About Animal Test

Animal Test is a testosterone-boosting supplement created by the bodybuilding supplement brand, Animal. In addition to Animal Test, Animal has produced a large variety of well-known supplements, including Animal Stak, Animal Cuts, Animal Pak, Animal Juiced Aminos, and Animal Flex. Animal Test is designed for bodybuilders, strength and power athletes, and other hardcore trainers aiming to increase testosterone levels, pack on muscle mass, and increase strength.

Animal Test

It is designed to increase testosterone in a number of ways, such as by directly increasing free and total testosterone, inhibiting estrogen, and decreasing catabolic stress hormones (e.g., cortisol). It is also unique in that it contains an ingredient, arachidonic acid, designed specifically to maximize muscular hypertrophy.

Animal Test Benefits

Animal Test is designed to provide hard-training men with a number of benefits, including amplified natural testosterone levels, increased muscular hypertrophy, and increased strength.

Animal Test Benefits - Muscle Size and Strength

Amplified Natural Testosterone Levels

Animal Test is designed to increase testosterone levels naturally by direct and indirect means. Directly, it includes ingredients designed to increase free and total testosterone. Indirectly, it contains various ingredients involved in blocking estrogen and decreasing cortisol and other stress hormones, which would lead to more available testosterone.

Muscle Size and Strength

One different aspect of Animal Test compared to some other testosterone boosters is that it includes ingredients specifically designed to maximize the muscular hypertrophic response. The makers of Animal Test say that you can expect significant increases in muscular hypertrophy, possibly leading to breakthroughs in muscle size plateaus. And with enhanced recovery and better workouts, you can expect an increase in strength too.

Alright fellas, so this might just be the testosterone-boosting product you’ve been waiting for. But before you go buying it, read on below to see if the ingredients are truly effective.

Animal Test Ingredients

There are two main complexes in Animal Test, the Pro-Androgen Complex and the Hypertrophic Response Complex, each of which includes a number of individual ingredients. As a whole, the ingredients in Animal Test look like this:

(Note: Ingredient doses are based on the serving size of 1 pack)

  • Pro-Androgen Complex (2500mg), which includes
    • Urtica Dioica
    • Cissus Quadrangularis
    • Polygonum Cuspidatum
    • Agaricus Bisporus
    • Hesperetin
    • Yohimbe Bark Extract
  • Hypertrophic Response Complex (1500mg), which includes
    • Arachidonic Acid
    • Grapefruit
    • Piper Nigrum Extract

Pro-Androgen Complex

As seen from above, the Pro-Androgen Complex contains Urtica dioica, Cissus quadrangularis, Polygonum cuspidatum, Agaricus bisporus, hesperetin, and Yohimbe bark extract.

Stinging Nettle

Urtica diocia is more commonly known as stinging nettle, so they took an extract from the roots of the nettle plant. The specific extract they took from stinging nettle is 3.4 divanillyl tetrahydrofuran (DVT). DVT is known to inhibit sex-hormone-binding globulin (SHBG). This is important because SHBG can bind up testosterone, where it can’t really be used by the body. So, by inhibiting SHBG, this allows for more free (unbound) testosterone to be available, where it can really exert its effects.

Ketosterones

Next, they took an extract from the leaves of Cissus quadrangularis, also known as veldt grape. Specifically, they extracted ketosterones, which may have anabolic effects. Cissus quadrangularis is known to act as a glucocorticoid antagonist, so it can decrease cortisol and other stress hormones; and it may also help to increase testosterone and androgenic activity.

Aromatase Inhibitors and Estrogen Blockers

Animal test also includes various ingredients known to act as aromatase inhibitors and that decrease estrogen. These ingredients are: trans-resveratrol extract from the plant, Polygonum cuspidatum, or Asian knotweed; extract from Agaricus bisporus, or white button mushroom; and hesperetin, which is a compound found in citrus peels.

All of these ingredients inhibit the aromatase enzyme, which converts testosterone to estrogen, so this should lead to more available testosterone, especially free testosterone. They also are all involved in other effects that inhibit estrogen production. Furthermore, these three compounds are very effective for overall health too, and they offer antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and many other effects.

