Alice Eve’s Diet

Summary

To slim down for her role as Dr. Carol Marcus (and fit into her space suit), Eve subsisted on a diet of spinach and not much else for 5 months. She would have spinach all ways: in smoothies, steamed, and in salads. Aka a green cleanse, it was a pretty extreme way to lose weight and isn’t generally recommended. Left to her own devices, she eats pretty clean, except when she goes home for a visit. Then all bets are off.

Diet Details

\

Strong to the Finish

Eve channeled her inner Popeye and ate spinach 3 times a day, starting with breakfast. Other ingredients in her morning smoothie included kale, beet root and apple.

\

Green Machine

Eve’s lunch was very light, often just some steamed spinach and a piece of fruit such as a pear.

\

Veggie Tales

Dinners for Eve were a study in green: more steamed spinach, green beans and maybe a few highlights with some mixed veggies. As for flavor, she only got a sprinkling of vinegar.

\

It Ain’t Easy Eatin’ Green

While spinach is a healthy choice, it’s far too limited. Eve’s green cleanse might work in the (very) short term, but for a healthy diet you can live with, more variety is needed.

\

Home Cooking Advantage

Eve was able to stick to her strict diet while working, but when she went to visit her parents following an injury, she chowed down on plate after plate of delicious home cooking.

Pavel Tsatsouline Protocol

Boat pose: An ab strengthener. Begin in seated position, knees bent, and lift your feet off floor, followed by your hands. This is half-boat. Straighten your legs if you can to make a V shape with your body.

Big Toe pose: From a standing position with feet 6” apart, bend forward, keeping spine and legs straight. Grab big toes with fingers and thumb, keeping gaze straight ahead.

Bow pose: Lying on stomach, knees bent, reach back with your hands and grab your ankles. Keep knees at same width as hips and lift your heels away, forming an archery bow shape with your body.

Extended hand-to-toe pose: Stand with hands on hips. Draw 1 knee up to your waist and lace fingers around shin. Grab big toe and extend leg as far as you can. Hold for 3-5 breaths then release. Repeat on opposite side.

Camel pose: Kneel on floor. With hands on hips, arch your back and lean back until your hands can grasp your heels. You can either raise your heels by tucking your toes in or keep feet flat on the floor for more of a stretch.

Four-Limb Staff pose: From a plank pose, lower your torso until your body is just a few inches off the mat. Keep legs straight, elbows into ribs and do not allow the low back to dip.
