betterbrand betterlungs review

Respiratory and lung health have received even more attention in the last few years, due of course mainly to COVID and the related complications that can occur.

But even with those more serious things aside, many people deal with a number of day-to-day breathing problems, such as asthma, coughs, or simply not having as much endurance as before.

Well, there seems to be a supplement out there for every issue, and lung problems are no exception. We found a supplement called BetterLungs which claims to provide potent respiratory and lung support.

Keep reading this BetterLungs review to see what the ingredients are, the possible benefits, and more.

About BetterBrand BetterLungs

BetterLungs is made and produced by BetterBrand, a supplement company that has produced a variety of other products, such as BetterMorning.

BetterLungs is designed as a natural lung and respiratory health supplement. It is made up of six natural ingredients that are supposed to detox and cleanse the lungs, while also providing endurance support.

Some of the ingredients in BetterLungs include mullein, elderberry, and American ginseng. We liked to see that all ingredients have specific dosages listed out too on their fully transparent label.

Apparently, they say that all it takes is just two capsules per day and you’ll be well on your way to achieving healthier, stronger lungs and better respiratory function.

The unique actions of BetterLungs are advertised to be suitable for people with allergies, smokers, vapers, travelers, and anyone with chronic breathing problems.

BetterBrand BetterLungs Benefits

BetterLungs is advertised to target lung health and deliver these specialty benefits:

  • Enhanced Airway & Lung Health
  • Mucus Clearance
  • Reduced Coughs

Enhanced Airway & Lung Health

We can face many factors in our world that decrease lung strength and health, such as air pollution, being indoors all day, cigarette smoke, and an unhealthy diet.

BetterLungs claims to offer a unique blend of compounds that strengthen your lungs and support overall respiratory function. This includes maritime pine bark, mullein, and a variety of other herbal compounds.

Mucus Clearance

Mucus is not only gross, it can also get in the way of proper breathing and lung function. It’s beneficial for short periods when you’re sick, but you certainly don’t want excess mucus to hang around for a while.

Fortunately, Better Lungs is advertised to promote mucus clearance and free up your airways. They say that mullein leaf in particular is designed to blast away mucus while also helping to soothe a sore throat.

Reduced Coughs

Coughing can be due to many reasons, such as allergies, sickness, or exposure to pollutants. Unfortunately, there are many things we’re exposed to that can make you cough quite frequently.

But BetterLungs claims to help you get a handle on your coughs and breathe more easily. This is due to a variety of compounds that support general immune and respiratory function, such as elderberry and reishi, but also from the mucus-clearing effects mentioned above.

Seasonal and Bronchial Sinus Support

Seasonal allergies are not fun at all! If you’ve ever dealt with them, you know all too well the horrors of a constant stuffy nose, itchy eyes, and even fatigue.

BetterLungs is advertised to deliver seasonal bronchial and sinus support. Many ingredients in this formula are supposed to help clear out irritants and minimize allergy symptoms. This includes cysteine, mullein, and maritime pine bark.

Improved Endurance

Without optimal lung function, your endurance and athletic performance will likely suffer. This is obviously a bigger deal for competitive athletes. But even if you’re just someone who likes to exercise daily, not feeling at your best can be really frustrating.

One of the unique claims of BetterLungs is that it enhances endurance and athletic performance. American ginseng is included to help your body become more resistant to stress, and other ingredients such as reishi are meant to enhance overall endurance function.

Based on these claims, BetterLungs seems to be worthy for a wide variety of breathing issues. But will this product actually give you, well…better lungs?! Read on to find out.

BetterBrand BetterLungs Supplement Facts

Mullein Leaf (300mg)

Mullein is a medicinal herb that has been used for a long time in traditional medicine for various respiratory conditions.

It contains a wide variety of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and other compounds. There haven’t been many clinical trials done, but mullein seems to offer anti-inflammatory effects and may help with clearing mucus, which could improve lung function and reduce coughs.

L-Cysteine (400mg)

L-cysteine is an amino acid. Among its many functions, it aids in the creation of glutathione, which is a powerful antioxidant compound.

