Many people fall short on getting enough nutrients in their diet, which can make the idea of superfood shakes so appealing.

After all, it can be intriguing to think that just taking a simple shake helps meet your daily nutrient needs, with no cooking or mess required!

Of course, it’s not always that simple. And in this article, we’re going over a superfood shake called Happy Viking to see what benefits it may offer and if their claims are really backed up.

Let’s get into this Happy Viking review!

About Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods

Happy Viking is a plant protein and superfood supplement created by Venus Williams (who, if you somehow haven’t heard of her, is one of the most successful women’s tennis players ever).

Williams initially created Happy Viking after she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. Her goal was to get her health back to a higher level, and now it’s available for everyone.

Happy Viking contains 20g of plant-based protein per serving, as well as one full cup of fruits and vegetables from dozens of different superfoods, such as acai, kale, camu camu, and pomegranate. Additionally, Happy Viking contains prebiotics, omega-3s, and a few other ingredients designed to support overall health.

Oh, and it’s also meant to taste delicious too; Williams was really focused on creating a shake that you could actually enjoy.

Overall, Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods is meant to be a convenient, tasty, and nutritious drink whenever you need it most, whether that’s for breakfast, a snack, or a post-workout shake.

Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods Benefits

Happy Viking Superfood Meal is designed to provide you with many different health benefits, including:

  • Improved Digestion
  • Sustained Energy & Brain Function
  • Immune Support
  • Muscle Growth & Recovery
  • Hair/Skin/Nail Health

Improved Digestion

Happy Viking is designed to improve digestion and support gut health, mainly through a mix of prebiotic fibers and probiotics. Additionally, the variety of fruits and vegetables in Happy Viking may reduce inflammation, which could also improve gut health.

Sustained Energy & Brain Function

Another advertised benefit of Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods is sustained energy and brain function. This is in part due to the combination of fiber, healthy fats, and protein, which gives your body several of the nutrients it needs to function.

In addition, Happy Viking contains a few direct energy boosters, such as caffeine and coffeeberry extract, as well as B-complex vitamins.

Immune Support

Happy Viking Superfood Meal also claims to offer immune support to keep you healthy at all times. Many superfoods in here are nutrient-dense and support immune function, especially acai berry, acerola cherry, camu camu, and wild blueberry.

There are also added vitamins and minerals for immune support, such as zinc and vitamin C.

Muscle Growth & Recovery

One of the key benefits promoted by Happy Viking is better recovery and boosted muscle growth, thanks in large part to the 20g of plant-based protein in each serving.

Specifically, the protein here comes from brown rice and pea protein, which is designed to deliver all of the essential amino acids your muscles need for repair and growth.

Beyond that, the wide variety of antioxidant-rich compounds in here, such as cranberry, spinach, and tart cherry, may also support better recovery.

Hair/Skin/Nail Health

Lastly, Happy Viking is designed to support hair, skin, and nail health. Firstly, this is due to vitamin C-rich foods such as acai, acerola, and camu camu, which they say in turn boost collagen production.

Additionally, the numerous antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds found in all of the superfoods in general may be supportive of hair, skin, and nail health, helping you to look as good as you feel.

Altogether, Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods is advertised to deliver impressive benefits from multiple angles.

But how good is this formula, really?

Keep reading to find out!

Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods Ingredients

There are over 60 ingredients in Happy Viking, including plant protein sources, fruits, vegetables, and other superfoods, probiotics, prebiotics, vitamins, and minerals, among other things.

In each serving (depending on the flavor), you get roughly 20g of protein, 5g of fat, 14g of carbs, and 5g of fiber, with about 160 calories.

Below, we’ll take a look at the main ingredients and analyze their possible benefits.

happy viking nutrition facts

Happy Viking Protein Blend (Yellow Pea & Brown Rice)

The Happy Viking Protein Blend contains yellow pea protein and brown rice protein. These plant sources are some of the most bioavailable forms of plant protein, with a high concentration of essential amino acids, including the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs).

Also, it’s smart to combine these two because of their complementary effects. Specifically, yellow peas are low in methionine yet rather high in lysine and threonine, and brown rice is low in lysine and threonine yet high in methionine.

So, combining these two helps to create a complete amino acid profile and make up for areas where the other ingredient is low. In fact, other top plant proteins, such as Garden of Life Protein and Greens like to use this specific combo too.

And with 20g of protein per serving, this can support workout recovery and muscle growth within the context of a protein-rich diet.

MCT Oil

The main fat source in Happy Viking is MCT oil, which is a type of saturated fat. There is some evidence that this type of fat can improve metabolism and increase fullness better than some other fats.