Yohimbe

Finally, there is Yohimbe bark extract. This is believed to be an aphrodisiac and sexual health booster, although there really isn’t a lot of good evidence supporting these claims. This ingredient is definitely not a main one in this formula.

Hypertrophic Response Complex

The other complex in Animal Test is the Hypertrophic Response Complex, which consists of the primary ingredient, arachidonic acid, along with an extract from grapefruit and Piper nigrum, or black pepper.

Arachidonic Acid

Arachidonic acid (AA) is an omega-6 fatty acid. It is involved in various inflammatory responses, such as when repairing damaged muscles after training. Thus, the logic is that increased AA will promote greater short-term inflammation, which in this case would actually be a good thing because it would lead to greater muscle growth. AA is also proven to increase testosterone in some animal studies. However, most of the research shows that the benefits of AA on muscle growth and testosterone are marginal at best. There really needs to be more evidence.

Absorption Ingredients

Besides AA, this complex contains two ingredients whose primary roles are for enhanced absorption. These ingredients are 6,7 dihydroxybergamottin (DHB), which is found in grapefruit, and the specific form of black pepper extract known as Bioperine.

DHB is known to inhibit the activity of a specific cytochrome P450 enzyme that decreases the absorption of foreign molecules, such as those that come from supplements. So, by inhibiting this enzyme, this should lead to the opposite effect, which means an INCREASE in absorption of supplements. So, DHB likely increases the absorption of the ingredients in Animal Test.

Next, Bioperine, the specific form of black pepper extract, is also known to enhance the absorption of various compounds. Bioperine works in a number of ways, such as through enzyme inhibition, activating amino acid transporters, and other mechanisms.

Does Animal Test Work?

Animal Test - Testosterone Booster

Overall, it is likely that Animal Test will give users an increase in testosterone and possibly extra muscle mass. Animal Test includes ingredients that are scientifically proven to increase total testosterone and, more importantly, free testosterone.

One downside is that since the main ingredients are complexes, it is unclear how much of each individual ingredient is included. As a result, the effectiveness can’t be gauged as well against the scientifically-proven dosages.

Another consideration is that AA doesn’t have a whole lot of human evidence behind it. There are definitely some human studies that show promising results, but I wouldn’t consider AA to be a powerhouse ingredient.

Overall, Animal Test should provide some benefits to the hard-training man.

Claims vs. Reality

Animal Test is supposed to increase your natural testosterone levels, improve strength, and increase muscular hypertrophy. The increase in natural testosterone levels is highly likely to occur given that Animal Test includes ingredients known to directly increase free T, inhibit SHBG, decrease cortisol, and inhibit estrogen, all of which lead to more total and free testosterone.

As for the increases in muscle size and strength, these might occur. I wouldn’t expect any size or strength gains much more than what you would otherwise get from training, but Animal Test may give you a slight edge due to some ingredients that may increase muscle size (AA) and some others that offer enhanced recovery benefits (e.g., trans-resveratrol, hesperetin).

The bottom line: Animal Test will very likely increase your natural total and free testosterone levels while possibly increasing muscle size and strength beyond what would normally occur.

Who is Animal Test Best for?

With its combination of testosterone-boosting and muscle-enhancing ingredients, Animal Test is best for male bodybuilders, strength trainers, and other hard-training men who want to increase their testosterone and get better results in the gym. Men who train intensely sometimes need extra help in order to adequately reduce cortisol, keep T elevated, and recover properly. And the ingredients in Animal Test could very well be a solid supplement to a regimen of intense training, a calorically and nutritionally dense diet, and adequate rest and recovery.

Is Animal Test Safe?

With any supplement, there are always side effects to look out for. Here are some of the common ones in Animal Test:

  • Mild side effects from Cissus quadrangularis include dry mouth, headache, gas, diarrhea, and insomnia
  • Aromatase inhibitors may cause joint stiffness and/or joint pain
  • Yohimbe has been associated with rashes, flushing, agitation, anxiety, insomnia, rapid heartbeat, and dizziness
