Growing up in the backwoods, he was always active but he says as soon as he pulled that first bowstring, he’d found what was missing in his life. Hanes regularly runs 100-mile ultramarathons in addition to extreme bowhunting in remote locations. He is sometimes called the ‘Lance Armstrong of Bowhunting.’ Hanes writes about bowhunting and appears on tv programs, sharing his knowledge and passion for the sport, and his Backcountry Bowhunting book is one of the best-selling books on the topic. He also has a supplement line called Mtn Ops. Hanes is married and has 3 children. He has almost a million follower on social media. Hanes is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 165 lbs. Weekly Routine

Consistency Is Key

Hanes doesn’t expect fancy routines or variety. He just gets out there and does what he needs to do.

Make It A Family Affair

Hanes’ exercise routine consists running, using his bow and weightlifting, every single day. Because time is tight, he tries to do at least some these things with his family.

The Sky’s the Limit

Hanes believes the only thing holding any of us back is our mind, and to achieve your dreams, all you have to do is be tough and stick with it.

Run

Every single day, Hanes runs at least 10 miles, often more, and he usually does more than one session. He spends about 90-120 minutes a day running.

Shoot

Hanes’ second rule of the day is to make time for some bow work. Even when it’s the off-season, he’s always practicing.

Lift

Hanes spends about 45 minutes to an hour each day lifting, even if it means missing out on some sleep.

Repeat

Hanes’ day is always jam-packed, but he doesn’t make excuses.
