Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. Workout and Diet

Physician
Born: 1944

Bruce Lipton grew up in a suburb of New York City. He holds a PhD a developmental biology and taught anatomy at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine for a decade and at St. George’s University for 3 years. He also worked as a researcher at Penn State and Stanford University. He now focuses his research on epigenetics, which is the study of the changes in the way genes function without the DNA itself changing. He believes that the way cells function proves the existence of God. Lipton has taught in chiropractic schools and other alternative schools since the 1990s. He has written 3 books on the topic of epigenetics, and in 2009 he won the Goi Peace Award. Lipton has appeared on hundreds of TV and radio shows and is a popular speaker in the US and around the world. His views are not considered credible by mainstream science but he has hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.

Bruce Lipton’s Diet

Summary

For Lipton, everything begins in the mind, but that doesn’t mean that making dietary changes can’t improve your health. He cites research done by Dr. Dean Ornish on men with low-risk prostate cancer who followed a diet rich in plant products, along with moderate exercise and stress-management techniques including meditation for 3 months. Not only did they lose weight and improve other health markers, they saw changes in about 500 genes. Lipton says to not blame your genetics for your problems, and that you have the power to improve your health.

Change Your Beliefs, Change Your Body

Lipton is a strong proponent of the power of belief to change virtually any aspect of your life. If you believe that you are destined to be fat, you will be. But if you believe you are meant to be healthy, that will also be true.

\

The Biology of Belief

Lipton says many of the physiological functions of the body including heart rate were once believed to be involuntary, but this has been disproven. With enough concentrated effort, he says you can control almost everything in your body, including blood pressure, pain, and metabolism.

\

Feed Your Genes

While Lipton does believe that health starts in the mind, he doesn’t think you can or should try to trick yourself into believing that eating junk food is good for you. In other words, eat your veggies.

‘Understanding the concept is very different from integrating it into everyday life.’

{

Lipton on Successfully Changing Habits

‘You don’t get habits to change just because you want them to…That means practice. If you want to play a musical instrument, or a nice conscious idea, you have to practice.’

{

Lipton on Understanding Experiences

‘If you’re just a spirit, what does chocolate taste like? It takes energy to make visual pictures, to make sound, to taste.’

You’re Not a Victim

Lipton says you are not at the mercy of your genes, but rather it is your mind that controls how your genes behave. It is your perception of your environment that matters, and that is under your control.

Heal Your Body With Your Mind

Lipton says the cells in the body are simply following the directions your brain sends down. With 95% of the brain controlled by the unconscious mind and only 5% under conscious control, you have to work to be sure you’re sending the right message.

The Placebo Effect

If you’re still feeling skeptical, Lipton says you should read up on the placebo effect. When the mind believes a thing is true, it makes things happen, such as turning a sugar pill into a miracle cure.

Ask Bruce What’s Wrong

Lipton says one of his most effective techniques for calming down in a stressful situation is to refer to himself in the third person. By acting more like a 3rd party, he can see the problem more objectively, and with less reality-clouding emotion.

Live In the Present

Lipton says one of our biggest problems is that we often replay old scenarios or imagine future ones, and are never fully conscious in the present moment. By focusing on the here-and-now, we can achieve great things.

Meditate Your Way to Health

Lipton recommends regular mediation to rewire your brain with positive, life-affirming messages and to erase the old negative ones that tend to play in our head.

Clarify your goals and concentrate on them.

Regular meditation: even a few minutes a day can produce amazing results.

{

Lipton on Meditation

‘If someone did 3-minute, 3 times per day healing meditations, you are brooking the norm. Those healing meditations constantly and consistently interrupted the tapes that the subconscious was playing.’

{

Lipton on Rewiring Your Thought

‘You stopped listening to the subconscious tapes and started living in the present moment, in effect brining yourself to your healing.’

{

Lipton on De-escalating Stressful Situations

‘Referring to oneself in the 3rd person causes us to think about ourselves in the detached manner that we think about others. This creates a psychological distance between the mind and our personal experiences, and as a consequence diffuses the influence of controlling emotions.’

Lipton has no specific recommendations to make about vitamins, but there are many supplements that support brain health.  Here are a few supplements you may consider.

Bruce Lipton’s Lifestyle

Early Indoctrination

Lipton says our life programs, meaning the way we believe life should be led, are set up by age 7. Habits, both good and bad, become ingrained through repetition, so pay close attention to the bad habits you’ve let creep into your life.

Electronic Communication

Lipton says that in many ways, we are electrical, and that our receptors read vibrational energy, including light, sound and radio frequencies, and that these patterns regulate and alter DNA and RNA.

Affirm What You Want

Lipton recommends recording yourself making positive statements that are in the present tense, such as “I am healthy” or “I am loved” to help reprogram your mind and eliminate the fear-filled, negative tapes you have been playing.

At a Crossroads

Lipton says human civilization is at an evolutionary crossroads where our behavior has become unsustainable and we are at risk of creating the Earth’s 6th Mass Extinction Event. He says the way to avert it is through cooperation and realizing that we are interdependent with all life on Earth.

A Great Life

Lipton says making a contribution to the greater good builds a better world, and that by adding something positive, you make everyone’s life better, including your own.

{

Lipton on Energy

‘Thought waves and “emotional waves” are of obvious importance in the field effect of biology. We are immersed in living fields of vibrational information.’

{

Lipton on Survival

‘The Darwinian notion of the survival of the fittest is giving way to a more scientifically accurate as well as more positive theory of evolution: one that emphasizes the role of cooperation, interaction, and mutual dependence among all life forms.’

{

Lipton on Evolution

‘Civilization can get to that higher level of evolution but only if we change our rapacious ways.’

{

Lipton on Adding to the Greater Good

‘As you contribute something positive, you uplift everyone around you.’
