Singer
Born: 1982
Kelly Clarkson was first discovered by her middle school choir teacher who overheard her singing in the hallway. In high school, she performed in many musicals including Annie Get Your Gun. It hit the charts at #60, and just 2 weeks later made it to #1 (and eventually became the best-selling single of 2002 in the US). Clarkson has had more than 2 dozen songs in Billboard’sHot 100 chart. She has won multiple awards, including Grammys, American Music Awards and Country Music Awards and is considered to be one of the world’s best pop singers. Kelly Clarkson’s Diet
Diet Summary
Clarkson recently lost nearly 40 lbs. which she credits to following Steven Gundry’s Plant Paradox diet, a type of low-carb diet with an emphasis on vegetables, although certain veggies such as tomatoes and squash are to be avoided. Fruit consumption is limited, and grains are not eaten because they contain a kind of protein known as lectin that Gundry says has a negative impact on the digestive tract and lead to inflammation, disease and weight gain. Clarkson was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder back in 2006 and says the diet cured her problem and she no longer needs medication. It is important to note that scientific evidence for Gundry’s claims is lacking, but Clarkson is happy with the results. Animal proteins on the Paradox diet should be from ‘clean’ sources such as pasture-raised beef or wild-caught fish. Healthy fats come in the form of olive oil, avocados, and butter from grass-fed cows, and carbs come from vegetables like sweet potatoes.

Weekly Workout Routine
All She Ever Wanted…Was to Not Sweat It Up
Clarkson says she’s not a huge fan of exercise, but she will make herself work out to improve her energy and generally to be healthy.
Shake It Out (and Up)
Clarkson gets bored easily, so her trainer mixes up her routine every day, but it often involves some kind of boxing which offers a great whole-body strength and cardio conditioning routine.
Put In the Time
Despite her busy schedule and aversion to sweating, Clarkson works out for 1-2 hours at a clip, and often includes a run or hike outdoors.
Workout Style
A Kelly Clarkson Weight Loss Routine
You will need a mat, boxing bag, gloves, and medicine ball.
Do each exercise to your limit, performing as many reps as you can with little or no rest between sets. Always use good form. When you start to lose your form, you’ve done enough.
Ball Push-up Hand to Hand: From plank position, put a medicine ball under one hand (other hand is on floor). Lower into a push-up but do not tilt shoulders. Press back into starting position. Switch hands. Repeat. Do as many as you can, a minimum of 25.
Mountain Climbers: From plank position, ‘run’ keeping your hands on the floor, pulling the toe of your foot as far forward as you can. Stabilize through your core. Do as many as you can, minimum of 50.
Crazy 8 Lunges: Stand with feet should-width apart. Hold medicine ball in front of you, elbows bent at 90 degrees. Step forward into lunge posi-tion, twisting upper body to the same side, then with arms extended straight draw an 8 in the air with your arms. Return to start position. Re-peat on opposite side. Do a minimum of 25/side.
Jump Squats: Stand straight, knees slightly bent. Lower into squat, keep-ing back straight and head up. Jump up, reaching as high as you can. Return to starting position and repeat. Do a minimum of 25.
Boxing Cardio Burst: Put on gloves and punch a bag (or if you don’t have one, just punch the air), going as fast as you can for 3 min.
Jumping Jack Squats: Start in jumping jack position, arms raised, legs together. Jump to squat position, lowering arms to sides, keeping weight in heels and navel pulled in. Do a minimum of 25 reps.
Russian Twists: In sit-up position, hold a medicine ball in both hands. Raise feet off floor, twist torso side to side, touching the ball to the floor on each side. Repeat to failure.
Boxing Cardio Burst: Box for 3 min. Rest, then start at the top, doing a total of 3-5 sets.
Clarkson On Exercise
‘This just in: I still hate working out. I’m sweaty, red, and not any thinner. People say it’s good for your heart…but people also say red wine is good for your heart…Who am I to ignore science?!’
Clarkson On The Ups And Downs Of Her Exercise Routine
‘I yo-yo. So sometimes I’m more fit and I get into kickboxing hardcore. And then sometimes I don’t and I’m like…I’d rather have wine.’
Clarkson On Health
‘What I try to instill in my fans is to be healthy and happy. I have no desire to be super-skinny.’
