Hi-Lyte Benefits

Replaces Electrolytes Lost From Sweating

Electrolytes are lost from sweating during exercise. This loss in electrolytes can result in muscle cramping and soreness and can cause fatigue, confusion, dizziness, and nausea. It’s important to rehydrate after a workout, but it’s also equally as important to replenish those electrolytes that are lost. Hi-Lyte contains magnesium, potassium, sodium, chloride, zinc, and sulfate from sea minerals to help compensate for those electrolytes that are lost.

Boosts Energy

Magnesium is an essential electrolyte/ mineral required for our overall health, especially when it comes to boosting energy levels. Magnesium creates energy by activating adenosine triphosphate (ATP), an essential unit of energy in the body. With insufficient magnesium levels, our bodies are not able to metabolize our food and nutrients into energy.

Assists In Proper Muscle Contraction

Minerals like calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium all play a role in muscle health and contractions. Potassium supports cardiac health and muscle strength, magnesium prevents muscle cramps, and calcium and sodium both assist in nerve function and proper muscle contractions. When our electrolyte levels fall as a result of sweating, we often experience muscle fatigue, soreness, and cramping.

Hi-Lyte Ingredients

Hi-Lyte contains a blend of electrolytes, including potassium, magnesium, sodium, chloride, calcium, and sulfate from sea minerals. Potassium helps regulate fluids in the body and promotes a healthy balance. It plays a specific role in nerve signaling and muscle contractions. Potassium helps to generate nerve impulses in our bodies, and as a result, this essential mineral plays a role in muscular contraction. This muscular contraction also involves cardiac muscle functioning, as well.

Magnesium is also an essential electrolyte as it boosts energy levels. It helps our bodies generate ATP in our bodies and in our cells, which translates to enhanced energy levels. Magnesium also helps prevent muscle cramping as it plays a role in neuromuscular transmission and muscle contraction. Another two electrolytes included in the formula are calcium and sodium. They both assist in muscular contraction and nerve function. Both sodium and calcium regulate neurotransmission to muscle fibers, which results in proper muscle contractions in the body.

Chloride is also included as it supports osmotic pressure. Chloride helps us keep the number of fluids inside and outside of our cells in a proper balance. This helps us maintain proper blood volume, blood pressure, and pH levels. Finally, zinc and sulfate are included in Hi-Lyte. Zinc is very beneficial for our bodies in terms of maintaining a healthy fluid balance. Zinc is also very beneficial for our immune system and skin health. Sulfate is also very beneficial as it aids our bodies in detoxification and actually makes up the extracellular matrix of proteins. Sulfate can also prevent our blood from coagulating. The electrolytes in Hi-Lyte are derived from sea minerals.

Is Hi-Lyte Really Healthy?

Hi-Lyte is a very healthy electrolyte supplement. When compared to other traditional electrolyte supplements on the market, this product is much healthier as it is vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, and contains no carbs, calories, sugar, or artificial ingredients. This is largely beneficial as many standard electrolyte supplements come as beverages that are packed with sugar, like Gatorade and Pedialyte.

Hi-Lyte also contains 3 times the amount of electrolytes of traditional sports drinks and 4 times the absorption of electrolyte capsules and powders. This hydrating concentrate comes in a liquid form that can easily be added to water, smoothies, or enjoyed on its own.

Who Should Use Hi-Lyte?

Hi-Lyte is a simple electrolyte supplement that can be used by anyone, but is definitely marketed towards athletes and individuals who sweat a lot. This supplement is great for post-workout recovery, especially in terms of preventing dehydration, fatigue, and muscle cramping. However, electrolytes are very important for our bodies, and even supplements can throw off a very specific balance. This can do more harm than good, leading to confusion, dizziness, nausea, light-headedness, and muscle cramping.

Is Hi-Lyte Safe?

As stated, Hi-Lyte can be very beneficial, but as with any electrolyte supplement, there’s always cause for concern. Electrolyte supplements have the potential to throw off your electrolyte balance in your body in a negative way. This can leave you with certain issues, including the following:

  • Nausea
  • Confusion
  • Light-headedness
  • Muscle fatigue and cramping
  • Dizziness
  • Dehydration
  • Neurological issues/ deficits

To find out if an electrolyte supplement is right for you, you can consult with your doctor first. You can even have a blood panel done to see if your electrolytes even need re-balancing.

Hi-Lyte Alternatives

Instead of Hy-Lyte as an electrolyte supplement, there are some other great products on the market to consider. Ultima is another great electrolyte supplement brand that creates electrolyte powders with no added sugars and no calories. It is vegan and sweetened with only stevia. This is one of the most highly rated and accessible electrolyte supplements on the market.

Another great electrolyte product to consider is Dr. Berg’s Electrolyte Powder. This is probably the most highly rated and reviewed electrolyte powder on the market. One serving gives you a complete mineral and trace mineral drink without any sugar or maltodextrin either. It is a little more pricey at around $37.00, but it’s one of the best and healthiest electrolyte options on the market.
