In addition to Amplify, Cutler Nutrition has produced a variety of other supplements, including Total Iso Protein Powder and PROBIO-50. They also have a pre-workout that includes stimulants called Prevail, but Amplify is the one designed to maximize workout performance solely through other ingredients.

The primary ingredient designed to increase blood flow and muscular pumps is citrulline, although they also have other ingredients to increase muscle cell hydration, such as coconut water powder and electrolytes. Essentially, more blood and water to the muscles is supposed to enhance muscular capacity and overall strength. 

Reduced Fatigue

Key electrolytes are also designed to reduce cramping and other aspects of workout fatigue, helping you to stay at your best, for longer. The inclusion of taurine is also advertised to decrease mental and physical fatigue.

Overall, Cutler Nutrition Amplify is designed to give you a better workout, including increased strength, power, and endurance. These are due not only to citrulline but also to key players such as creatine HCl, electrolytes, and taurine. And with a better workout, you are supposed to get better results; mainly increased strength and muscle mass.

So, overall, Cutler Nutrition Amplify is designed to help you look, feel, and perform better during your workouts and lead to better results, things that all high-performing individuals want. And all without the use of stimulants. 

But is this actually an effective non-stimulant pre-workout? Let’s find out!

You’ve seen some of the ingredients, but here is the full rundown of what’s in each serving of Amplify Pre-Workout (1 scoop):

Electrolytes: Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium

Cutler Nutrition Amplify Pre-Workout contains three key electrolytes in magnesium, sodium, and potassium. The sodium comes from pink Himalayan sea salt, which also contains trace amounts of other minerals. All three of these major electrolytes are important for workout performance because they are involved in muscular contractions, cellular hydration, nerve impulses, energy production, and more. 

Without these electrolytes, one runs the risk of headaches, cramping, muscle twitching, and fatigue. And since intense workouts use up a lot, supplementing with electrolytes can sometimes be beneficial, although it’s not always necessary. 


Up next is the oft-included l-citrulline. This amino acid is able to increase blood levels of arginine and nitric oxide, which leads to increased blood flow to the muscles. Not only does this resultant increase in blood flow increase muscular pumps, but it can also enhance various aspects of workout performance, such as strength and power, and may help to increase muscular endurance and reduce fatigue. Also, increased blood flow may provide a better environment after the workout to deliver nutrients for optimal recovery. 

Overall, while the effects are somewhat small, research shows that around 3 to 5 grams (sometimes even more) can improve exercise performance.


Up next is taurine, which is a popular amino acid. It is highly prevalent in skeletal muscle, and it’s necessary for proper muscular contractions and overall force. It plays further roles as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, as well as overall energy metabolism. You’ll find this ingredient in many other pre-workout options too, like Cardio Cuts 4.0; and this is because research shows that around 1 to 3 grams of taurine taken before exercise (while also taking it on a consistent basis) can improve strength, power, endurance, and other aspects of exercise performance. 

Creatine HCl

Another very well-known ingredient included in Cutler Nutrition Amplify Pre-Workout is creatine. While the most common form is creatine monohydrate, this product uses creatine HCl. 

Creatine is highly prevalent in skeletal muscle, so supplementation serves as a way to increase muscular concentrations of creatine, which can then be used during high-intensity exercise performance. Creatine is one of the most well-researched ingredients, and research shows it can improve many aspects of exercise performance and facilitate training adaptations. Its most effective for high-intensity exercises, such as heavy weightlifting, jumping, and sprinting. And it is typically effective for increasing muscle mass and strength.

Now, creatine HCl is thought to be more bioavailable than creatine monohydrate, and while some research shows this is true, it isn’t necessarily more effective. But it’s still a good form of creatine, and the dose should be around 0.75 to 2 grams daily. 

Coconut Water Powder

The next ingredient is coconut water powder. Coconut water is rich in various vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and electrolytes. It’s often seen as a hyper-hydrating aid since it contains key electrolytes (e.g., magnesium, sodium, potassium), and the antioxidants in it may help to reduce muscle damage. However, more research is needed specifically on coconut water powder, especially as it relates to weightlifting. 

Grape Seed Extract

The final ingredient in Amplify Pre-Workout is grape seed extract. Grape seed extract is high in flavonols and antioxidants, among other health-boosting compounds. Some research shows that it can increase nitric oxide, thereby improving blood flow and oxygenation to the muscles during exercise. And the antioxidant potential may help with decreasing inflammation and muscle soreness. While there aren’t many studies, most use around 300mg/day for effective results. 

Does Amplify Pre-Workout Work?

All in all, Amplify Pre-Workout is most likely an effective non-stimulant pre-workout. It includes well-researched ingredients that are known for enhancing blood flow and increasing muscle cell hydration, such as citrulline, grape seed extract, and electrolytes, which should lead to improved pumps and muscular performance. Plus, there are other well-researched ingredients, such as creatine HCl and taurine, that benefit strength, power, and a number of other aspects of workout performance. And beyond pre-workout benefits, citrulline and grape seed extract may improve recovery too.

As for the dosages, some are on the lower end, but almost all ingredients are in the effective range and thus should provide benefits. Another thing to consider is that the serving size can be either 1 or 2 scoops, depending on goals, preferences, etc. And if you take two scoops, the dosages for most of the ingredients shoots up to ideal levels (even more in some cases) as compared to just pretty good or decent dosages with just one scoop. But it depends on how much you’re willing to spend too (more on that later). 

Overall, Amplify Pre-Workout will likely provide a number of workout performance benefits, but the degree to which these occur depends on individual variability as well as how big of a serving you take. 

Claims vs. Reality

Cutler Nutrition seemed to use a little bit of hyperbolic language when describing the effects of Amplify, especially in regard to the pump sensation. While this product will increase blood flow and hydration to the muscles, leading to a fuller sensation and look, I wouldn’t expect it to be “skin-tearing” muscle pumps, as they say, or anything extreme. 

Cutler Nutrition Amplify Pre-Workout is also designed to reduce fatigue and give you a better overall workout, such as increased strength, power, and endurance. However, I would expect mild to moderate increases in these areas as opposed to anything spectacular simply because that’s what the research shows. Yes, the ingredients are effective, but only to a mild degree. No supplement’s going to suddenly two-fold your strength or exercise capacity. Well, maybe good ol’ vitamin S, but that’s not what we’re here for. 

Who is Amplify Pre-Workout Best For?

It’s clear that Cutler Nutrition Amplify is for bodybuilders, weightlifters, and other fitness athletes who want to get a better workout but without all of the stimulants. Additionally, it can be used in addition to other pre-workouts for those who want to also have stimulants, but at a more carefully monitored dosage. For example, Cutler Nutrition Amplify can be paired with Cutler Nutrition Prevail for those that want the full effects of pumps, focus, energy, endurance, and overall performance. But by itself, Cutler Nutrition Amplify is also a very solid pre-workout and should help stim-free lifters get in a better workout.

Amplify Pre-Workout has fewer potential side effects than heavy stimulant-based pre-workouts, but there are still some possible side effects to look at. The main ones include:

  • Nausea, indigestion, and diarrhea
  • Changes in blood pressure
  • Muscle cramps
  • Headache
  • Dizziness

Again, the ingredients in here are overall, very safe, and these side effects are pretty uncommon.
