keranew review

Hair products have been around for quite a long time by now. But what’s a little bit newer to the game is the use of oral hair supplements designed to promote hair growth and fullness from the inside-out.

One such supplement that’s designed to be an all-in-one hair support supplement is called KeraNew by Kintsugi Hair.

Keep reading our KeraNew review to see this product’s ingredients, standout features, potential benefits, and how it compares to other hair supplements!

About KeraNew

KeraNew is advertised as a nourishing hair complex created by Kintsugi Hair. This formula includes a trademarked form of keratin (known as Keraplast DFK Glow), along with collagen, horsetail, burdock, and several other ingredients.

With this combo of ingredients, KeraNew is designed to nourish your scalp and strengthen your hair strands to increase hair fullness, youthfulness, and overall beauty.

KeraNew Benefits

KeraNew is marketed as a powerful hair support supplement with the following benefits:

  • Softer, Silkier Hair
  • More Youthful Hair
  • Increased Hair Fullness & Thickness
  • Protection Against Hair Damage
KeraNew For Healthy Hair

Softer, Silkier Hair

Split ends and frizzy hair are annoying to deal with and often signal a problem with overall hair strength and health.

KeraNew claims to strengthen your hair strands and promote softer silkier hair, especially with hydrolyzed collagen and Keraplast DFK GLOW. Plus, they use hyaluronic acid which is designed to soften and moisturize the scalp thus also contributing to silkier hair.

More Youthful Hair

Over the years, you may experience hair thinning, dullness, or other effects, which are simply due to the natural aging process.

But KeraNew is advertised to slow this aging process and even give you younger-looking hair. They say that burdock and other antioxidants help to decrease free radicals, while horsetail and other ingredients work to give your hair vital minerals and nutrients. All of which is designed to give your hair a more youthful appearance.

Increased Hair Fullness & Thickness

Thinning hair can be embarrassing. And as you age, it may only get worse.

Kintsugi Hair claims that KeraNew increases hair fullness and thickness, mainly by giving your hair key proteins and minerals from DFK GlOW, collagen, and horsetail. These may also reduce the likelihood of hair thinning as you age.

Protection Against Hair Damage

Your hair can take a beating, whether that’s from pollution, harsh weather, chemicals, or even when using heat styling.

KeraNew is advertised to protect against hair damage and keep your hair looking vibrant and healthy. Their formula uses burdock, hibiscus, acerola, and a few other antioxidant-rich herbs to fight off hair damage and repair your hair from the inside out.

These four benefits are some of the most important ones sought after by people looking to improve their hair health.

But does KeraNew actually deliver on these promises?

Keep reading to find out!

KeraNew Supplement Facts

We will focus mainly on the key ingredients that they advertise as the main players. But all ingredients will be covered to some degree.

Keraplast DFK GLOW (500mg)

KeraPlast DFK GLOW is by far the largest part of the KeraNew formula. It is a trademarked form of keratin, which is an important protein that helps to build hair, skin, and nails.

As a result, keratin can help strengthen hair and repair it from damage. Plus, keratin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects which may improve the hair’s appearance.

It’s no surprise then that keratin is also in other hair supplements too, such as Hairfluence.

Hydrolyzed Collagen I, III (100mg)

KeraNew contains type I and type III hydrolyzed collagen. In general, collagen is a very important protein that makes up connective tissue in the body, such as in the skin, joints, hair, and nails.

Collagen contains amino acids and other nutrients that may help to feed hair follicles and thus increase hair strength and thickness. And one clinical study showed that collagen supplementation enhanced hair follicle growth and increased hair thickness.

Hyaluronic Acid (25mg)

Hyaluronic acid is a natural compound found in the fluids in your eyes and joints. It is mainly used to promote healthier skin due to its ability to retain water and promote moisturization.

However, hyaluronic acid may also help promote scalp rejuvenation and moisturization, while also promoting the growth of hair follicles. And this may ultimately help prevent hair loss.

Horsetail (3mg)

Horsetail is an herbal compound with a history of use in traditional medicine for various concerns.

One of the main features of horsetail is its high silica content. And silica is a mineral needed for hair growth and overall hair health, as well as skin health.

On top of that, horsetail has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects that may decrease hair damage.

Just like keratin, we see horsetail in many other hair supplements, such as Hair Hero.

Burdock Root Extract (25mg)

Burdock root is rich in many bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids and phenolic acids. These may offer antioxidant and anti-inflammatory actions to protect the hair from free radical damage.

