royal collagen review

Unless you’ve been living in the wilderness for the past few years, you’ve heard of collagen. This substance has been skyrocketing in popularity in the health and wellness realm due primarily to its proposed benefits on both outward appearance and for internal aches and pains.

Because of this boom in popularity, there are many companies out there now that have some sort of collagen product available. Among these is an option called Royal Collagen Peptides. This supplement from BrunoMD is designed to stimulate the production of collagen providing benefits for hair, skin, nails, bones, joints, and cartilage. The question is, does it truly live up to all of its claims?

In this Royal Collagen review, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about this product to decide if it’s truly worth the purchase. So, let’s get started and see if this collagen peptides supplement can live up to all the hype!

About Royal Collagen

Royal Collagen Peptides was created by BrunoMD. It is designed to be a superior collagen product with the ability to stimulate the production of new collagen at any age.

The ingredients in Royal Collagen Peptides are supposedly clinically proven to be some of nature’s most powerful substances. Rather than simply help offset degraded collagen levels, Royal Collagen Peptides is on another level because it is also designed to directly stimulate new collagen too.

Royal Collagen Benefits

By optimizing collagen synthesis, Royal Collagen Peptides is designed to deliver a wide array of benefits for the body. It is advertised to be a 5-in-1 product with benefits for skin, hair, nails, bones, and joints/cartilage.

Skin

One of the things Royal Collagen claims to do is improve overall skin health, including skin texture, hydration, glow, and elasticity. You can also expect reductions in wrinkles and fine lines.

Hair

You don’t need a dedicated hair supplement like Hair Hero to get hair benefits! In the hair department, Royal Collagen is supposed to lead to more youthful, thicker hair, with greater “luster and bounce,” as they say.

Nails

Another aesthetic benefit from Royal Collagen Peptides is the improved strength and appearance of nails, making them less brittle and smoother.

Bones

Turning inward, Royal Collagen Peptides is also advertised to strengthen and improve the overall health of your bones. Certain benefits include increased bone stability, flexibility, and density.

Joints/Cartilage

Finally, this product is designed to support joint/cartilage health, thereby decreasing aches and pains and improving mobility.

Now, if these five main benefits are all true, then we’re dealing with quite the powerful collagen supplement.

But does Royal Collagen Peptides really deserve a spot on the supplement throne? Read on to find out!

Royal Collagen Ingredients

Royal Collagen comes in powder form with 45 calories and 11g of protein (from collagen sources) in each one scoop serving. Below are the active ingredients in Royal Collagen Peptides:

  • Vitamin C (250mg)
  • Highly Purified Collagen Peptides Complex (12.5g) (Royal Collagen Peptides Proprietary Blend)
  • Sicilian Red Orange Extract (100mg) (Red Orange Complex)

Royal Collagen Peptides Proprietary Blend

The main ingredient within this supplement is the Royal Collagen Peptides Proprietary Blend, which is a trademarked form of bovine (cattle) collagen peptides. Collagen makes up about a third of the total protein in the human body, and its primary role is to maintain structural health. It is found abundantly in connective tissues, such as in hair, tendons, ligaments, bones, skin, muscles, and more!

However, collagen production can go down as you age and/or from various lifestyle/environmental factors, which is why supplementation may help. And collagen peptides are likely more beneficial because they’re more bioavailable and can better stimulate the production of collagen. Basically, collagen stimulates the growth of cells in whatever area that needs it, and it also decreases inflammation, both of which are involved in the following benefits.

First, collagen peptide supplementation is associated with a reduction in wrinkles as well as improved skin elasticity and hydration, and an overall decrease in skin aging. Next, collagen supplementation appears to help primarily reduce joint stiffness and possibly joint pain. It may not be as effective for conditions that are already severe, such as osteoarthritis. Furthermore, collagen supplementation can improve bone health by increasing bone mineral density and bone stability.

Other research for hair and nails is not as extensive or conclusive, but some studies show that collagen peptide supplementation can improve nail growth, reduce nail brittleness, and improve nail appearance, as well as improve hair thickness and increase hair growth.

The effective dose of collagen peptides is anywhere from 2.5 to 15g, with higher amounts more effective for a wider scope of issues. There are options out there with even higher dosages, such as Orgain Collagen Peptides with 20g per serving, but Royal Collagen’s 12.5g does already fall towards the higher end of the effective range.

Vitamin C

Up next is vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant in the human body. So, decreasing oxidative stress can lead to many health benefits and overall reductions in inflammation. Not only that, vitamin C is able to increase collagen synthesis, so taking it alongside collagen may be able to improve the effects that collagen has.

Red Orange Complex

The final ingredient is Red Orange Complex, which is a trademarked form of Sicilian red orange extract. Sicilian orange is loaded with antioxidants, and as such, it is able to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress on the body. Research shows that Red Orange Complex is able to reduce skin damage and improve the appearance of skin, and it may be able to improve joint and nail health. Most of the studies use 50 to 100mg.

Does Royal Collagen Peptides Work?

After scanning the evidence, Royal Collage Peptides appears to be a solid collagen supplement. While there ideally needs to be more research done on collagen peptides to clearly demonstrate its effectiveness, there are many research studies out there pointing to its effectiveness for many different health outcomes, especially related to skin health, joint health, and bone health. The research is less conclusive for hair and nails, but there still is solid evidence for collagen’s effectiveness in those areas too.

Also, the ingredients are all at effective doses based on research. The dose of 12.5g of collagen peptides is at the higher end of the range for effective collagen dosages, and this is good because it is then more likely to exert a wider range of benefits. And the vitamin C and Red Orange Complex are all at solid, research-backed doses too.

Essentially, collagen peptides exert many benefits on their own, but these are likely to be enhanced by the inclusion of vitamin C and Red Orange Complex, both of which deliver a boatload of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Plus, vitamin C should increase collagen synthesis even further, which increases the effects that collagen has on hair, skin, nails, bones, joints, etc.

Claims vs. Reality

With all of this being said, I wouldn’t expect Royal Collagen Peptides to be a miracle worker for any health issues, but it should help in a number of areas.

For skin, it should decrease wrinkles and fine lines and should help to make your skin look a little bit younger, fuller, and more hydrated. But will it turn your skin from looking 80 to 40? Likely not.

You also may see fuller and denser hair along with stronger nails, but it likely won’t completely restore significant hair loss or anything like that.

Lastly, Royal Collagen Peptides should increase the strength and health of your bones and joints, especially if you’re an older person or otherwise at risk for these issues (e.g., postmenopausal women). It will unlikely cure arthritis or osteoporosis, but it should reduce joint pains, aches, stiffness, and improve bone strength and health.

Who is Royal Collagen Best For?

This product can be used by anybody looking to improve the various aspects of health mentioned, but it is likely best for middle-aged to older folks simply because they are more likely to be deficient in collagen. Plus, aging itself causes a lot of the problems mentioned in this article, such as hair loss, decreased bone strength, wrinkles and other skin problems, joint pain, and so forth. This supplement is best used in the long term to help prevent or possibly reverse various health conditions, so it isn’t for anybody looking for a quick fix.
