The quest for optimal health doesn’t necessarily need to involve supplements with fancy formulas or exotic ingredients. Sometimes, a return to optimal health simply involves restoring the body with key nutrients and overcoming deficiencies. After all, vitamins, minerals, and other micronutrients have a profound influence on our health.

So, let’s talk about one all-around health supplement called MagMD Plus. This 1MD supplement is designed to provide magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D3 to better your body’s overall health. In this MagMD Plus review, we’ll take a thorough look at this supplement, its ingredients, its claims, benefits, pricing, and more so you can find out if it’s worth using.

So, without anything further, let’s dive into this MagMD Plus review!

About MagMD Plus

Created by the popular supplement company, 1MD, MagMD Plus is a key combination of the minerals magnesium and zinc, along with vitamin D3. These micronutrients have benefits on their own, but they supposedly exert synergistic effects on many areas of the body when taken together, since they each are necessary for the optimal functioning of the others. Supplementing with this trio is designed to restore optimal levels of these micronutrients in your body and, in turn, give you better health.

All in all, MagMD Plus is designed to support optimal cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and nervous system health, among other things.

MagMD Plus Benefits

Specifically, consistent use of MagMD Plus is advertised to: increase heart health and immune health, improve brain and nervous system health (including cognitive function), strengthen bones, and improve muscular strength.

All of these benefits are designed to occur on a timeline, which we have detailed below:

  • After one month, increased magnesium may lead to enhanced cardiovascular health
  • At month two, increases in magnesium and zinc are supposed to improve the nervous system functioning, which leads to better cognitive function and mood
  • And at month three and beyond, the real effects of vitamin D3 are supposed to occur, especially due to assistance from the minerals, leading to increased bone and muscle strength

So, if you can take MagMD Plus consistently, it supposedly leads to many different benefits. But how likely are these benefits to occur? Continue reading to find out.

MagMD Plus Ingredients

With many supplements, there tend to be quite a few more ingredients than the main ones initially advertised. But with MagMD Plus, the highlighted ingredients are the only ones in the product, so the list is short and sweet. Below are the ingredients in MagMD Plus:

  • Vitamin D3 (25mcg/1000 IU)
  • Magnesium (225mg)
  • Zinc (7.5mg)

Vitamin D3

The term “vitamin D3” is actually misleading since vitamin D3 is really a prohormone, meaning it acts as a precursor for a hormone (calcitriol/1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D). Its dominant function is in bone mineralization, and it has key roles in elevating plasma calcium and phosphate levels. It also is important for neuromuscular health, nerve transmission, and hormonal secretion. Lastly, it is very important for proper immune function.

A deficiency in vitamin D could ultimately lead to poor bone and muscle health, low immunity, and even decreased mood. And many people may be deficient without knowing, which is why supplementing with vitamin D can help. To achieve healthy blood levels of vitamin D, supplementing with at least 1,000 IU is needed for most people.

Magnesium

Up next is magnesium, a mineral with mammoth importance in the body. Magnesium is involved in over 600 enzymatic reactions in the body and plays important roles in various areas, especially the brain, heart, and skeletal muscles. Basically, every organ in the body needs magnesium for optimal function and energy production.

Deficiencies in magnesium are related to many health problems, including migraines, depression, epilepsy, stroke, coronary artery disease, hypertension, muscle cramps, osteoporosis, and much more.

Most people need at least 300mg per day from food and/or supplements. And various conditions can increase the need for magnesium to much higher levels (up to over 1,000mg per day).

Zinc

The third ingredient in MagMD Plus is Zinc, which also has a number of roles in the body. This trace mineral plays important roles in immunity, hormonal health, bone formation, tissue growth, brain health, and more.

Most people need around 10mg per day, but some populations need over 25mg daily (e.g., high-intensity athletes). And supplementing zinc with dosages higher than the RDA can be beneficial for various conditions (e.g., low immunity).

Important Relationships Between These Three

So, you know a little bit about what each of these is important for. But how do they affect each other? Well, there are a few things.

Magnesium plays an essential role in the metabolism of vitamin D, and it also determines, to some extent, the amount of vitamin D the body can make. So, a deficiency in magnesium could definitely hurt vitamin D levels.

At the same time, increasing vitamin D intake to healthy levels can improve magnesium absorption and the overall function of this mineral.

Also, magnesium and zinc have various roles with each other. For example, having enough magnesium is necessary for optimal bioavailability of zinc; and taking in too much zinc can cause excessive magnesium depletion. So, basically, each mineral is needed in the right amounts for the other to work best. Additionally, research shows that magnesium and zinc supplementation work together to improve mood and may reduce depression.

Lastly, calcium is essential for bone health. And these positive effects are highly dependent on the presence of adequate vitamin D, magnesium, and zinc, which again shows their importance and interrelationship.

Does MagMD Plus Work?

After analyzing the ingredients, we’re confident that MagMD Plus will work effectively. The rationale behind taking vitamin D3 with magnesium and zinc is very sound and supported by research. There are many interactions among these three micronutrients, and healthy levels of each are needed for optimal health.

Additionally, the dosages of each ingredient are pretty solid and in line with research. The forms of each of the ingredients are important, as well. For example, both magnesium and zinc in this product come in chelated forms, which enhance their bioavailability. This is crucial since many supplements contain subpar forms of ingredients that ultimately don’t get very well absorbed. But this isn’t the case for MagMD Plus.

Claims vs. Reality

MagMD Plus is designed to improve cardiovascular health, musculoskeletal health, immune function, and brain/nervous system health. And these things should all occur based on the ingredients in here.

Magnesium, among its many functions, should definitely improve overall heart health.

Also, you’ll likely get a boost in musculoskeletal health primarily from magnesium and vitamin D3, but also zinc to some degree as well.

Zinc and vitamin D3 should lead to improved immune system function.

And magnesium and zinc together should offer benefits for the brain and central nervous system, improving mood and cognition, and reducing stress, among other things.

Overall, MagMD Plus is beneficial simply because it contains key ingredients that many people are deficient in or otherwise have suboptimal levels of. And taking one ingredient by itself can sometimes do more harm than good, especially if taken in excess, but MagMD Plus mitigates these potential problems by understanding the intricate roles among vitamin D3, magnesium, and zinc.

Who is MagMD Plus Best For?

With the variety of health benefits you get from MagMD Plus, it’s hard to say if there’s a specific population that would benefit. Basically, anyone who is deficient in the ingredients in MagMD Plus should consider buying this supplement. And in the modern world, most people are deficient in these nutrients, especially magnesium and vitamin D.

Is MagMD Plus Safe?

MagMD Plus has no known side effects, although here are some possible things that can happen, based on the ingredients in there:

  • Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Headaches

Since all of the ingredients are pretty conservative amounts, the possibility for any harsh side effects is very low.
