Elizabeth Banks is the stage name of Elizabeth Mitchell. Growing up in Massachusetts, she played baseball and rode horses. In 1996, Banks graduated magna cum laude with a major in communications and a minor in theater arts from the University of Pennsylvania. Two years later, she earned an MFA at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Her professional debut came the same year with a role in the film Surrender Dorothy. Banks appeared in several more films over the next few years, including Wet Hot American Summer and Seabiscuit, and she gained wider recognition with the 2005 film The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Banks earned 2 Primetime Emmy nominations for the tv show 30 Rock, but she is perhaps best known for playing in The Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect. Banks directed Pitch Perfect 2, and wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the 2019 version of Charlie’s Angels. Banks also played in the 2017 Power Rangers reboot. She has run a production company with husband Max Handelman since 2002 and she owns half of the wine company Archer Roose. The couple has 2 sons. Banks has millions of followers on social media.
