Beam Dream Review

We all want a good night’s sleep, yet many people today are getting just the opposite of that. There are a lot of people who simply aren’t getting enough hours, and there are also many individuals who complain about lack of sleep quality. So, what can you do about it?

There are many things you can do to improve your sleep, and one popular option is the use of high-quality supplements. And with so many out there wanting better sleep, there comes a large variety of sleep supplement options available.

One such supplement that is gaining in popularity is Beam Dream. This sleep supplement by Beam Organics is designed to provide you with your best night’s sleep, ever. The question is, does it live up to the task? In this Beam Dream review, we’ll take a closer look at this supplement, its ingredients, its benefits, and more to help you decide if it’s worth adding to your nighttime routine. Ready? Ley’s get started!

About Beam Dream

Beam Dream night-time powder has one main goal: to give you your best night’s sleep ever. It contains a combination of vitamins, minerals, and other special ingredients, such as nano hemp and reishi, that help to give you a good night’s rest. When mixed with hot water or warm milk, Beam Dream is supposed to be a great way to create a calming ritual to end your day.

Dream By Beam Organics

Beam Dream is also promoted by Mat Fraser, 5-time fittest man on earth, and has positive reviews from Maxim and Forbes as a sleep-promoter for pro and recreational athletes alike. Though, the goal of Beam Dream is to improve sleep for all individuals, not just athletes.

Beam Dream Benefits

Many people have a hard time shutting their brains off at night. And this is compounded by the fact that modern society has many elements that aren’t conducive to optimal sleep, the main factor being artificial light. Yet, Beam Dream contains certain compounds that are supposed to mitigate these factors and restore balance to your sleep. Essentially, Beam Dream is touted to work by helping your central nervous system to relax and restoring balance in your circadian rhythm.

Dream By Beam Organics-Improve Sleep

Relaxation and Stress Reduction

One of the claimed benefits of Beam Dream is that it will help you to regulate your nervous system and manage stress. This makes sense since high stress (and cortisol) at night won’t be optimal for sleep. (Ever had trouble sleeping the night before a big event or presentation?) To achieve this, they include a key mineral, magnesium, as well as l-theanine and reishi mushroom.

Circadian Rhythm Restoration

The other main promoted benefit is circadian rhythm restoration. Your circadian rhythm is essentially your “day and night” rhythm…it helps you sleep when you want to sleep, have energy when you wake up, and everything in between. So, when it is out of balance, certain biological, chemical, and physiological processes don’t happen as they should. But Beam Dream contains melatonin to help restore balance to the circadian rhythm. And they list that reishi mushroom and nano hemp should also help restore balance as well.

A Potent Sleep Enhancer

Taken together, this combination of stress reduction and circadian rhythm restoration would lead to the main benefit of improved sleep. And the ideas behind Beam Dream are great, but does this product actually improve sleep? To answer this all-important question, let’s take a headfirst plunge into this product.

Beam Dream Ingredients

Beam Dream’s formula contains a relatively short list of ingredients, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. After all, the quality of ingredients is what matters most. With this in mind, Beam Dream contains the following ingredients

  • Magnesium (from Magnesium Citrate)
  • Reishi Powder (Ganoderma Lucidum)
  • L-Theanine
  • Nano Hemp
  • Melatonin

(Note: All ingredients will be reviewed in terms of one serving size, which is one scoop.)

Dream By Beam Organics Powder

Magnesium

Firstly, this product contains 31mg of magnesium per serving from magnesium citrate. Magnesium is an essential mineral, yet many people don’t get enough of it. And magnesium has seemingly innumerable roles in the central nervous system and in sleep. Specifically, magnesium plays a role in regulating various stress hormones and the stress response in general.

Furthermore, magnesium plays a role in synthesizing key neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, noradrenaline, and dopamine, all of which play a role in mood, stress, and sleep. Magnesium is also necessary for healthy GABA and melatonin levels, both of which are important for quality sleep. In short, as some researchers have put it, magnesium is “the original chill pill.”

Thus, it is no surprise that the research shows magnesium supplementation can improve sleep, and that individuals with the highest levels of magnesium intake have higher quality sleep than those with a lower intake.

Now, one thing to note is that this product only contains 31mg of magnesium, which is around 10 percent of the daily value. Even though magnesium citrate is a pretty bioavailable form, the dose is still low. Most of the research on sleep quality uses much more magnesium than that, typically at least 300mg. And since most people are deficient in magnesium by more than this amount, that may not be enough for some people to achieve their desired effects.

Reishi Powder

Functional mushrooms have become popular within the health and wellness industry, with companies like Four Sigmatic making them a primary ingredient staple. So, it’s no doubt that one of the most interesting ingredients on this list is reishi powder, coming in at 350mg per serving. Reishi powder is taken from the reishi mushroom, which itself has a number of medicinal uses.

Reishi is able to act as a mild tranquilizer (don’t be scared by that word, it just means a relaxing agent) by increasing GABA levels in the brain. Furthermore, reishi has been shown to improve the gut-brain axis and restore microbial health and serotonin levels, all of which are involved in mood and sleep.

And research has shown that reishi supplementation leads to many potential benefits for individuals suffering from insomnia. There definitely still needs to be more research, especially with human subjects, but reishi looks promising so far.