This could possibly help a little bit with weight loss, but we wouldn’t expect anything huge here.

Fiber Sources

Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods contains a few fiber sources too, namely soluble vegetable fiber, acacia gum, guar gum, and xanthan gum.

This mixture provides a good amount of prebiotic fiber, which can feed the good bacteria in your gut, thereby improving digestion and gut health. Of course, fiber has many other benefits too, including hunger regulation, improved metabolism, and heart support.

And from the label, we see that there is 5g of fiber per serving, so that’s a good amount and tells us they didn’t undershoot the doses here.

Vitamin & Mineral Blend

The Vitamin & Mineral Blend contains 21 vitamins and minerals, with most dosed at no more than 50% of the Daily Value. Adding these can simply act as a way to boost your nutrient intake without needing to consume a lot of food.

We can’t say if these will deliver any huge benefits, but it doesn’t hurt to add them in, especially since they didn’t put in any vitamins or minerals in crazy high amounts, which we often see.

Organic Ancient Grains Blend

The Organic Ancient Grains Blend consists of amaranth, quinoa, buckwheat, millet, and chia, all of which are organic.

These grains offer a wide range of nutrients, such as zinc, magnesium, iron, B-complex vitamins, and various antioxidants.

The dose for these is unclear though, so it’s hard to say the benefits you could get from them. But they are generally supportive of metabolism, gut health, energy, and other areas.

Coffee Powder

Happy Viking also contains caffeine from coffee powder, but they don’t say how much. Since this ingredient is far down on the list, we’re assuming it’s not much. But it would be better if they said exactly how much.

Probiotics

There are two probiotics in Happy Viking: Bifidobacterium lactis and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus.

Probiotics are often called “good bacteria” because these specific forms of bacteria are necessary for a healthy gut. These probiotics can get rid of harmful bacteria, improve gut barrier integrity, and promote better digestion.

Superfoods

There are over 25 superfoods in the Happy Viking formula, including pomegranate, asparagus, acerola, camu camu, cranberry, spinach, carrot, broccoli sprout, wild blueberry, and grape seed extract.

Essentially, all of these superfoods provide a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other phytonutrients and deliver several health benefits.

Together, the effects of these fruits, vegetables, and other superfoods can support brain function, gut health, immunity, inflammation control, skin health, and pretty much every other area.

In terms of the dosage, they state that each serving provides 1 cup of fruits and vegetables. This is a decent amount, but keep in mind that it’s definitely not near the daily requirement on its own.

Algal Oil

The last ingredient in Happy Viking is algal oil, which is a vegan source of omega-3s, including DHA.

However, they say it’s only 32mg of DHA per serving, which really doesn’t contribute a whole lot to make a noticeable difference. So, if you’re looking to add in a higher amount of DHA and omegas from plant sources, it’s better to go with a specific supplement for that job, such as Juice Plus+ Omega Blend.

Does Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods Work?

Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods is, overall, a good supplement that should be good for workout performance and overall health.

happy viking plant protein shake

The most beneficial things in this formula are the 20g of plant-based protein, 5g of fiber, and the equivalent of 1 cup of fruits and vegetables per serving. These components can definitely help promote muscle growth and recovery, keep you full/support weight loss, reduce inflammation, and improve all-around wellness.

The other ingredients not mentioned may also help too, but they just won’t have as big of an impact since the doses are pretty low. Still, they’ll likely do at least something beneficial.

How Does Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods Compare?

Happy Viking is one of the better protein and superfood formulas out there. For one, they actually deliver a good amount of both protein and fiber, whereas many similar products undershoot at least one of these. And while the fruits and vegetables dose isn’t that high overall, it’s still pretty good and comes from a wide variety of different sources.

Plus, Happy Viking doesn’t contain any unnecessary garbage and is a clean, safe formula overall.

Ka’Chava

One formula that instantly came to mind when comparing Happy Viking was Ka’Chava, since this is also advertised as a protein and superfood shake.

Compared to Happy Viking, Ka’Chava has more ingredients overall and higher doses, including 25g of protein per serving. They also have an adaptogenic blend and digestive enzymes, which Happy Viking does not have.

So, Ka’Chava is a bit better overall, and it’s also the same price as Happy Viking (the regular price for each is $60 for 15 servings).

Who is Happy Viking Plant Protein & Superfoods Best For?

It appears to be a suitable way for those looking for a quick breakfast smoothie, snack, and/or post-workout shake, or even a meal replacement in some cases (though keep in mind the total calories is only around 160 so other ingredients may need to be added).
