truMedic Massage Gun Review

Massage guns are quickly becoming an essential piece of equipment for sore muscle relief, and the truMedic Massage gun is one of the newer ones to catch our attention at Fitness Clone.

When massage guns (also known as “percussive massagers”) first hit the market, they were expensive, and there were only a few brands that made them.

I remember first hearing about massage guns, checking the price tag, and thinking people were crazy to spend $600 on a massager – and then I tried one. I used a friend’s massage gun after an intense workout, and I was hooked. Not only did it provide a pleasant post-workout massage, but it also decreased my soreness the next day.

I started my search for the best massage gun on the market. I tested the Theragun (full review here), Hyrdagun (full review here), Reathlete Deep 4S (full review here), and more. When I first started testing massage guns, there were only a couple dozen on the market. Now there are hundreds of options, and it can be difficult to determine which one is best.

When testing and reviewing many of the top massage guns, I look at a few key criteria:

  • Price
  • Quality
  • Effectiveness

With all that being said, in this review, we are going to take a look at another massage gun option called truRelief Impact Therapy Device PRO model – one of the top-of-the-line truMedic massage guns.

truMedic Massage Gun

How does it stack up to the competition?

Keep reading our truMedic Massage Gun review to find out.

About truMedic

When reviewing any product, we like to look at the company behind the product. This is especially important with massage guns since there are so many cheap, white-labeled options online (many of which come from the same factories in China).

The company behind the subject of this review is truMedic. truMedic is a US-based company that specializes in massage products. The company produces everything from foot massagers to full-sized massage chairs. Massage guns appear to be one of the newer additions to the company’s product line, and they fit right in.

truMedic Case

truMedic offers six different massage guns, ranging in price from $130-$400. Quality and features will vary by product. We will be focusing on the truRelief Impact Therapy Device PRO, one of the higher-end truMedic devices.

About truRelief Impact Therapy PRO

The truRelief Impact Therapy PRO device is one of the more expensive and feature-rich massage guns in truMedic’s lineup. The device is priced at $300, making it the company’s second most expensive massage gun (second only to the “MAX” version).

While the company has cheaper massage guns, we believe the truRelief PRO is the best subject of our review since its price and features are closest to the other massage guns we have reviewed.

We’re about to dive deep into the features, but here are a few worth noting:

  • Quality Build
  • Powerful Device
  • 6 Speed Settings
  • 5 Attachment Heads
  • Relatively Quiet
  • Lightweight and Portable (Includes Carrying Case)

Massage Gun Benefits

If you are reading this review, you are probably already sold on the benefits of massage guns. We won’t go into too much depth here, since our goal with this truMedic massage gun review is to determine if this specific massage gun is worth purchasing when compared to the competition.

That said, here are a few of the main benefits of using a massage gun:

  • Workout Recovery – Minimize soreness after intense exercise, weight lifting, and workouts
  • Muscle Soreness Relief – Relieve pain caused by muscle soreness
  • Improved Blood Flow – Increase blood flow to muscles

truMedic Massage Gun Features

Below are the main criteria we analyzed when reviewing the truMedic massage gun.

Quality

When you first open the truRelief Impact PRO box, it’s clear that it is a quality product. The product comes in a nice carrying case. Once you open the case, you’re ready to test out the percussive massager.

The product is crafted with high-quality materials on par with other massage guns in this price range. This is to be expected with a higher-end massage gun. If you buy a lower-priced massage gun (i.e., under $200), such as the Opove M3 Pro, the quality is not as high. Once you enter the $300 price range, you should expect quality materials and a sturdy device.

The truMedic massage gun delivers on quality.

Speed and Amplitude

The effectiveness of a percussive massager comes down to two things: speed and amplitude.

Speed is the rate at which the massage gun head moves, and it is measured in pulses-per-minute (PPM). The truRelief PRO device has a PPM range of 1800-3200. There are 6 speed settings that allow you to decide the intensity of your massage. The speed you choose will come down to both personal preference and the area being massaged. For example, larger muscles like leg muscles may be a good fit for higher speeds, whereas more sensitive muscles may be a better fit for lower speeds.

Amplitude refers to the depth of each pulse, and it is measured in millimeters (mm). The truRelief pro has an amplitude of 10mm, which is on the lower end when compared to other similar massagers (i.e., not as deep). While this is likely to be appreciated by people who are trying to relieve soreness (or have sensitive muscles and muscle pain), people who prefer a deeper massage may prefer a device with a higher amplitude.

Attachment Heads

The truRelief PRO model comes with 5 attachment heads that can be swapped out for different types of massages. These include:

  • Ball – Good for deep massages
  • Cylinder – Good for targeted massages on smaller areas
  • Flat – Good for larger muscles
  • Fork – Good for areas surrounded by bone (i.e., the spine)
  • Wedge – Good for “Scraping” massages around areas of concern (i.e., shoulders)

All of the heads are high-quality and serve their purpose.

truMedic Massage Gun Attachments

I use the “ball” massage head 95% of the time, but that may be a personal preference since I generally use massage guns for exercise recovery. Individuals with specific muscle areas of concern are likely to benefit from the additional, specialized heads.

Volume/Noise

Some of the early massage guns to hit the market were loud (and I mean, “hear it from the next room” loud). Newer iterations are much quieter, and the truMedic massage gun is one of the quietest massage guns I’ve tested. You can use it in the same room as someone without disturbing them.

Battery Life

The truRelief PRO has a battery life of about 4 hours. The charge is enough to last for about a month, depending on how frequently you use the device. I generally use the device in 5-10 minute sessions no more than 5 times per week.

The device has a built-in rechargeable battery which takes about 3 hours to recharge fully.

truMedic Massage Gun Pricing

The truRelief Impact Therapy Device PRO sells for $299.97 on the company’s official website. There are cheaper models available; however, we did not test or review those.

Shipping is free and backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

How Does the truMedic Massage Gun Compare?

The truMedic Impact Therapy Device PRO is a great massage gun. It is on par with most of the other massage guns we tested in the $300 price range, and better quality than the cheaper ones we tested.

While many massage guns are similar, truMedic stands out in a few ways:

  • Quieter Than Other Massage Guns
  • 6 Massage Speeds (vs. 3-4 on similarly priced models)
  • 4-Hour Battery Life (vs. 3 on cheaper models)
  • Sleek Carrying Case
  • Unique “Wedge” Head
  • Lightweight, Ergonomic Design

Final Thoughts: truMedic Massage Gun Review

Ultimately, you can’t go wrong with the truMedic Impact Therapy PRO massage gun. The device has all of the features you would expect from a massage gun in this price range, and it is backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 6-month warranty that can be extended to one year.