L-Theanine

This product also contains 300mg of L-theanine per serving. L-theanine is an amino acid found in tea. It has a number of effects on the brain and body, the main one being increased alpha wave production. Alpha waves are associated with a relaxed, calm state of mind, and this is why l-theanine is often used to reduce anxiety, and with great success. If magnesium is the original chill pill, l-theanine is its calm and collected cousin.

Scientific reviews show that l-theanine supplementation significantly reduces anxiety and stress. And an analysis of a number of sleep studies shows that taking 200mg of L-theanine before bed improves sleep quality. Overall, this seems to be an effective ingredient, especially for those prone to anxiety and stress or the “tired but wired” state.

Nano Hemp

I’m sure you’ve heard of hemp, but what about nano hemp? (Very sci-fi sounding, hey?) Nano hemp is different than regular hemp because the hemp molecules are coated with very small particles, such as lipid nanoparticles, that help to stabilize the hemp, which ultimately leads to more efficient and effective absorption. And Beam Dream contains 20mg of nano hemp per serving.

Thus, the thinking is that nano hemp will improve upon the benefits that normal hemp has already. Also, in terms of why hemp is included, one of the main compounds in hemp that is beneficial for sleep is CBD. CBD acts on the body’s own endocannabinoid receptors, which are important for many things, including sleep, pain, and mood. While research on CBD for general insomnia is inconclusive, it is known that 25mg or more of CBD is effective for improving sleep in individuals with anxiety and/or sleep problems.

Melatonin

The last, but definitely not least, ingredient in Beam Dream is melatonin. This is included in nearly every sleep supplement, and Beam Dream contains 3mg of it per serving. Melatonin is a hormone produced naturally by the body. It is highly involved in controlling your sleep cycle, especially with regard to sleep onset. Thus, healthy melatonin levels are needed for healthy sleep patterns and overall sleep-wake cycles.

Melatonin can be disrupted by a number of things, especially artificial light at night and high stress levels. This is why melatonin supplementation can often be beneficial since modern society has so many factors that may impede melatonin production.

The research is pretty solid, showing that melatonin supplementation improves sleep quality in a variety of people, including those with sleep disorders. The effects are particularly beneficial for shift workers and people who travel a lot. Dosage can range from 0.5mg to 5mg, so Beam Dream’s dose fits within this safe range.

Does Beam Dream Work?

With everything taken into account, Beam Dream appears to be a solid sleep supplement and is most likely to work, although there are a few things that aren’t great about it.

While the research is not as extensive as you would like to see for some ingredients, such as reishi, the overall picture is positive. Melatonin has a lot of research behind it, showing that it has positive effects on sleep quality and quantity. And the research for l-theanine and magnesium, especially the latter, definitively shows that these are beneficial for reducing stress and anxiety and improving sleep. Even for nano hemp (CBD) and reishi, which need more research, the initial results are very positive for their effects on sleep.

However, the dosage for magnesium is much smaller than used in most studies. This might be made up for by the other sleep-promoting ingredients, but there is a chance that users won’t get as much of a relaxation and anxiolytic benefit since it is only 31mg of magnesium.

Nano hemp is also listed at 20mg per serving, which is slightly less than the research showing at least 25mg of CBD for benefits. Thus, this is another area that could be improved.

Overall, despite some limitations, Beam Dream has enough high-quality ingredients that it should improve sleep quality and quantity.

Claims vs. Reality

The makers of Beam Dream claim that it will help you fall asleep faster and improve the quality of your sleep. They even list that 98% of people they surveyed fell asleep faster, and 99% experienced better sleep quality. Obviously, these are some fantastic percentages, but we don’t know who exactly they surveyed or how many people.

Nonetheless, given the solid blend of ingredients in Beam Dream, it most likely will help you to fall asleep faster, stay asleep, and improve sleep quality. Again, using more magnesium and CBD would make these claims even more likely to be true, but it is still likely a quality product for sleep.

Who is Beam Dream Best for?

Beam Dream is beneficial for anyone looking to improve their sleep. Yet, it is especially useful for night-shift workers, people who travel a lot, and individuals under significant stress. This is because these individuals are more likely to have disrupted melatonin levels, altered circadian rhythms, and/or higher cortisol levels. Therefore, Beam Dream can act as a way to help restore your circadian rhythm and/or reduce stress/anxiety/nighttime overthinking.

(As an aside, supplementing with additional magnesium and CBD may be even more beneficial for people dealing with high stress, anxiety, and/or depression).

Is Beam Dream Safe?

Beam Dream appears to have a pretty safe list of ingredients, but there are some things to note. The first thing to consider is the potential for side effects from reishi. It is possible you will experience an allergic reaction from this. Additionally, reishi may cause dizziness, itchiness, rash, headaches, stomach upset, nosebleeds, and/or runny stools. So, quite a few side effects to look out for.

Melatonin may also produce some side effects, including headache, short-term feelings of depression, daytime sleepiness, dizziness, stomach cramps, and irritability.

Also, nano hemp is most likely safe, although it is unclear where exactly they got the hemp from, so purity and overall dosage is unknown. Some possible side effects are dry mouth, diarrhea, reduced appetite, and fatigue, though these are unlikely.

To round out the ingredients, both l-theanine and magnesium citrate appear to be the safest. There are no known side effects from l-theanine. And magnesium citrate may cause loose stools, stomach cramps, and diarrhea, but only when taking too frequently and/or with too high of a dose, which is not a concern with Beam Dream.

Finally, there is nothing mentioned about product testing for purity, safety, correct dosage, and so forth, so this is a downfall.
