Ouai-Revie

Ouai hair supplement is a vitamin and herbal extract-based supplement that reduces hair shedding, promoting thicker, fuller-looking hair.

Whether it is a good thing or not, we live in a society that places a high premium on appearances of youth and vitality. People buy all kinds of products to help reduce their wrinkles, rejuvenate their skin, and promote healthy bodily functioning.

One market targeted by the youth and vitality crowd is products made for thinning hair. Considering that nearly 2 in 3 men and 1 in 3 women will experience hair loss in their lifetime, there is a huge market for hair loss supplements and treatments.

Ouai (pronounced “way”) is one such hair supplement. Our Ouai review today focuses on Thick & Full, a supplement designed to combat hair thinning and shedding and strengthen hair strands.

Our Ouai review discusses its ingredients and benefits and answers some pertinent questions consumers might have, specifically its pros, cons, efficacy, cost, and whether it is worth the hype.

Who Makes Ouai?

Ouai Founder

Ouai is the brainchild of celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkins, who is considered to be one of the most influential hairstylists in the world. In addition to being the owner/founder of Ouia, she is the founder of the digital magazine ManeAddicts, a publication aimed at giving hair care tips, tricks, and covering fads.

Ouai was launched in 2016 as an online store and subscription service. The word Ouai comes from the slang version of the French word “oui,” meaning “yes.” Atkins chose the word so that the brand would sound casual and unpretentious.

The Ouai hair supplement line was created with the help of Lamees Hamdan, a Dubai-based dermatologist, and in 2018, Ouai and Atkins partnered with popular makeup retailer Sephora and Ouai’s products can be found in Sephora stores nationwide.

Ouai offers a large selection of personal beauty care products besides its thinning hair supplement, including conditioners, hair sprays, body creams, and moisturizers.

What Ingredients Are in Ouai?

ouai ingredients

Ouai’s main ingredients are as follows:

  • Biotin

Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin whose deficiency has been shown to cause rashes and hair loss, and thinning. While there is not much evidence showing that biotin alone can help prevent hair loss and strengthen hair growth, decreased biotin levels are associated with hair loss.

Most of the time, hair loss is not caused by one single thing or deficiency, so no one chemical will fix the problem. However, biotin-containing supplements can stop hair loss in individuals with a deficit.

  • Pea Sprout Extract

Anagain NU is a patented water-soluble extract from peas that has been proven to improve hair density and reduce hair loss. Anagain works by stimulating hair follicles to trigger a natural growth cycle.

  • Vitamins

Ouai contains multivitamins, including B vitamins and minerals like zinc and iron, that facilitate healthy hair growth and prevent hair loss.

  • Amla Extract

Amla, also known as Indian Gooseberry, contains compounds vital for hair nourishment. It contains essential fatty acids that improve hair texture and quality and iron and carotene that stimulate hair growth.

Amla also has high levels of Vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant to fight free radicals and prevent oxidative damage to cells.

How Does Ouai Work?

how ouai works

Basically, Ouai works by giving your body a blend of macronutrients and vitamins that induce hair growth, prevent hair loss, and strengthen hair.

The primary way it does this is by stimulating the production of keratin proteins that make up hair and preventing hair shedding. It generally takes around 60 days for your body to manifest these changes into noticeable results, which is quite the waiting time.

Safety and Side-Effects

Too much biotin intake can cause insomnia, excessive urination, and low vitamin C levels. However, Ouai does not contain enough Biotin to cause these effects unless you take half the jar at once. Biotin intake safety has been observed up to levels of 5000mcg, and Ouai only contains 50mcg per serving.

Otherwise, Ouai does not have any known significant side effects aside from a possible upset stomach which is very common when someone starts taking new supplements.

One warning, though: since Ouai might have an effect on hormone levels, it is not recommended that pregnant women take it.

Where to Buy Ouai & Cost

If you have the patience, money, and time to devote to 60 days of waiting for results, then we would recommend using Ouai.

The ingredients have all been independently shown to have beneficial effects, and the main hair supplement product line is designed with the help of a professional dermatologist.

Users generally have positive feedback about this product. However, we think that $42 is a lot to spend monthly on a supplement you’ll need to use for a while before seeing results and probably continue using to maintain the results. If you are comfortable with this factor, Ouai may just get your hair loss problems out of the way.
