Folexin-Review

FOLEXIN is a blend of vitamins, minerals, and herbal extracts created to support hair health and growth.

Most people would like a full, thick head of hair, and many take supplements to get it. There is a vast market for hair supplements: vitamins, minerals, herbal supplements, and more – it’s enough to make your head spin. Plus, manufacturers are also constantly finding new supplements to bring to the market. How, then, do you make the right pick, a.k.a, one that works?

If you’re concerned about thinning hair, you first want to get the right supplement. It can be tough to separate legit products from scams. Hair grows so slowly that it takes a lot of patience to see results. It takes two or three months before you see results from most hair supplements. That’s two or more months of your money and health on the line. If you get it wrong even once, it might be six months before you see results.

Today we’re looking at Folexin, a new supplement for treating baldness and hair loss. Our Folexin review will break down its ingredients to see what they do and figure out if this stuff really works or if it’s just money gone down the drain.

What is Folexin?

Folexin Hair Growth Supplement bottles

Folexin is a supplement that supports natural hair regrowth and thickens the appearance of your hair. It makes your hair grow thicker and faster and may help with gray hair. It also slows hair loss and helps prevent baldness.

The main ingredients in Folexin are biotin and fo-ti, an ancient Chinese herb also called He Shou Wu.

Biotin deficiency has been shown to cause hair loss, hair thinning, brittle nails, and skin rashes. Thus, adequate daily biotin intake should help prevent and stop your hair thinning and hair loss if a deficiency is the cause.

Fo-ti has a different mode of action than saw palmetto (also contained in Folexin) or other pharmaceutical baldness treatments. Its mechanism of action is not well known or understood, but it has shown effectiveness in treating alopecia. If saw palmetto or pharmaceutical treatments failed you, fo-ti might do the trick.

Advantages

  • Different mode of action than other baldness treatments
  • Fo-ti is renowned in Chinese culture for reducing gray hair
  • Acts as a rejuvenating treatment that makes you look and feel younger all over

Disadvantages

  • Fo-ti is also a laxative. You may not want that effect
  • Side effects from Fo-Ti, such as liver damage, are well-documented

Folexin Hair Growth Supplement Facts

Let’s take a closer look at the main ingredients in Folexin, biotin, and fo-ti.

Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is well-known as a hair supplement. Biotin helps your body make energy and also helps with protein creation. Hair is made from a unique protein called keratin. Biotin improves keratin synthesis and enables you to grow a thick head of hair.

Fo-ti is the root of the perennial vine that is dried and shredded. Fo-ti has been used in China for hundreds of years as an anti-aging tonic. It is believed to give you a more youthful appearance, including making your hair thicker and darker. The Chinese name translates to “black-headed Mr. He,” after a villager named He, whose hair changed from gray to black when he started taking the herb.

In addition to serving as a hair tonic and anti-aging drink, fo-ti improves immune function, reduces cholesterol, and fights fatigue. It’s also used as a laxative, and clinical studies have shown its effect. You should probably be careful when you start taking it and begin with a smaller dose. If fo-ti has a laxative effect on you, you need to be ready when it comes.

Folexin also contains multivitamins and amino acids, saw palmetto, nettle root, and other herbal supplements believed to boost hair growth.

How Does Folexin Work?

Folexin Hair Growth Supplement Benefits

We’re not sure exactly how fo-ti fights aging. It hasn’t been well studied, and no clinical studies back up the claims. We do know that biotin deficiency causes hair loss and poor quality of hair growth. It’s unclear if extra biotin helps your hair grow thicker, but many believe it does.

As with all hair growth products, Folexin takes time to work. It takes six to eight weeks for hair follicles to become active again and a couple more past that for the new hair to become visible. Darkening gray hair takes even longer. The gray hair has to die and fall out before new, darker hair will grow, as the life cycle of a single hair is one to two years.

Safety and Side Effects

We’ve already touched on the laxative effects of fo-ti. That’s not particularly dangerous, but it can be inconvenient. Chemical compounds in the fo-ti root called anthraquinones are said to cause the laxative effect. These compounds are also known to cause liver damage, and Fo-ti has been reported to cause liver damage in some studies.

Because of the risk of liver damage, some groups of people should not use Folexin. Women who are pregnant or might become expectant, nursing mothers, and individuals with liver damage should avoid the product. The dosing seems acceptable, but you should keep yourself safe if you are at risk.

Folexin Hair Growth Supplement: Is it Worth it?

Folexin uses an herb that is new to the US. It doesn’t have an extensive track record of regrowing hair, but it does have some disturbing side effects. Liver damage from fo-ti is rare but can occur. The laxative effect is much more common. That’s also something you probably want to avoid.

Other pharmaceutical treatments for baldness are available, either by prescription or over the counter. Minoxidil and finasteride are proven baldness treatments that are known to be safe and are also less expensive than Folexin.

We suggest skipping Folexin until it has a better track record.
