Hydration Multiplier Review

An average human body will consist of nearly 60% water. Our brains are 73% water, muscles and kidneys are 79% water, lungs are 83% water, the skin is 64% water, and bones consist of 31% water.

Water is an essential part of human life, but we are constantly depleting the water levels in our body through excretion and due to our daily diet. In fact, nearly 75% of all humans are chronically dehydrated, and many of them aren’t doing anything about it.

Staying hydrated each and every day is much easier said than done, but there is a growing amount of supplements that can help you stay healthy and hydrated on a daily basis. One such supplement is called Hydration Multiplier from Liquid I.V.. Hydration Multiplier is a supplement that has been around for several years now. So, what does it have to offer?

Let’s see what all the commotion is about in this review of Hydration Multiplier!

Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier

What Is Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier?

Hydration Multiplier is a powdered supplement created by Liquid I.V., a company that has received a large amount of praise for their ability to keep you hydrated.

We all know the power of water when staying hydrated, but what if we could make our water even more powerful? That’s the concept behind adding Hydration Multiplier to your daily routine, which is as easy as drinking water — something we should already be doing daily.

The truth is our bodies need much more than just water to stay hydrated. If you’ve ever wondered why you feel dehydrated even after drinking a lot of water, it’s likely due to the low levels of electrolytes in the body.

Hydration Multiplier brings water and electrolytes together through the power of cellular transport technology (CTT) — an innovative science we’ll discuss below. Before we get into treating dehydration, we should first understand the signs and symptoms everyone should pay attention to.

How Can You Tell If You’re Dehydrated?

Hydration does a lot for the body and ensures it will function properly throughout the day. When you don’t fuel your body with enough water or electrolytes, you’ll start to become dehydrated and experience a wide range of signs or symptoms.

One of the easiest and most obvious signs of dehydration is yellow urine. As a general rule of thumb, the more yellow your urine is, the more dehydrated you are. On the other hand, a lack of pee, in general, could also mean dehydration.

Other symptoms include dry mouth, fatigue, chronic thirst, headaches, brain fog, dizziness, or a lack of tears when you’re crying.

Some people have a higher chance of being dehydrated, including those that are sick, those that work out often and for long periods of time, pregnant women, and older adults. If this sounds like you, it’ll be extra important to watch the amount of water you consume each day.

What Is Cellular Transport Technology (CTT)?

In order for water to be utilized in the body, it needs to be transported to each individual cell via bloodstream absorption. A typical glass of water will do this, but scientists have started to discover that there are more effective ways of doing this.

When water enters the body, it will go through the whole digestive system before being absorbed in the bloodstream. By way of osmotic force, scientists learned that using a combination of sodium, glucose, and potassium can help the water be absorbed much sooner in the digestive system. It’ll also prevent the loss of water throughout this process.

The best way to compare CTT-related water and regular water is to think of them as FedEx. When you drink a regular glass of water, you’re essentially signing up to be hydrated on “standard shipping.” Drinking water that utilizes the CTT delivery system would be equivalent to signing up for “expedited shipping” — you’ll become hydrated more quickly and efficiently.

What Makes Electrolytes So Important To The Body?

In addition to the cellular transport technology used in Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier, this product claims to have three times the amount of electrolytes than your typical sports drink. Electrolytes, along with water, can help your body remain hydrated for a longer period of time.

Two of the ingredients involved in CTT are actually considered electrolytes — potassium and sodium. In their essence, electrolytes are simply minerals that contain an electric charge when dissolved in water. This small electrical current produced by the electrolyte is essential for a variety of functions in the body.

There are seven known electrolytes found in food — sodium, calcium, phosphate, potassium, bicarbonate, magnesium, and chloride. Fruits and vegetables are a quality source of electrolytes, as well as bananas and dairy products.

Electrolyte levels in the body can become imbalanced, even if the host is drinking enough water throughout the day. These imbalances can cause dehydration symptoms and will warrant the host to replenish the electrolytes in the body.

With 3x the electrolytes than normal water, Hydration Multiplier is on the right track to keep you hydrated.

Does Liquid IV Make Any Claims About Hydration Multiplier?

It’s always important to look at the claims made for any product; otherwise, you won’t know what you’re paying for. In order to feel confident you’re paying a good price for the supplement, you need to know their claims are going to match up with the reality.

Even if the supplement still helps in one way or another, it’s still known as a misleading product that wasn’t worth all that you’ve paid for it.

