Nugenix Thermo Review

Metabolism is often a term that comes up when talking about fat loss. Perhaps you’ve heard people say, “I have a slow metabolism, so it’s harder for me to lose weight”. Perhaps you’re even one of those people.

Now, the truth is that, yes, metabolism does have something to do with weight loss, but you have a lot of control over how well your metabolism operates. Diet, lifestyle, and other factors all play a role. Additionally, supplementation may help as long as the supplement includes quality ingredients.

About Nugenix Thermo

Thermo is a supplement created by well-known company, Nugenix. They aim to create high-quality supplements to help you meet your fitness goals. In addition to Thermo, Nugenix has also produced Nugenix Maxx, Nugenix Total-T, and Nugenix GH-Boost, among other supplements.

Nugenix Thermo is designed to be an “extreme metabolic accelerator”, lighting the fire that is your metabolism to help you shred off fat. It says that it features clinically-researched ingredients to increase thermogenesis and help you lose weight(fat). Thermogenesis is how the body produces heat, and heat production, of course, takes energy. Thus, by increasing the production of heat, you can ultimately expect to use more energy and lose weight.

Nugenix Thermo Benefits

The main claimed benefits of Nugenix Thermo are that it will support a healthy metabolism, reduce fat, improve body composition, and boost your metabolic rate. To do all of these things, Nugenix Thermo contains a blend of various ingredients, such as key vitamins and minerals, fruit and herbal extracts, and sympathetic nervous system stimulants. With this product, not only are you supposed to lose weight, continued use should help you be able to keep the weight off over time.

Nugenix Thermo For Weight Loss

This all sounds good, of course, and many people today could no doubt benefit from fat loss. However, will Nugenix Thermo actually provide these benefits? If you want to know the answer, keep reading below.

Nugenix Thermo Ingredients

Nugenix Thermo’s formula contains quite a few ingredients, many of which are trademarked forms. I will note those specific forms when I analyze each one by one. But the ingredients themselves are:

(Note: Dose is based on the serving size of two capsules)

  • Vitamin C (17mg)
  • Niacin (16mg)
  • Chromium (Chromax) (200mcg)
  • Sicilian Red Orange Extract (Morosil) (400mg)
  • Caffeine (as anhydrous) (154mg)
  • Cayenne Extract (Capsimax) (100mg)
  • Coleus forskohlii Extract (100mg)
  • Green Coffee Extract (75mg)
  • Whole Coffee Fruit Extract (CoffeeBerry) 50mg
  • Ginger Extract (50mg)
  • Guarana Extract (50mg)
  • Green Tea Extract (50mg)
  • L-Carnitine L-Tartrate (Carnipure) (30mg)

Ok, did you get all that? Now, let’s take a look at each ingredient, one by one.

(Exception is vitamin C because it simply comes from another ingredient, Morosil.)

Nugenix Thermo Supplement Facts

Niacin

Up first on the list is Niacin. Also called vitamin B3, Niacin is a B-complex vitamin that helps your body turn food into energy. Some research also shows that it can help increase thermogenesis in fat tissue, possibly helping you to burn fat. However, there isn’t enough research to state that it will definitely help you to lose weight.

Chromium (Chromax)

The next ingredient in Nugenix Thermo is chromium in the specific form of Chromax. Chromium is an essential nutrient involved in carbohydrate and lipid (fat) metabolism, and it has effects on glucose and insulin. Some research also shows that it can help increase lean body mass and decrease body fat, thus improving body composition. Yet, researchers note that chromium is only a small factor in overall fat loss efforts. 200 to 400mcg appears to be an effective dose.

Sicilian Red Orange Extract (Morosil)

Another trademarked ingredient is Morosil, which is a form of the fancy-sounding Sicilian red orange extract. Red-orange is rich in a number of compounds, such as anthocyanins, that are known to have anti-obesity effects. Research also shows that 400mg of Morosil leads to significant reductions in body fat, and lower body weight, BMI, and waist, and hip circumference compared to placebo. Overall, it is effective for weight management and obesity prevention.

Caffeine Anhydrous

Another ingredient in Thermo is caffeine anhydrous. It is not surprising to see caffeine in here since it is a stimulant, which increases metabolic rate and promotes thermogenesis. All stimulants also decrease appetite, which could play a role too. Overall, caffeine supplementation is associated with reductions in weight, fat mass, and BMI. Also, to a point, higher intake leads to better results. Nugenix Thermo includes 154mg of caffeine, with effective doses being around 3 to 5mg/kg of body weight. While this amount is fairly usual in the fat burner market, some may find that they are sensitive to caffeine. If that sounds like you, you may want to consider an alternative, such as Burn Lab Pro, that has no caffeine.

Cayenne Extract (Capsimax)

Next up is cayenne pepper extract in the form of Capsimax. Cayenne peppers contain a number of beneficial compounds, mainly capsaicinoids and capsinoids (responsible for the “holy s#&* that’s hot!” sensation). So, besides causing your mouth to burn, these compounds are also known to increase thermogenesis and lipolysis (breakdown of fats), and they also lead to more weight loss.

Capsimax supplementation leads to increased metabolic rate and greater weight and fat loss, as well as a reduced appetite. Research typically uses 2 to 4mg of capsaicinoids within 100 to 200mg total of cayenne extract.

Coleus forskohlii

The next ingredient listed is Coleus forskohlii, which has a few common names, including forskolin. Forskolin is a mint plant that has a number of medicinal uses. Certain compounds in its roots are known to increase lipolysis and may lead to weight loss. Some research shows it can reduce hunger, improve feelings of fullness, and decrease body fat, but more research is needed. The typical amount used is 250mg.

