A fan of theater from a young age, she moved to New York City after graduating from college and studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse. Her film debut came in 2012 in Smashed, and she has gone on to play bigger roles in films such as Breath In, The Martian and as the super-soldier from the future in Terminator: Dark Fate. Davis has also acted on television, including as one of the leads in Station Eleven and Halt and Catch Fire. She is an ambassador for the charity One Girl Can which empowers Kenyan and Ugandan girls through education. Davis does not engage on social media. She is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 130 lbs.
Mackenzie Davis’s Diet
Davis did a lot of prep to get her body ready for Terminator: Dark Fate. Working with a trainer, she went on a strict diet for 3 months prior to filming, and it continued through the shoot which lasted a half a year. For a foodie, it was tough times, but it paid off. She had to give up all sugar, alcohol, and basically everything else besides meat, vegetables and water. In the weeks leading up to the nude scene, she even cut back on water to give further definition to her muscles. When she got past that, Davis celebrated with a huge carb feast.
- Low-Medium Carb 25% 25%
- Low-Medium Fat 25% 25%
- High Protein 80% 80%
Davis said that while she was allowed to eat and actually ate plenty of food while prepping for Terminator, it was all the boring stuff that no one likes.
To keep her body in shape for the nude scenes in Terminator, Davis followed a bodybuilder-like regimen she called ‘starvation weeks’ to be as lean as possible. Filming kept getting postponed and so the process had to be repeated several times. By the time they actually shot the scene, she was super confident to appear nude, and couldn’t wait to treat herself afterward.
Cloud Nine Time
After getting the nude fight scene out of the way, Davis really went to town. She says her trailer was filled with baked goods and Swedish candy and she stopped off for 3 pizzas on her way back to her hotel.