Looking at Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier, they make several claims about the product that would definitely grow your interest immediately:

  • 2-3x the hydration as a typical glass of water
  • 3x the electrolytes than your typical sports drink
  • 5 essential vitamins infused in the water
  • 3 delicious flavors
  • Convenient to use and easy to travel with (individual packets of powder)
  • Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Vegan, Soy-Free, and free of artificial ingredients
  • Made in the USA, independently tested, and follows good manufacturing practices

Hydration Multiplier Ingredients

Now that we understand the claims that are being made with Hydration Multiplier — as well as some of the science that exists — it’s time to go over the ingredients making it all possible. We’ll go through each ingredient one-by-one to see exactly what you should expect out of Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier.

Before we do that, let’s take a quick look at the nutrition facts:

  • Calories: 50
  • Total Fat: 0g
  • Cholesterol: 0mg
  • Sodium: 500mg
  • Potassium: 370mg
  • Total Carbs: 11g (11g from sugars)
  • Protein: 0g

While the calories aren’t much to worry about, 500mg of sodium is equivalent to 21% of the recommended daily amount. Keep in mind many of us are already eating too much sodium in one day.

Now let’s take a look at the ingredients — pure cane sugar, mined salt, potassium, vitamin C, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, and Vitamin B12. You’ll also need water, of course, but you’ll have to provide that yourself.

Pure Cane Sugar

Liquid I.V. is adamant about notifying their customers the reasoning behind the sugar content, stating it was added for function — not for taste. On the contrary, many other sports drinks will load their beverages with sugar to make it taste good — like Gatorade.

Since sugar (glucose) is one of the main components behind Cellular Transport Technology, this is exactly what they were talking about when they say “for function.” In order for CTT to work properly, it needs the right amount and ratio of potassium, sodium, and glucose. This is impossible when you’re loading up on sugar.

To combat this, Liquid I.V. does utilize a small dose of Stevia Leaf Extract — a natural sweetener that helps with taste without adding calories.

Pure Cane Sugar, for function, is a good source of glucose, amino acids, antioxidants, and vitamins, and minerals in itself.

Recommended Intake: 25-38g of added sugar every day

Mined Salt

There are going to be two main types of salt found in food and beverages — mined table salt and sea salt. While the sodium content compared to weight is similar for both, mined salt is typically more processed to remove trace minerals. In addition to that, mined salt will often contain more iodine than sea salt.

Liquid I.V. uses mined salt in Hydration Multiplier to provide the second key component of Cellular Transport Technology — sodium. When combined with potassium and sugar in water at the right ratio, CTT will effectively increase the absorption rate of the water into the bloodstream.

Recommended Intake: 1,500mg-2,000mg per day

Potassium

One of the most significant sources of potassium in a typical diet is bananas — each one contains around 400mg of potassium. You’ll get right around 370mg of potassium in one serving of Hydration Multiplier.

Potassium is the third main component of Cellular Transport Technology. When introduced to water with the right ratio of sodium and sugar, the water will be much more easily absorbed into the bloodstream.

In addition to helping the CTT delivery system, potassium is also essential for lowering blood pressure, reducing the loss of muscle mass, preserving bone mineral density, and can reduce the risk of kidney stones forming.

Recommended Intake: 3,500mg-4,700mg per day

Vitamin C

Liquid I.V. largely uses vitamins as a means of natural energy, helping you restore energy levels lost when dehydrated. In fact, a proper supply of Vitamin C is required in order for our brains, muscles, and cells to produce energy.

In addition to that, Vitamin C plays a major role in the immune system. It provides a large amount of antioxidants to help ward off free radicals in the body and helps synthesize collagen — important to cellular structure.

Citrus fruits and tomatoes are the biggest sources of Vitamin C, but most people can use a little bit more in their daily diet.

Recommended Intake: 65mg-90mg per day

Vitamin B3

Commonly referred to as Niacin, Vitamin B3 is one of the b-complex vitamins that play a major role in breaking down food for energy — more specifically carbs, fats, and proteins. You can find niacin in meat, fish, poultry, avocados, peanuts, and mushrooms.

Vitamin B3 is also a key component in NAD and NADP, two molecules that play an essential role in cellular energy. It’ll also help lower bad cholesterol, increase good cholesterol, lower triglycerides, improve skin, and helps the brain work more efficiently.

Recommended Intake: 15mg per day

Vitamin B5

Commonly referred to as Pantothenic Acid, Vitamin B5 is another one of the b-complex vitamins that help the body break down carbs, fats, and proteins. Dairy products, fish, meat, vegetables, nuts, and grains are often high in Vitamin B5.

In addition to breaking food down into energy, Pantothenic Acid helps the body maintain healthy hair, eyes, and skin, assists the liver and nervous system, improves digestion, produces red blood cells, and much more.