Green Coffee Extract

Thermo also contains green coffee extract. Green coffee refers to the raw beans of the coffee plant. It contains caffeine, polyphenols, and other antioxidants, all of which are related to weight loss. A recent overview showed that green coffee extract supplementation leads to a significant reduction in body weight, BMI, and waist circumference, but not as much of an effect on body fat percentage. Ideally, there needs to be more research, but it seems to be an effective aid. Research has used 60mg all the way up to 400mg.

Whole Coffee Fruit Extract (CoffeeBerry)

Thermo contains yet another ingredient involving coffee/caffeine. This time, it’s whole coffee fruit extract in the form of CoffeeBerry. Since it contains the whole coffee fruit, it contains a number of antioxidants and healthy compounds. However, there isn’t much research on this for fat loss, although there is evidence that it can reduce fatigue and improve energy/alertness. With the other coffee-related ingredients, Thermo probably could’ve left this one on the sideline, but it might add a small amount of value alongside the other players.

Ginger Extract

Yet another extract included in this formula is ginger extract. Ginger is an herb that has a number of benefits, many of which stem from the root of the plant (no pun intended). It has a number of compounds involved in insulin sensitivity and glucose control, as well as fat storage and thermogenesis. Overall, ginger supplementation appears to help you lose weight and fat, though the effects are modest.

Guarana Extract

Thermo also contains guarana extract. Guarana is an herb primarily found in South America. It has twice the caffeine content of coffee beans based on dry weight. It also has many beneficial compounds, such as catechins and antioxidants. Guarana may also help decrease appetite and energy consumption. Effective doses start at 200mg daily.

Green Tea Extract

The last extract listed in Thermo is green tea extract, which is another classic fat-burner possibly even as popular as caffeine. Green tea has a number of healthy compounds like many of the other ingredients, such as catechins and tannins. Green tea extract may also help to suppress appetite and increase thermogenesis. Research shows it may improve fat and glucose metabolism and may lead to reductions in weight loss, though the effects are modest.

L-Carnitine L-Tartrate (Carnipure)

The final ingredient listed in this product is L-Carnitine L-Tartrate in the form of Carnipure. L-carnitine is an amino acid derivative that helps the body turn fat into energy by moving fatty acids into the cells. Thus, the thinking is that using fat for energy will lead to greater fat loss.

Indeed, it does appear that l-carnitine supplementation reduces body weight, BMI, and fat mass, especially in overweight/obese people. Again, though, the effects are moderate. The typical dosage is 500mg all the way to 2g.

Does Nugenix Thermo Work?

Alright, so we’ve plowed through looking at all of the ingredients. And based on the overall analysis, it is likely that Thermo will give you some benefits, but the effects will probably be moderate.

Thermo does contain a number of well-researched ingredients and usually uses effective doses for these ingredients. This is especially true for Chromax, Morosil, Capsimax, caffeine anhydrous, and green coffee extract.

However, they probably should’ve put in more CoffeeBerry, guarana, forskolin, and green tea extract. And the dose for Carnipure was much lower than the effective dose based on research.

Also, some things in it aren’t likely to do much, such as Niacin.

Overall, though, there is enough evidence to claim that this product will provide some benefits in the weight loss department, especially alongside traditional weight loss efforts.

Nugenix Thermo - Capsules

Claims vs. Reality

So, let’s bring back into focus the claims of this supplement: increased thermogenesis and metabolism, reduced body fat and weight, and improved body composition. Based on the ingredients in here and their doses, it is likely that these things will occur. A number of ingredients in Thermo are proven to increase thermogenesis and metabolism, including Niacin, Chromax, caffeine, green tea extract, CapsiMax, ginger, and guarana.

Furthermore, many of those same ingredients, along with others such as Carnipure, forskolin, and Morosil, are proven to reduce body fat and weight and sometimes improve body composition.

The research, overall, shows modest benefits of these ingredients, so I wouldn’t expect anything spectacular. But you definitely should expect some improvements, not only in weight loss and body composition but possibly metabolic markers, such as glucose and insulin. And for some people, just a little extra boost might be all that you need, which would then make this product a potentially very good option.

Who is Nugenix Thermo Best for?

This leads me into the next point about discussing who would benefit the most from Thermo. Based on the research, Nugenix Thermo should provide the most benefits for people who are significantly obese/overweight rather than people that need to lose just a little fat (although it helps in those situations too).

The reason that people who have more fat could benefit the most is because they often struggle with insulin resistance, abnormal glucose levels, and overall suboptimal metabolic functioning. So, this product could help these people not only lose fat and body weight but also to improve some markers of metabolic dysfunction that are usually co-occurring. And again, this isn’t a cure-all for those ailments, but Thermo should act as a “helping hand” to a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Is Nugenix Thermo Safe?

Due to the many ingredients in Nugenix Thermo, it is highly important to see if they might have any side effects. As an overall product, Nugenix Thermo appears relatively safe, but here are some things to look out for:

  • All stimulants can cause anxiety, jitteriness, insomnia, and similar effects, especially in sensitive individuals. So this could occur with caffeine, green tea extract, guarana extract, and CoffeeBerry.
  • Niacin can cause flushing, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, itchiness, nausea, abdominal pain, and other symptoms.
  • Cayenne extract can sometimes cause an upset stomach or heartburn.
  • Forskolin may affect heart rate and blood pressure.
  • L-carnitine may cause stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhea, trouble sleeping, and higher blood pressure.