In addition to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, it may also get rid of mucus, decrease airway infections, and support general lung function. There’s evidence that cysteine supplementation is effective for various respiratory problems, such as bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Vitamin D (25mcg)

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin with many roles in the body. Among its many actions, vitamin D is critical for overall immune health. And research shows that vitamin D is necessary for reducing lung inflammation and for protecting against respiratory pathogens.

Maritime Pine Bark (150mg)

Maritime pine bark is filled with a number of antioxidant compounds, such as proanthocyanidins. These may offer antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting effects.

Plus, there’s some evidence that maritime pine bark may be able to reduce airway damage from cigarette smoke. And it also helps clear mucus and decreases airway inflammation, which may be helpful for people with asthma.

This ingredient is only frequently used in prostate health supplements too, such as ProstateMD.

Elderberry (100mg)

Elderberry is a potent fruit that’s rich in vitamin C and a variety of antioxidant compounds. It can improve immune function. And research shows that elderberry supplementation is useful for reducing the severity of upper respiratory infections and other viral respiratory sicknesses.

American Ginseng (50mg)

American ginseng (which is distinct from Panax ginseng) is an herb with a long history of use in traditional medicine. It contains ginsenosides and other compounds that may have both stimulating and adaptogenic (i.e. stress-managing) properties.

And there is some evidence that American ginseng can reduce fatigue and increase endurance during exercise.

It’s often found in many workout endurance supplements too, such as Mdrive Elite Performance

Reishi Mushroom (37.5mg)

Reishi is a medicinal mushroom most often used for boosting immune function. The various components found in reishi are able to stimulate immune defense pathways and also seem to offer anti-inflammatory effects.

Does BetterBrand BetterLungs Work?

It appears that BetterBrand BetterLungs will likely work for improving all-around respiratory function and lung health.

All of the ingredients have at least some research behind them, and most of them have clinical evidence (which is the best because it shows how it works in humans).

In particular, I like that BetterBrand BetterLungs uses solid dosages of cysteine and maritime pine bark, which are two of the most well-researched ingredients for lung health.

And make no mistake, the other ingredients may provide a wide variety of benefits too. Basically, the BetterLungs formula could definitely reduce inflammation, get rid of mucus, improve immunity, decrease respiratory infections, and strengthen the lungs.

Plus, it may also provide general health support and could benefit endurance and exercise performance.

How Does BetterBrand BetterLungs Compare?

There really aren’t many supplements designed specifically for respiratory health or lung function. However, there still are enough to where we can make some general comparisons.

And overall, BetterLungs is one of the higher-quality products. It uses a fully transparent label, which sets it apart from many products we’ve seen that use proprietary blends.

Also, BetterLungs includes a good amount of herbal compounds in it, and we’ve seen that many other supplements use mullein, elderberry, cysteine, and so on. With that said, some other respiratory supplements provide additional herbal ingredients, such as elecampane and holy basil.

Who is BetterBrand BetterLungs Best For?

BetterBrand BetterLungs is suitable for a wide variety of people with breathing problems. Based on the specific formula, BetterLungs seems most appropriate for people with mucus buildup, chronic coughs, or asthma, as well as for smokers, vapers, and individuals with seasonal allergies.

We don’t recommend it necessarily for endurance as this really isn’t a main feature of it.

How to Take BetterBrand BetterLungs

Those interested in using BetterLungs should take two capsules per day. They don’t specify if it should be with a meal or water, but we always recommend taking new supplements with food or at least a glass of water to minimize any possible digestive side effects.

Is BetterBrand BetterLungs Safe?

BetterBrand BetterLungs is safe for most people to consume as all ingredients are generally recognized as safe.

There are always possible side effects, though, such as the following:

  • Allergic reactions
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Itching, rash
  • Nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea
  • Nervousness, insomnia

BetterLungs is made in the USA in a GMP-certified, FDA-registered facility. It is also third-party tested for quality and consistency.

On top of that, BetterBrand BetterLungs is vegetarian-friendly and doesn’t appear to contain any of the top eight allergens (but always check with the company to make sure).
