Gundry MD Active Advantage Review

The objective of anti-aging protocols is not to live for as long as possible, rather it is to live a healthy, fulfilling life for as long as possible. It is a critical difference that speaks to the quality of life as we age versus simply extending life.

The goal of anti-aging medicine is not just extending your life span but lengthening your healthy, functional lifespan. Such is the promise of Active Advantage, a dietary supplement from Gundry MD.

The graying of America is unprecedented today as the Boomers of the fifties and sixties are living longer. Per the U.S. Census Bureau, by the year 2034, older adults will represent a larger percentage of the population than children – for the first time in U.S. history!

There is an entire industry, approaching $55 billion, and growing rapidly, to address this megatrend. The medical community, personal product companies, and supplement manufacturers have developed products, procedures, and protocols to mitigate the effects of aging.

So let us take a look at the anti-aging supplement, Gundry MD Active Advantage. This product claims to help boost energy, strength, and metabolism as we age. Does it actually work? We will cover that and more in our Gundry MD Active Advantage review.

How Do We Age?

Before we dive into our Active Advantage review, let’s briefly address the aging process so we can get a better understanding of how Active Advantage functions as an anti-aging supplement.

The science of aging is Gerontology. One of the first scientific theories on aging posited that our bodies begin to deteriorate after the age of reproduction due to the ravages of time.

Essential hormones, strength and muscle mass, and VO2 max peak in our mid-twenties and gradually decline. Others believed aging was a mechanical issue, brought on by a lifetime of wear and tear on the body’s parts.

In 1956 a Cal Berkley Ph.D. proposed the “free radical theory of aging,” which states that free radicals are a primary contributor to aging and death. DNA damage from free radicals could cause gene mutations leading to cancer, heart disease, and an inability for cells to function correctly.

Today many scientists believe that aging is a function of accumulated wear and tear from toxins, free-radical damage, chronic inflammation, declining hormone levels, DNA damage, disease, and stress. Some disagree, such as Dan Buettner, author of The Blue Zones, who says that genes represent only twenty-five percent of the aging process and the other 75% is attributable to lifestyle choices.

Today, there is a consensus that free-radical damage, chronic inflammation, and telomere damage are three primary causes of aging, disease, and death.

We apologize for the extended lead-in, but it sets the stage for Doctor Gundry’s Active Advantage.

About Gundry MD Active Advantage

Active Advantage is a complex, doctor-formulated dietary supplement from Gundry MD. It comes in a capsule form with potent antioxidants including CoQ10, astaxanthin, vitamin E tocotrienols, and tocopherols.

Dr. Gundry’s forte is digestive health and the microbiome. He is one of the industry’s leading authorities on the topic after authoring several New York Times bestsellers on diet, nutrition, and gut health.

With Active Advantage, Gundry MD ventures into the anti-aging arena. The product promises to combat free radical damage and boost energy while improving both mental and physical endurance.

GundryMD Active Advantage Supplement

This Active Advantage review explains the relationship between oxidation (free-radical damage) and chronic inflammation and how antioxidants counteract both.

We do a deep dive into the key ingredients, many of which are patented and trademarked compounds. For those of you who may not be as familiar with vitamin E, we explain full-spectrum, tocotrienols, and tocopherols. We will also take a look at the health benefits of taking Active Advantage.

Gundry MD’s Active Advantage Ingredients

Active Advantage delivers its health benefits by supporting natural energy production and reducing free-radical damage in the body.

Each of the ingredients below plays a role in combatting free radicals and chronic inflammation. Oxidative stress and inflammation go hand in hand. Free radicals induce an inflammatory response, and chronic inflammation causes more free radicals.

Gundry MD frequently uses patented and trademarked ingredients in every nutritional supplement, but rarely to the extent seen in Active Advantage. Here each compound in the formula is trademarked.

