Connie Britton (née Constance Womack) was born in Boston and spent a few years in Maryland before moving to Virginia. She performed in her high school theater and majored in Asian studies at Dartmouth College. In 1989, Britton moved to New York City where she studied acting with Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre and worked for a few years in off-Broadway productions. In 1995, Britton appeared in the film The Brothers McMullen which won a Sundance Jury Prize. She then moved to LA where she landed regular roles on Ellen and Spin City. In 2001, she starred in The Next Big Thing, but Britton is probably best known for playing in Friday Night Lights for which she earned a Primetime Emmy nomination. She also starred and sang in the series Nashville, and has released several songs independent of the show. She was married to John Britton from 1991-95. In 2011, she adopted a son from Ethiopia. Britton is a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN. She has hundreds of thousands of followers on social media. Britton is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs about 130 lbs.
