What is the Hidrate Spark Smart Bottle?

Hidrate Spark Water Bottle

The Hidrate Smart Bottle is at its core, a pretty simple device. The Hidrate Spark is a 20 fl. oz. water bottle that connects to a companion smartphone app to monitor and track your daily hydration level. Sensor technology embedded into the base of the bottle measures and records how often you fill the bottle, how often you drink, and how much you drink per session. This information is relayed to the companion smartphone app where you can browse data and keep tabs on your daily hydration progress.

The app also has a neat social function. You can connect your water profile with friends so you can get updates on each other’s hydration levels to keep you motivated and map your progress. It connects via Bluetooth to your smartphone. You can set the app to your own physical parameters, including your height, age, activity, sex, location, and the outdoor weather to optimize your hydration schedule. There is even a special setting for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. The exact equations used to determine your hydration levels have been clinically verified to be accurate. According to studies, Hidrate Spark is accurate to within 3% of liquid consumption.

The Hidrate Spark is currently undergoing a clinical trial to determine whether its regimented hydration reminders are an effective method of increasing water consumption and reducing the incidence of conditions brought about by dehydration, such as kidney stones. In the meantime, the Hidrate Spark has been recognized by several medical organizations for its innovations, including the world-famous Mayo Cini, Cleveland Clinic, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Lastly, the battery of the Hidrate Spark is long-lasting and can be replaced. A lot of smart devices don’t give you the option of replacing batteries so you have to replace the entire thing if the battery wears out on you. The outside of the bottle is coated in a tough silicone sleeve that improves grip and minimizes condensation. It also comes with a convenient finger loop and it will fit a standard cup holder, including those in your car or on your bicycle.

Who Make the Hidrate Spark Smart Bottle?

Hidrate Company Development

The Hidrat Spark Smart Bottle is made by Hidrate Spark, a company founded in 2014 by Coleman Iverson and Alex Hambrock. The duo was inspired to create Hidrate Spark after a friend of theirs began to experience serious medical complications from dehydration. Coleman and Hambrock wanted to create a new water bottle technology to help people stay hydrated and healthy. The company has won several innovation awards at tech conferences and they have received a lot of recent motivation and investor support.

According to co-founder Hambrock, “Developing healthier habits doesn’t have to be hard. We’ve created a product that fits into your life without being obtrusive…We designed Hidrate Spark to remind you with a glow or alert, to make sure you don’t miss out on the hydration you need.”

How Does the Hidrate Spark Work?

Hidrate App

The Hidrate Spark uses a single CR2477 coin cell battery and a patented sensor stick that tracks the amount of water in the bottle at any given time. When you take a drink, the bottle calculates how much you drank and updates its measurements. These changes get passed to the pap which keeps records and tracks your hydration.

To connect the bottle to the app, turn on Bluetooth connectivity on your phone and add the bottle from the device list. Next, open up the app, and set up a profile. Once you’ve done that, you are all set, the bottle will start tracking hydration levels the next time it is filled.