Recommended Intake: 5mg per day

Vitamin B6

The third b-complex vitamin found in Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier is Vitamin B6, which you might also see as Pyridoxine. It can be found in eggs, fish, pork, bread, beans, and vegetables.

In addition to helping the body break down fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, Vitamin B6 is essential to the creation of red blood cells and neurotransmitters in the brain — more specifically dopamine, serotonin, and GABA.

Recommended Intake: 1.3mg-1.7mg per day

Vitamin B12

The fourth and final b-complex vitamin in Hydration Multiplier is Vitamin B12, commonly referred to as Cobalamin. You will largely find this vitamin in meat, fish, eggs, milk, and fortified in some plant foods.

Vitamin B12 is one of the more popular b-vitamins. It plays an essential role in synthesizing DNA, producing red blood cells, breaking down food into energy, improving mood, the function of your nerve cells, improving memory, and preventing birth defects in newborns.

Recommended Intake: 2.4mcg per day

Hydration Multiplier Dosage, Packaging, And Pricing

When you think of water and hydration, the color blue should come to mind — and that’s the color you’ll see associated with Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier. To be exact, it features a blue and a teal color on their main packaging.

It’s a pretty attractive package that features a diagram right on the front of the label that explains the main intention behind the product — making your water three times more efficient. Simply looking at the packaging, you’ll know what to expect out of this product, and that’s important to consumers.

Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier Packets

Each package comes with individual packets of powder, instead of giving you all the powder in one tub. While this usually contributes to a higher cost due to more packaging, it does add to the convenience and allows you to take a packet with you anywhere. All you’ll need is a bottle of water.

You have three flavors to choose from — Acai Berry, Lemon Lime, and Passion Fruit — which is a nice change-up from the typical grape and orange we see in most sports drinks. If you want a variety of flavors, they offer that too.

Each package will come with either 16, 32, 64, or 96 individual packets. Better yet, you’ll save money the more you buy. Below is the pricing breakdown for each size:

It’s intended to be used daily, but you shouldn’t exceed one packet per day. To sweeten the deal, Liquid I.V. has vowed to donate one serving of their product to someone in need for every purchase made.

Claims vs. Reality

Earlier in this review, we mentioned the importance of determining the claims associated with any supplement you’re interested in. Now that we’ve gone through the ingredients, the science, and the various pros/cons, we can start to see if those claims match the reality.

To summarize what we’ve learned, Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier was designed to make water more efficient, make hydration easier to obtain, and introduce several vitamins and minerals that are essential to normal body function.

With Cellular Transport Technology, the water you drink will definitely be more easily absorbed into the bloodstream. This will make the water more effective and lead to quicker hydration. This process wouldn’t be possible if Liquid I.V. didn’t contain potassium, sodium, and sugar — which it does.

In addition to that, they introduce Vitamins C, B3, B5, B6, and B12 to give your body more of the benefit — which checks off that box.

Finally, making the powder available in individual packets is going to make this supplement easy for anyone to use. Whether you’re traveling, exercising, or relaxing at home, Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier will be with you whenever you feel like taking it.

Hydration Multiplier Alternatives

When it comes to staying hydrated, one of the first beverages that come to mind is Pedialyte. It’s used by everyone from babies to adults and is largely turned to when individuals are sick. It can be found in virtually any grocery store, generally in the baby section.

While it won’t make use of proper Cellular Transport Technology ratios, it does contain a good amount of potassium and sodium — as well as chloride and zinc.

Outside of Pedialyte, there is a wide range of supplements on the market designed to tackle dehydration.

Rapid Hydration Mix by Hydrant is similar to Hydration Multiplier in that it comes in individual packets, though it’s a little more expensive. It provides half the calories, half the sodium, half the potassium, and more than half the amount of sugar. It’ll also contain zinc and magnesium.

BioSteel Hydration Mix is another solid option when it comes to staying hydrated and replenishing electrolytes. This electrolyte supplement comes in powder form with 12 available flavor options. BioSteel Hydration Mix includes all of the main essential electrolytes as well as additional ingredients such as zinc, biotin, niacin, vitamin B12, and more. Additionally, it only has 5 calories per serving, contains no sugar, and is vegan-friendly.

Nuun Tablets are another great way to replenish electrolytes with water. Instead of individual packets or canisters of powder, they come in tablets that you simply drop in the water — even easier! Their Sport mix contains potassium, sodium, magnesium, and caffeine. They also have a Vitamin mix, Immunity mix, and Rest mix.
