Phase 8 Protein Review

Are you on the search for the perfect protein powder? If you are, there are a few things you should know before buying. First, decide if you are looking for a whey-based protein or a plant-based protein powder. After you come to your conclusion, then you must figure out a price range that you’re willing to spend for your purchase.

These two factors can be helpful in starting your search for a protein that works for you, but even then, there are tons of options out there. So, let’s take a closer look at a popular protein powder option designed to help increase your workouts, Phase 8 Protein by MuscleTech. You may be familiar with other MuscleTech supplements, such as 100% Mass Gainer, Clear Muscle, MuscleTech EuphoriQ, and Clear Muscle Next Gen, but does their protein powder really stack up? We’ll find out in this review of Phase 8 Protein!

About Phase 8 Protein

Phase 8 Protein is a product of Muscle Tech, a supplement company that is dedicated to helping improve fitness by improving our physical performance through its products.

Phase 8 Protein is a protein supplement that is aimed at helping you in building bigger muscles and aid you in your post-workout recovery.

Phase 8 Protein Milk Chocolate

Key Benefits

  • 8 hours of amino acid delivery
  • Increased muscle strength and size
  • Provides sustained-release protein and high biological value
  • It contains 26g of protein

To further understand how it works, let us take a look at Phase 8 Protein’s ingredients and see what’s really inside it.

Phase 8 Protein Ingredients

The main component of Phase 8 Protein’s ingredient is their protein blend, which contains the following:

  • Whey Protein Concentrate
  • Milk Protein Isolate
  • Micellar Casein
  • Calcium Caseinate
  • 97% Whey Protein Isolate
  • Hydrolyzed Whey Protein Isolate

My only concern here is that I wish they provided the percentage of each concentrate or isolate instead of just stacking them all as a list of their protein blend. Because we don’t get to know how much is concentrated or isolated, we won’t be able to get to see how effective (or not) the supplement would be.

I am also concerned about the presence of ingredients such as acesulfame-potassium and sucralose. In general, artificial sweeteners are controversial because of the health risks they could pose. For instance, artificial sweeteners such as acesulfame-potassium and sucralose could interfere with weight regulation, appetite regulation, and blood sugar control. Some sources even link them with cancer.

But, on the other end of the spectrum, this can be disputed. For instance, the Food Drug and Administration (FDA) confirms that acesulfame-potassium is safe based on over 90 studies. However, some experts and researchers remain critical of their use because of potential health risks.

I’m not trying to be an “all-natural” advocate and that every product that uses artificial ingredients should not be used or, at least, be taken with high caution. After all, let’s be honest – we are mostly taking these artificial ingredients at other foods and drinks we eat and drink, too! However, it’s still good to consume as few chemical and artificial ingredients as possible, especially if you are committing to a supplement, food, or drink for a long term in your fitness lifestyle.

Allergens To Watch Out For

Now, let’s go to allergens – Phase 8 Protein contains milk and soy, and the supplement is processed in a facility that contains eggs, tree nuts, wheat, fish, and shellfish.

If you are allergic, sensitive, or you simply avoid one of these, you may want to take note of these.

Finally, let us look at its nutritional content: Phase 8 Protein contains 26g of protein (which is good) and 8g of carbs. It also contains 472mg of calcium, 0.94mg of iron, and 210mg of sodium, so you’re getting good amounts of minerals as well. However, be careful with sodium – while sodium is in itself not bad (it is an electrolyte for your body), too much sodium will hurt your health.

What About Phase 8 Protein’s Sustained-Release Protein?

Phase 8 Protein boasts its feature called “sustained-release protein,” where the supplement uses this sustain-release feature to deliver amino acids on an interval basis for 8 hours after taking it. This is supposed to stimulate a muscle-building environment inside your body, so you can maximize your gains. One thing I want to note, though: the supplement contains Digestive Enzyme Matrix, which can boost the digestion of the supplement, so I don’t know how it will last for 8 hours.

To clear things up, I’m not saying that the supplement won’t be effective; I’m just simply not sure about this sustain-release thing. So, let’s move forward!

Phase 8 Protein Benefits

There are a variety of benefits that come with adding more protein to your diet. We are going to discuss the most frequent benefits that are seen with adding protein, and Phase 8 Protein in particular.

Phase 8 Protein Powder

1) Tastes Great

Phase 8 Protein is available in the following flavors:

  • Milk Chocolate
  • Cookies & Cream
  • Vanilla
  • Strawberry

I like these “milkshake flavors” because it makes the supplement more fun to drink, but that’s just personal preference.

However, take note that some report that the supplement tastes like medicine or any aftertaste. But I think it depends on how each person gets to taste the supplement.

2) Contains 26g Of Protein

Phase 8 Protein contains 26g of protein, which is pretty solid and can make the supplement effective for building muscle strength and mass. You’ll find that this amount of protein falls into the higher-range in comparison with other protein supplements. For example, Clean Green Protein contains 20g, and High Impact Whey Protein contains only 15g.

Of course, we cannot measure the effectiveness of a protein supplement based on its ingredient alone – work ethic and other factors come into play when it comes to building muscles. However, 26g is decently enough to help you add new size and strength to your muscles.

Is Phase 8 Protein Safe?

Generally, protein supplements can cause side effects such as nausea, gas, bloating, and diarrhea if you took too much of the recommended dosage. Otherwise, protein supplements are generally considered safe to use.

Other than the side effects, I had already talked about some of my concerns about the Phase 8 Protein.

First of all, the supplement does not show us the amounts of each ingredient in its protein blend. Since this is the case, we will not get to know how exactly the supplement will work and how effective it will be.

Second, I also talked about my concerns regarding artificial ingredients. While I’m not being legalistic about avoiding as many chemicals and other artificial ingredients as possible – although that’s the ideal goal – it is still good to be mindful about the ingredients we put into our body, especially artificial ingredients. It’s not only because you took those ingredients, but because you are likely to commit to taking the product that contains those ingredients.

For example, since you are living a healthy lifestyle (or you’re about to), you aren’t likely to eat processed foods and other junk foods as much as you possibly once did. However, products such as supplements will most likely be part of your healthy lifestyle – and you won’t want to carry those artificial ingredients and other chemicals with you!

Finally, as already mentioned above, Phase 8 Protein contains the following allergens: milk and soy. It is also processed in a facility that contains eggs, tree nuts, wheat, fish, and shellfish.