Burdock may also help to soothe the scalp, which may in turn promote healthier hair follicles.

But we haven’t seen much research so most of this is viewed as “potentially” beneficial.

Vitamins and Minerals

KeraNew also has 8 different vitamins and minerals. These are vitamin D3 (5,000 IU), vitamin E (15mg), niacin (25mg), vitamin B6 (5mg), biotin (2,500mcg), pantothenic acid (15mg), iron (18mg), and zinc (30mg).

With the exception of vitamin E, all of these are dosed to at least 100% of the daily value, so it’s definitely loaded up on these vitamins and minerals.

In general, these vitamins and minerals all may support healthier and stronger hair, especially if you’re deficient. But if you aren’t deficient, you may not see much of a benefit.

In fact, research shows that really only vitamin D and iron are effective for hair growth and reducing aging hair, while the other ones are somewhat inconclusive.

MSM (50mg)

MSM (which stands for methylsulfonylmethane) is an organosulfur compound with possible health benefits.

It may offer anti-inflammatory effects. And it also seems to boost keratin production. Clinical research shows that MSM can improve hair and nail strength and health. Although KeraNew doesn’t use even close to the recommended dose.

Other Herbal Extracts

KeraNew has several other herbal extract ingredients, such as ginkgo biloba, ashwagandha, acerola, saw palmetto, and bamboo, among others.

In general, these herbs all offer health-boosting compounds, such as flavonoids, terpenoids, polyphenols, and antioxidants. They may work together to promote a healthier scalp, reduce hair damage, and possibly promote hair growth and more vibrant hair.

However, none of these other herbal extracts are dosed high as they are all at 25mg each, which is typically well below the recommended dose.

When combined, they add up to 250mg, which is decent, but still not great. That’s why we think of these other ingredients mainly as hair health supporters rather than star players.

Does KeraNew Work?

It seems possible that KeraNew will work for hair growth and overall hair health.

There are several well-researched compounds that support healthy hair, especially Keraplast DFK GLOW, horsetail, collagen, and hyaluronic acid.

And if you’re deficient in iron or vitamin D (and perhaps other micronutrients), KeraNew may also improve hair growth by helping you reach your daily intake for these.

But there are also several ingredients that don’t have any or very limited evidence. Not to mention many of the ingredients are underdosed.

Overall though, there are enough positive factors in KeraNew to make us confident that it can at the very least support stronger, healthier hair and promote greater fullness and vibrance.

Keep in mind that, even if you do get benefits, these take time to occur. More than likely, it will take at least one month to see noticeable benefits, possibly up to three months or more for the greatest effects.

How Does KeraNew Compare?

KeraNew is a pretty good hair growth supplement compared to other products in this category. It uses well-researched ingredients and offers a variety of possible benefits and mechanisms, whereas sometimes hair growth products only offer one or two main benefits.

We also like that they use a fully transparent label. Although from this, we can see that several ingredients are underdosed.

A popular hair growth supplement worth comparing to KeraNew is Nutrafol. This supplement has many of the same ingredients in KeraNew, such as collagen, horsetail, keratin, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin D. In fact, it’s a very similar formula overall, although there are some differences. Nutrafol also uses two proprietary blends, which makes it impossible to see how much of each ingredient is in those.

Even still, Nutrafol likely has the potential to boost hair growth, improve strength and thickness, and repair damage, just like KeraNew. Nutrafol costs $88 for 30 servings whereas KeraNew is a bit lower at $78 for the same supply.

A more basic formula that still may have benefits is Viviscal. They actually offer a formula for men and women, with the main difference being more vitamins and minerals (such as iron) in the women’s formula, since they’re more likely to have deficiencies.

Viviscal also has horsetail and an AminoMar® Marine Complex, which has actually been clinically studied to improve hair fullness, strength, and thickness. It doesn’t have as complex of a formula as KeraNew, but it may be just as good, if not even better, for hair growth and health. Plus, it only costs $33.99 for a one-month supply.

Who is KeraNew Best For?

KeraNew is best for anyone looking for an all-around hair health support supplement. Especially for hair growth, fullness, and healthier, younger-looking hair.

Verdict: KeraNew Review

KeraNew is a comprehensive hair formula with many supportive ingredients. In particular, it may be good for supporting hair growth and hair fullness, decreasing hair damage, and supporting healthier hair.

We can’t guarantee any results. And the price is on the higher side. But overall, KeraNew has a solid formulation to where we say it’s worth trying out especially if you’re looking for an all-around hair supporter and nourisher with multiple benefits.
