He has toured over 100 countries and offered seminars to over 3 million people throughout his long career. Robbins has used a controversial method of training in his seminars known as ‘firewalking’ in which participants walk barefoot over hot coals to prove that fear and inner doubt are often what holds us back from achieving greatness. The Tony Robbins Foundation is a philanthropic organization that helps marginalized populations including the homeless, prisoners, youth and seniors. Robbins is a proponent of the ‘Fit for Life’ diet created by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond. This diet focuses on fresh vegetables and fruits, particularly ones that have a high water content. It is low on meat and animal products including dairy. Robbins believes that seventy percent of your intake should come from ‘live’ foods, ones containing mostly water. Food combining is another important component of this diet, such as eating fruit on an empty stomach and not eating proteins with carbohydrates. Robbins backed off eating fish exclusively after discovering dangerously high levels of heavy metals in his blood.

Aerobic Energy Gives You Power

Robbins says aerobic exercise is critical for health and energy.

Start Small

If you’re just starting out, Robbins recommends 30 minutes of aerobic exercise such as walking, running, swimming, biking, etc., 3-5 times per week.

Know Your Ideal Heart Rate

You want to hit your target training zone, which is 180 minus your age.

Keep It Interesting

Robbins advises mixing things up, changing your environment, listening to music, or meeting up with friends to motivate yourself to stick with it.

HIIT It Hard

Not surprisingly, Robbins doesn’t have a ton of time to workout, and so he squeezes a high-intensity workout into just 15 minutes.

Remember to Breathe

Oxygen is essential to good health and remaining calm. Robbins uses a technique called ‘power breathing’: Inhale for a count of 1; hold your breath for a count of 4; exhale for a count of 2.
