery process. It actually can be taken before or during workouts too, but it is primarily advertised as a post-workout product.

1st Phorm Ignition Supplement

1st Phorm Ignition’s main goal is to replenish glycogen stores and spike insulin, which they say will optimize recovery. It is designed to work in tandem with a post-workout protein shake to give your body critical nutrients in a very efficient manner.

1st Phorm Ignition Benefits

The main benefits of 1st Phorm Ignition are improved muscle stamina, greater muscle growth, and decreased recovery time. Enhanced muscular stamina would occur if you take the product before your workout, but the other benefits are related to Ignition’s effects as a post-workout.

Greater muscle growth and decreased recovery time of these are due to the effects of replenishing glycogen stores and spiking insulin, which they say creates a better anabolic environment for the muscles and leads to higher protein synthesis. And the more efficiently you move into an anabolic environment after a workout, they say, the more likely it is that you’ll gain muscle and recovery properly.

1st Phorm Ignition Supplement Facts

Unlike other post-workouts, like Clear Muscle, that have a simpler formula, 1st Phorm Ignition makes use of quite the list of ingredients. Despite this long list, though, the main ingredient in Ignition is pure dexanhydrous glucose, so that will be the main focus of the review.

Pure Dexanhydrous Glucose

Ignition is by and large featured by its main ingredient, pure dexanhydrous glucose. This is a fast-absorbing carbohydrate source that has a very high glycemic index.

Pure dexanhydrous glucose thus efficiently restores glycogen levels that are depleted from intense exercise and also increases insulin significantly since it is a high glycemic-index carbohydrate. This allows glucose to be shuttled to the muscles for enhanced growth and recovery and also stimulates glycogen resynthesis.

Furthermore, insulin spikes can also increase muscle protein synthesis and help mitigate muscle protein breakdown, which also benefits recovery. And this is why pure dexanhydrous glucose is a great complement to a post-workout protein shake. Overall, pure dexanhydrous glucose allows the body to shift from a catabolic to anabolic state rather quickly.

Research shows that at least .5g/kg up to 1.5g/kg of carbohydrates following a workout can help reduce muscle protein breakdown, maximize glycogen replenishment, and optimize recovery. Carbohydrates also help to decrease inflammation and prevent immune system suppression that sometimes occurs during intense exercise, both of which play a role in recovery optimization too. Overall, pure dexanhydrous glucose is a high-quality carbohydrate source to shuttle nutrients to the muscles and jumpstart the recovery process.

Vitamins and Minerals

There are also many vitamins and minerals included in 1st Phorm Ignition, but since these really aren’t main ingredients, I’ll just briefly cover their role here.

All vitamins and minerals are essential for many metabolic processes and are involved in various functions related to exercise recovery, such as carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism; oxygen transport and delivery; and the regeneration of tissue (e.g., in skeletal muscle). Also, intense exercise can deplete various vitamins and minerals (e.g., magnesium, various B-vitamins, zinc), so supplementing with these can help exercisers reach their daily requirements and prevent deficiencies.

Does 1st Phorm Ignition Work?

1st Phorm Ignition Container

It is very likely that Ignition will give you a boost in workout recovery and muscle gain. The research is very clear that post-workout nutrition benefits muscle gain and recovery. In particular, fast-absorbing, high-glycemic-index carbohydrates are the best forms to consume as they replenish glycogen stores the quickest and spike insulin the most, leading to the most efficient nutrient replenishment. And pure dexanhydrous glucose is the epitome of that particular carbohydrate source.

Claims vs. Reality

1st Phorm Ignition is supposed to improve muscle stamina, increase overall muscle growth, and decrease recovery time. If you take Ignition before a workout, you will most likely experience improved muscle stamina because the muscles will be provided with glucose, which is essential for energy.

And you will also most likely experience better muscle growth and decreased recovery time if you take ignition post-workout. The pure dexanhydrous glucose in Ignition quickly spikes insulin, replenishes glycogen stores, and helps to maximize protein synthesis. And by giving your muscles the nutrients they need, this opens the door up for bigger muscle gains and better recovery.

You’re not going to suddenly turn into the Hulk and be able to recover overnight when taking Ignition, but it should help to give you greater benefits than what you’ve currently been doing.

Who is 1st Phorm Ignition Best For?

1st Phorm Ignition is best for people who engage in a lot of high-intensity exercise. High-intensity exercise depletes glycogen the most, so Ignition is a great way to start the recovery process after intense workouts.

Is 1st Phorm Ignition Safe?

Overall, Ignition is pretty safe, especially if you take it before, during, or after a workout. But it can spike insulin rapidly, so anyone with blood sugar issues might be negatively affected. I also wouldn’t recommend taking it anytime outside of when you work out because this provides an unnecessary spike in insulin.

FAQ: 1st Phorm Ignition Review

How much should I take post-workout?

The amount of 1st Phorm Ignition you’ll need depends on your body weight. At a dose of 43 grams of carbs per serving, this might not be enough (or too much) depending on how much you weigh and/or how intense/long-lasting the exercise session was.

Recall that at least .5g/kg up to 1.5g/kg of carbs are needed after a workout for optimal recovery. So, as an example, if you weigh 150 pounds (68kg), that means at least 34g up to 102g of carbs are needed for optimal results. You may have to do a little trial and error to see what works best, but always start at at least .5g/kg of bodyweight.
