From Australia, Ruby Rose moved around a lot as a child with her 20-year-old single mom. Rose entered the model competition Girlfriend in 2002 and came in 2nd. Later, she competed to become a VJ for MTV in Australia and acted as a guest judge on Australia’s Next Top Model. Rose has hosted other venues including the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards. She found small roles in tv and film, and her breakout came in 2015 in the 3rd season of Orange Is the New Black. In 2018, she was cast as Batwoman but only stayed for 1 season. She is a brand ambassador for JVC, Urban Decay cosmetics and Maybelline. She has collaborated on various fashion lines including Milk and Honey and Phoebe Dahl. Rose is openly gay and calls herself ‘gender fluid.’ She supports several charities, including PETA, and she volunteers in Laos and Africa every year. Rose has millions of followers on social media. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 110 lbs.
Ruby Rose’s Diet
Rose is a vegan, which means she doesn’t eat any animal protein or any by-products that come from animals. She eats this way in part because she loves animals and also for her health and concern for the environment. Other celebrities who embrace the vegan lifestyle include Ariana Grande, Ellen DeGeneres, Miley Cyrus, Woody Harrelson and Joachim Phoenix. Eating vegan doesn’t mean a no-fun diet. Rose enjoys a daily cup of coffee and chocolate. She says quitting drinking was a real turning point for her health and her career.

Rose hates the idea of dieting, and if she overindulges once in a while, she makes up for it by working out extra-hard.

Rose lifts weights regularly, and not the little pink rubberized kind.
Before making it in tv, Rose was an amateur boxer and won a match after only 3 months of training.
Work Those Abs
Rose’s chiseled abs take work. She concentrates on her core by doing tons of crunches every day, and she isn’t shy about showing it off.
Serious Martial Artist
Rose has studied at the Shaolin Temple LA under the Venerable Abbot Shi Yan Fan, a 34th generation Shaolin warrior monk.
Rose works out at least 5 days a week, and sometimes more. When she was training to be a boxer, she would spend 2-3 hours a day at the gym.
Mix It Up
Rose does a wide variety of exercise. She hikes and bikes, plays soccer, lifts weights and does combat training to keep herself in peak form.
At the Shaolin temple, Rose was able to take a variety of lessons, from kung fu and weapons training to tai chi and philosophy.

Ruby Rose’s Lifestyle
Rose came out as a lesbian when she was 12. But she resists being called a ‘lesbian actor.’ She says she’s simply an actor who happens to be gay.
Rose has openly shared about her mental health struggles. She was sexually and physically abused and bullied as a child, and attempted suicide whens he was 12. She has bipolar disorder and checked herself into rehab in 2013.
Rose works with the animal charity PETA and has posed for their ‘I’d rather go naked than wear fur’ campaign. She also advocates for youth mental health and against bullying.
Rose suffered a serious spinal injury performing a stunt for Batwoman and needed emergency surgery.
Rose’s godfather is the Australian indigenous boxer, Lionel Rose. Her great-grandfather was Alec Campbell, the last surviving Australian soldier of the Battle of Gallipoli.
