So, what exactly is LIT AXIS?

At first glance, LIT AXIS appears to be a simple set of resistance bands, but it’s actually much more than that (we’ll explain why as we go through the review).

There are two parts to the LIT AXIS system:

  1. The exercise equipment (resistance bands)
  2. The App

You can think of LIT AXIS as the Peloton of resistance bands. While the Peloton appears to be just another exercise bike, it’s the built-in training and classes that have made it wildly popular. LIT AXIS offers the same appeal to people who want a more versatile exercise experience.

What Comes in the Box?

Let’s start by taking a look at the physical component of LIT AXIS – the product itself.

So, what exactly is all of this stuff?

The AXIS Smart Sensors are the clips that connect to the LIT app via Bluetooth. Essentially, this is what makes these “smart” resistance bands. The Smart Sensors can track your workout and provide insights in the app (more on this later).

The resistance bands are what actually give you a workout. You clip these bands onto the sensors to facilitate resistance training. The resistance bands come in two levels of difficulty, so you can slowly work your way up to more difficult exercises or switch the bands for different types of exercises.

The handle attachments are used for any exercise involving your hands (i.e. gripping the handles). This isn’t limited to upper-body workouts. While the handles can be used for arm workouts like bicep curls, they can also be used for squats, lunges, etc.

The ankle/wrist cuffs allow you to strap either your ankles or wrists to the resistance bands for specialized workouts.

Lastly, the universal anchor is the anchor you use to hold one end of the resistance bands in place. The anchor can be connected to a door, heavy furniture, or any other suitable anchor.

The LIT app is available for iOS and Android.

To get started, simply download the app.

After you download the app and create an account, you will be asked a few questions about your physique and fitness goals. These include:

  • Fitness Experience (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)

The answers to these questions will be used to personalize your experience.

  • Equipment (LIT AXIS, Bodyweight, or LIT Strength Machine)

You can also use “Freestyle Mode” to create and track your own workout.

Workout Tracking

One of the unique and exciting features of the LIT AXIS system is that the resistance bands are connected to the LIT app via Bluetooth. Not only do you get workout guidance via the classes, but you can also track your workouts in real time.

The LIT App will track:

  • The total pounds lifted (based on the resistance measurement)
  • The number of reps
  • The time of the workout
  • The time under tension (i.e. time you are actually working out)
  • Estimated calories burned during the workout

This is definitely the best feature of the LIT AXIS system, as it allows you to see how effective your workouts actually are. It also provides some extra motivation if you want to reach specific workout goals (i.e. burn a certain amount of calories or do a certain amount of reps). You can also connect to a heart rate monitor (sold separately) if you want to track your heart rate during a workout.

The LIT app shows your performance over time. You can track your stats over a week, 3 months, 6 months, or all-time. You can see a calendar that tracks which days you worked out and how many classes you’ve taken.

This can be particularly motivating for those who want to “gamify” their approach to exercising and keep track of progress. Speaking of gamification, you can also earn badges for different achievements.

What Types of Workouts Can You Do?

You would be surprised by how many different workouts you can do with resistance bands.

The LIT AXIS and LIT App can target every muscle in your body. You can do full-body workouts or target specific areas on different days.

Of course, all of the workouts are based on resistance training and bodyweight workouts. These workouts can be used to:

First, as mentioned above, it is convenient. You can work out from the comfort of your own home, follow along with professionally recorded classes, and track your progress in real-time.

Second, the app holds you accountable. The LIT app keeps track of your adherence to workouts as well as your progress over time. In this sense, it’s similar to a FitBit (or any other fitness tracker). It’s a lot easier to get your 10,000 steps in when you have a fitness tracker guilting you for sitting all day! The same is true for the LIT app. It provides some extra motivation to stick to your routine so you can see your progress and boost your stats.

People Who Want an At-Home Workout Solution

Some people may use the LIT AXIS system religiously. They will replace their gym membership with the LIT AXIS and accompanying app.

While the product offers all of the tools you need to cancel your gym membership, many people still like going to the gym. There is a social component to gym workouts as well as a broader selection of exercise equipment.

This leads to the final question of our review – is the LIT AXIS worth it?

At $199, the product is more expensive than a simple set of resistance bands, but this isn’t a fair comparison. It would be like comparing a $2,500 Peloton to a $100 fitness bike you can buy on Amazon. It’s not an apples-to-apples comparison.

We’ve referred to the LIT AXIS as a “system” throughout our review, and that’s really what it is. It is a versatile at-home exercise program that offers classes, exercise equipment, and tracking tools.

If you plan to use the LIT AXIS system regularly, it definitely justifies the price. The original purchase price ($199) is much cheaper than other “smart” exercise equipment and the monthly App subscription is cheaper than a gym membership (as well as apps from other fitness products).
