Born in London, Ontario, Canada, Rachel McAdams’s first love was ice skating which she began at age 4. She also developed an interest in performing and participated in theater summer camps. In school, McAdams wasn’t keen on academics but she loved sports and student activities like student council. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 2001. Her tv debut also came in 2001 with Shotgun Love Dolls and My Name is Tanino. The following year, McAdams played in The Hot Chick, and her breakthrough came in 2004 with Mean Girls and The Notebook. In 2005, she starred in Wedding Crashers, and she earned a BAFTA nomination for The Family Stone. TV acting credits include True Detective and Spotlight, for which she received an Oscar nomination. McAdams supports many charities, including environmental cause. From 2007-’11, she ran an eco-website called greenissexy.org. McAdams also narrated the documentary Take Me to the River. She has 2 children with screenwriter Jamie Linden.