GundryMD Active Advantage Supplement Facts

Let’s take a closer look at each of the ingredients and how it works. If you’d prefer to skip the “science” behind the supplement, feel free to jump to the next section to learn about its benefits (and whether or not it works).

Vitamin E, 7 mg, and Mixed d-Tocotrienols, 30 mg

EVNol’s vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin from red palm oil, containing the full spectrum of this vitamin.

Vitamin E has an antioxidant effect that can fight free radical damage in the gastrointestinal system and may be beneficial for skin, eyes, and supporting the immune system.

Vitamin E comprises two chemical groups. It has four tocotrienols (alpha, beta, gamma, delta) and four tocopherols (alpha, beta, gamma, delta). Our Western diet and most supplements contain a higher concentration of tocopherols. The difference is in the chemical make-up of the two, with tocopherols having a saturated tail versus tocotrienols being unsaturated.

Astaxanthin, 5 mg

One of the most powerful antioxidants in the world, able to move throughout the body, protecting our cells. Astaxanthin is a carotenoid in certain algae responsible for the pink-red color in salmon.

Although Gundry uses a registered trademark for its Hawaiian Astaxanthin, it does not use the brand name BioAstin, from Nutrex in Active Advantage. BioAstin supports skin, eyes, heart, and joints in clinical trials at a dosage of 12 mg.

Astaxanthin promotes mitochondria production, the powerhouse of a cell for energy. This also converts glucose to ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the principal molecule for storing and transferring energy in cells, resulting in more energy.

Kaneka Q10, 50 mg

CoQ10 is a vitamin-like substance and a potent antioxidant present in every cell in your body. The Kaneka Q10 has been used in clinical trials for more than thirty years and is proven to enhance energy production, increase stamina, and improve overall health.

Since our natural levels of CoQ10 decline with age, supplementing to improve cellular energy production is a sound strategy. CoQ10 also helps with mental stamina and brain health.

Astaxanthin and CoQ10, both powerful antioxidants, also play a role in producing energy. Also, CoQ10 further supports ATP levels.

Fulvic Mineral Powder, MLG-50 from GlycoLife Sciences, 100 mg

Fulvic minerals are substances that come from decomposed organic matter, and they act as antioxidants and electrolytes. These same benefits include protection against oxidation, decreasing systemic inflammation, and aiding the immune system.

The fulvic acid component of MLG-50 contains more than 60 minerals and trace elements responsible for carrying vitamins and other nutrients to the proper places throughout our bodies.

Gundry MD Active Advantage Benefits

As a corporate philosophy, Gundry MD is conservative in their health benefit and structure-function claims for their products.

Active Advantage - Anti-aging Support

Benefits claimed for Gundry MD Active Advantage center on the following:

Anti-Aging Support

Including ingredients like Coq10, vitamin E, and astaxanthin gives Active Advantage the ability to claim it can keep your body feeling healthy and looking healthy. These essential nutrients are great at lowering oxidative stress which can lead to premature aging and inflammation.

In fact, you will notice your skin health and heart health doing better, and you will see less visible free radical damage such as wrinkles

More Energy, Endurance, and Mental Stamina

Active Advantage’s ingredients make this nutritional supplement a good way to increase your energy levels. Active Advantage helps your body’s natural ability to use energy by making it more efficient.

The energy-boosting antioxidants in this supplement have been used in restorative medicine to promote cognitive health and reduce the risk of chronic illnesses.

Better Mobility

If you experience less inflammation, you will also have better mobility thanks to reduced joint and muscle soreness.

Improved Digestive Health

Taking Active Advantage can restore healthy energy levels, but also protects your gut health. Although it is not meant to help weight loss, it can support weight management as part of a healthy diet and physical exercise.

The benefits tend to be a bit vague and subjective lacking hard data to support their effectiveness.

The product’s Supplement Facts panel advises you to take one Active Advantage capsule in the morning with 8 ounces of water (or any beverage of your choice) and suggests you do so before the first meal of your day.
