If you are a competitive athlete or weekend warrior with joint issues, have arthritis, or suffer some other form of joint pain, this review details a promising formula. Liquid BioCell Life from Modere uses several newer compounds in a unique combination that should provide joint pain relief. That said, what we’ve learned over the years is that most joint products don’t perform well for everyone. We are each biologically unique and respond differently to different ingredients.
Modere Life combines Collagen II, Hyaluronic Acid, and Chondroitin Sulfate in a patented ingredient they refer to as Collagen/HA Matrix Technology. The product is manufactured in a wind-powered facility in Springville, Utah, by Modere, Inc. We were favorably impressed by the Modere website and their philosophies. We did our typical, in-depth research into the company behind the product to provide you additional details to consider before purchasing BioCell products.
From “Images and Attitudes” to Neways to Modere
The company was co-founded in 1987 by Thomas and Leslie D. Mower in Salem, Utah, as “Images and Attitudes.” In 1992 the company was renamed Neways, and its headquarters were relocated to Springville, Utah. In 2006, the company was acquired by a San Francisco based private equity firm that also owned Herbalife before taking the company public. So, what do Herbalife and Modere have in common? They both employ an MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) go-to-market strategy. Modere is not a Ponzi or pyramid scheme as they do manufacture and market products, including nutritional supplements, skincare items, personal care products, and household products. As might be expected of an MLM company, how they sell their products to consumers deviates from the norm, as evidenced by our Pricing segment below.
The company’s philosophies, other than their go-to-market strategy, are admirable, from their wind-powered manufacturing facility to third-party testing, adhering to GMP best-practices (although they are not cGMP certified), sustainability, reducing their carbon footprint, NSF certified products, and their clean labels. Their clean label guarantee assures that there are no BPAs, no animal testing, that packaging is recyclable, and formulas are biodegradable.
Modere has produced a wide variety of supplements, including Modere Go, Modere Trim, Modere Axis TreBiotic, and (of course) Modere Life. In this review, we’ll detail the Modere Life product formulation and its key ingredients. We’ll discuss the product’s benefits and determine if the brand is meeting its marketing claims. We’ll inform you where you can find the product, review the cost-value relationship, and as always provide you our rating in terms of effectiveness and value.
What is Modere Life
Modere Life is described as a super nutraceutical containing Liquid BioCell, thirteen additional superfoods, and resveratrol. The basis is their patented Collagen/HA Matrix Technology, combining Collagen II, Hyaluronic Acid, and Chondroitin Sulfate. Of this key component, the company states, “clinically shown to promote healthy aging, active joints, and younger-looking skin.”
We took the time to review the clinical trials by the company, and although the results appear conclusive, the panels were relatively small. An independent third party did not conduct the tests.
Modere Life Ingredients
BioCell uses the dreaded proprietary blend, detailed on their Supplement Facts panel. As such, there is no way to determine the precise amount of each component. What we know, the first ingredient is Apple Fruit Juice Concentrate, followed by Grape Fruit Juice Concentrate, and then the Liquid BioCell blend. We’re a little concerned that the primary component is the third listed ingredient. Further, within the BioCell blend, Collagen is listed first, followed by Chondroitin, and then Hyaluronic Acid.
The panel then lists another eleven fruit concentrates before the final ingredient, Resveratrol. The blend is replete with superfoods that provide a high level of Vitamin C, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatories.
Dosages for Modere Life
The company’s recommended dosage is one tablespoon, approximately 15 ml daily. Each bottle contains thirty servings. Important Note: In another section of the site, the company recommends taking one serving twice per day, effectively rendering each bottle to a fifteen-day supply.
Modere Life Benefits
The specific benefits of Modere Liquid BioCell Life are similar to, although perhaps a bit more robust, than other popular joint support supplements on the market. The site addresses benefits such as improved joint mobility, reduced discomfort, and healthy cartilage and connective tissue. BioCell deviates from the norm by also citing benefits related to:
- Decreased dryness of the skin
- Improved skin hydration, firmness, and elasticity
- Increased skin collagen content
- Reduced hyaluronidase, the enzyme that can make your skin age
- Cardiovascular health
- Promotes healthy hair, nails, gums, and eyes
The company further claims that all their products formulated with Collagen/HA Matrix Technology counteract skin photoaging, support joint and muscle fitness, connective tissue health, restore youthful skin, and support healthy hair, nails, gums, and eyes.
Note: Collagen is used extensively in supplements to support healthy hair, skin, and nails; however, this is typically type I collagen.
How Does Modere Life Perform – Claims vs. Reality
We are confident that Modere Life delivers on its claims to a broad spectrum of people with joint issues. And we are just as confident that the product will fail to meet other joint sufferer’s expectations. Remember our earlier statement about the biological uniqueness of individuals. Being unable to determine the exact concentration of the critical components, Collagen, HA, and Chondroitin, causes some additional concern.
We are less optimistic regarding the other heart, skin, hair, and nails benefits cited, due to the type of collagen in the patented blend. The inclusion of additional superfoods may facilitate some of these benefits.
Is Modere Life Safe?
There are no reported adverse side effects connected with the use of Modere Life. The company recommends those that are pregnant or nursing, or have a history of heart disease not use the product.
As with any supplement, we recommend you check with your medical professional to determine if any of the ingredients in Modere Life are known to have interactions with the prescription medications you are taking.
Where to Buy Modere Life
Although the product is available on Amazon.com, the best place to purchase Modere Life is on the company website due to their promotional offerings. Due to its go-to-market strategy, the product is not available on other websites or in traditional brick and mortar stores such as specialty retailers GNC or Vitamin Shoppe.
Modere Life Pricing
Pricing for a single bottle purchase of Modere Life on the company website is $69.99. Remember, if you’re following suggestions on the Modere site, you should take two servings per day. Doing so equates to $69.99 for a fifteen-day supply. Ouch!
There are also special offers on the site referred to as SmartShip packages. Prices are discounted by 10%, 20%, or 30% determined by the length of time you commit to the SmartShip program.
The BioCell ingredient is available from multiple brands such as Now, NeoCell, and Vitacost at considerably lower prices. As an example, the Now product costs $20.32 on Amazon.com.
Conclusion: Modere Life Review
As previously mentioned, we admire many of the company’s philosophies, but take issue with their MLM structure. It was challenging to learn the details of their program beyond the fact you can resell the products.
The cost of Modere Life seems exorbitant, and we suggest if you are having joint issues, you consider another natural supplement for greater value. As to efficacy, we suggest you look for a product that includes some combination of Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM.
